Default How to type words in a circle with Word 2010

Can anyone help me type words in a circle with Word 2010? I had it all figured out with my old Word-I think it was 2003-but the new one is so different. I have most of it down-but not easy. I am having the most trouble with the spacing where I end up and it re-starts-I can't get the distance right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:confused:

Thank you for the hints-my main problem seems to be finding the Word Art - the only one I come up with does not have the choices I had before. I am going to keep going over all those notes to see if I can figure it out. Thank you!

I agree it is not as easy to use WordArt in the latest Word version. But try this: Under the Insert menu select Word Art. Pick any style you want and type your text. Click OK. The text now appears in your document and the Format menu appears. Click on Change Shape in the Format menu. Pick the Circle. Once you do that, you will be returned to your document and your WordArt that you created. Now drag the box to make the circle shape. If you want to format it after you have finished and you need the Format menu again, select the your circle/box text again and the Format menu will be available. Let me know if you have any trouble with this.

Thanks for the hints-but that still doesn't put my words in a circle. What I have figured out so far is: Insert-Word Art-Select font-highlight and type-go to text effects and transform into a circle path. Then I can pull it into a circle shape. I also have to go back to Home and Format to get to a Normal style so I don't have the font I have to select at the beginning. Now my problem-I can't get a perfect circle. I have also re-set the H & W to the same size-I've tried all sizes for the fonts too-but I still have a gap in my circle. Sometimes-I accidentaly get a perfect one-but very seldom. I just keep messing with the program trying to figure it out-so I appreciate any hints I get! Thanks again.

MelodyGal-I keep going back to your instructions-but I get to where the Format menu appears and it only shows Edit Shape-i\I go into that and they do not have a circle-or I select Oval. When I go back to my document I try to grab and drag it into a circle and I do see the circle-but as soon as I let go of the mouse-it disappears. What am I doing wrong?

I will be back later, after I've played around with this. Is Word 2010 much different than 2007? That's what I have.

I had 2003 I think-and it was easy to make my words in a circle-but 2010 is very difficult! I almost have it-just can't get a perfect closure every time-sometimes I get lucky and it works perfect. Try and see what you can come up with. Thanks. Off to a Superbowl party with friends!

I tried for a little while using instructions here. I can get them in a circle, but I don't think I would be able to get them exactly as I would like. For instance, I would like Happy Birthday, but typed in that way it comes out Birthday Happy...well, I guess I could try typing Birthday Happy and see if it reverses it, couldn't I? These instructions are a big help as I never realized this much was possible. I guess I'll keep playing. Maybe tomorrow.

I usually type the words three or four times to make a complete circle. I have never had them reverse before. The smaller the font-the more times you repeat your words.

They didn't really reverse. It's just that with only typing them once and the size of the font, birthday ended up on the top of the circle! I've been playing around with it and it is working better. Didn't think to type the words more than once. Thanks.

Under the Format menu is the Rotate option. Rotate the box and Happy Birthday will be where you want it. I type my text three times with a ~ in-between. Happy Birthday~Happy Birthday~Happy Birthday~

Does your text totally disappear or just the circle shape? To format it, you need to select it by clicking on it. (I'm sure you know this.)

Most times I have to select "Text Wrapping" and choose "through" so that the box becomes available to work with and move.

Just tried it with Happy Birthday typed three times and it works much better. I guess I will have to play around with it to get the different size circles I might need. I appreciate all of you!

Just to follow up-I finally got it to work for me. It would look like my circle was not perfect - but when I went ahead and printed it - it worked perfectly! Go figure! Thanks again everyone for the help-every little bit helps!!
