Default Help!

I'm not sure this is the right place to post - if not I'm sorry - let me know where & I'll post it there.

But I'm wanting to make several glass blocks for gifts & when we drill the block it cracks. (Most of the time!!) I'm the one with the water sprayer so we do that - we have the correct drill bit. Is there a trick? Is there a certain area you should or should not drill? Should you use a drill press - or hand drill???? Hopefully someone can help me. It can get expensive buying blocks then messing up!! They don't crack all the way through but ya really don't want to give a gift with a crack!! haha

We're off to buy more blocks tomorrow morning!

Thank you
Elaine

Default drilling Glass Block

I also tried to drill holes and ended up cracking most of them even after buying an expensive drill bit. I ended up taking to them to a glass shop that drilled the holes for me. They were very familar with what I was asking and only cost a few dollar a hole. Alot cheaper than buying new glass bricks.

Be sure and use the best available drill bit you can...We put cardboard on the floor...and stood up over the blocks...that was the only way we could get enough pressure...but drill very slowly...keeping that water constantly there...We only broke 3 out of 2 dozen we did when I worked for AC Moore and we sold them during the holidays one year...We did use a drill and stop, drill and stop until we got all the way thru...
