Default Having trouble with water-misting for pseudo watercoloring technique

I am inking up with classic ink ... is that wrong?

I ink it up and then spritz with a waterbottle .......... and all I get is a big ole blob o' ink.

On the second stamp (stamp off once) it's just too light.

What am I missing??

Oh, I am using the shimmery white paper, not watercoloring paper. (I covet my WC paper and don't want to use it for this if I don't have to!)

You might try Staz-On or other permanent ink. It doesn't run. Also using watercolor paper is best because it doesn't buckle or curl when the image dries.

The same thing happened to me. Turns out I was getting too much water on the inked up stamp.... now if I hold the stamp flat (rubber facing up) and mist over the stamp (not directly on the stamp) the mist "floats" to the rubber and adds just enough mist to work out.

Hope this helps!

You may need to get a spray bottle with a *mist* not a spray.

I was having trouble with my GASS, I found little spray bottles in the toothpaste aisle at Wal-Mart for $.50. They have a *very* fine mist and work great!

Default Greatest success with Marvy Markers

I get the best results by coloring directly on the stamp with Marvy Markers, then you can mist or even just huff onto the stamp. There is enough moisture in your breath to get a great watercolor effect. This is how I do all my Penny Black Brush Strokes stamps. You can also mix water, gum arabic and Pearl Ex powder and create a really nice sparkly spray.
