Glue used for envelopes

Hi all!! I am going to be making some small envelopes and would like to know how or what do you use to glue them closed. Project is a holder with small notes/envelopes for a gift and can't figure out what I need to use on envelopes so she can close and send out??:confused:

I just made a set of note card envelopes. I used Scor-tape to put them together, as well as a piece on the flap so it could be sealed if necessary. So far nothing has come undone. Good Luck!

I bought a product called "Lick & Stick" Remoistenable Envelope Glue. Their website is www.greensneakers.com.

You might want to try this idea. Envelope glue.

I used Aleen's Tack glue in the gold bottles... and it works great. Thinking Elmer's might work... No harm in trying what you have available

I want to thank everyone with some great ideas!! I have the Aleens tack glue and also went to site you mentioned on how to mix some glue (2 parts white glue to 1 part vinegar...going to try that one and lick to see what it taste like) for the envelopes, again thanks so much!! Also going to look for Lick & Stick, I have gone to all the "craft stores" here in Northern CA where I live and they look at me like I have lost my mind...

I use a product called "Columbian Envelope Sealer with Adhesive". Not sure where I bought it, but it might have been at a local office supply store.

Here is a recipe to make your own!

ENVELOPE GLUE RECIPE
Ingredients:
6 tablespoons white vinegar
(4) 0.1 oz. packets unflavored gelatin
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or any flavor that you like)

Directions:
1.Bring vinegar to a boil in a small pan.
2.Add gelatin and stir until dissolved.
3.Add extract and stir until mixed.
4.Brush on thin layer onto back of an envelope flap...Let dry.
5.Moisten to apply.

Store excess glue in a sealed container and melt again for future use by putting in a pan of warm water.

you want to use a glue specifically designed for envelopes because the scor-tape/tacky tape seporates in the auto sorter...due to the heat. at least that's what I've been told by a postal worker. once you make your envy's...just use lick'n'stick...you can find it at your local craft store or online. this is what I found when I googled it http://www.amazon.com/Lick-Stick-Env.../dp/B0001DTGJM

as for putting the envelope together...just lite amount of scrappy glue will do.

I haven't given any as gifts, so I just seal the envies with a regular glue stick, which holds good. Also use it to put the envies together.

Hi...I've always used what we call Lic em stick em...it's 1 part white Elmers glue and 1 part white vinegar and what ever flavoring you want. Stir mixture. Paint on envelope edge with a flat brush and let dry. It will dry clear and when you "lic", it will "stick". I've used this for many years with total success. It won't wrinkle your paper. Experiment with the amount you use. Hope this helps.
