Question Ghost resist.... I think???

Hi guys, I'm new to this board and thought you might be able to help me. I'm trying a new technique and it didn't work quite as well as I thought ..... maybe you have some pointers that could help me out......

I thought it was called a resist or ghost shadow technique - what I'm trying to do is emboss so it resists the ink, then have a darker colour of the same image.

Soooooo, I started with watercolour paper, embossing with versa mark and clear EP. I then covered the area with H2Os and let dry. Rubbed the H2O off the embossed image. Then I used a versamagic ink to stamp the same image and tried to buff it off the embossed part with a paper towel. it didn't really work - smudged the details a bit and just kinda looked blah.

So - where did I go wrong do ya think? Any tips most welcome.

Thanks heaps,

Kelly

Hmmm I'm a little stumped on exactly how to do this. Since embossing powder is plastic I doubt that you will have much luck with putting anything on top.

Could it possibly be the Emerging Color technique?

Sorry I'm not really sure exactly what you are looking for.

Default Resources Page

On the Splitcoast Resources techniques page there is a Ghosting technique.

Another is called Embossing resist.

I think you were doing the Embossing resist. But the last step in the tutorial is to add a few images in the same color -- don't buff it again.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I also came across some instructions involving the embossing called faux batik. so maybe I'm just trying to mix them ALL up! Thanks for your help though.
