Default felt threads with alcohol inks

Help - whenever I use my Alcohol inks I get little threads from the felt pad (using Tim Holtz) all over my project and can't get them off without ruining the ink.

HELP!!

Hmmm...I use alcohol inks and have never had this problem...hoping someone else can help! (Stupid question, but you are you using a new felt square each time, right?)

I use Cut & Dry to apply my alcohol inks. No fibers to deal with. You can cut a piece as large or small as you want (perfect for dominoes). You can also reuse it over and over again for the same colors if you want. I just write the color of the ink on the back. The only drawback is since you hold onto it directly, unless you wear gloves (which I usually don't) you end up with colorful fingers. I think you could probably put velcro on it and attach it to the handle that you use with the felt.

I cheated and bought 1/2 yard of white felt at Walmart and cut it into pieces. I also don't use the official applicator; I took one of the wood mounts from a Michael's $1 stamp that I unmounted and stuck the hooky part of the velcro on it (I used two strips of velcro so the whole square of the wood was covered). I think I might have spent $4 total on the felt and velcro and with the amount of felt squares you can get from 1/2 yard, I may never need to buy it again.

I like to use tampons and your hands dont get messy! Works great for me and holds 3 colors and when I want to change colors I just snip off the tip and push down some more of the tampon out when I am completely done with it I throw it away and I get out a new one.

OK - You guys are helpful and HYSTERICAL!!!!! I am still laughing about the tampons-that's brilliant. I think I will try the Cut & Dry and will try to remember to wear gloves.

BTW, I am using the felts just once and they are the ranger/tim holtz brand.

Thanks again!!

Hey, I just had a thought. . . staying with the feminine hygene products theme. . . how about panty liners? You could cut them into thirds or quarters. They already have the sticky on 'em. Just slap them on a block, use them, then rip them off. Also, they're easily disposable!

The "mini pad bulk buy" refers to uninked spot sized ink pads, not the feminine kind.

THAT is Sooooooo funny! I have a lot of things from the household in the stamp room (bleach, waxed paper, hairspray, etc) but tampons has been on the list.

But.......I've never had a problem with the fuzz on the felt. I would suggest going to a fabric store or craft store and buying the cheapy felt 9 x 12 square and see if it gives you better results.

This has me in stitches! I think I may just have to do this at a crop just for the sake of doing it in public!

That reminds me of a comedy show at Esther's Follies in Austin. There's always a series called Crafty Corner or something like that. The lady's entire skit is about how to do crafts with feminine products. Usually, the ladies in the crowd are laughing so hard they're crying and the men just look confused.
