Question Dazzling Diamonds Question

I want to use dazzling diamonds to get glittery effect over a certain area for bridal shower invitations. I tried adhering with versamark then heating, as well as with 2 way glue. With either one the glitter never really dries and can be brushed off. How do you get dazzling diamonds to stay on and "cure"?
Thanks

Like you, I have tried these methods in frustration - they do not work. Even tried putting glitter on craft ink and heating it. The 2 way glue always works for me though. I do this all the time, but if you would like glitter to stick on the entire outline of something like a snowflake, or the little dress or umbrella in Blooming with Happiness - it ain't gonna happen. UNLESS, you have the patience to try method #2 which is heat-n-stick powder. Stamp with Versamark, pour heat-n-stick on it, heat it with a heat tool until it's just the right stickiness (yeah right) and then quickly dump the glitter on before it dries. I stick with the glue pen and just do the best I can - still comes out really pretty. There's always going to be *some* that will brush off, but I get very good results with the 2 way glue.

Wink Dazzlin Diamonds (DD)-- How to use it so it sticks

Hi!
In addition to using the two-way glue, another technique for adhering DD is as follows:
1. Versamark or craft ink stamp your image
2. Put Heat and Stick powder over the image you just stamped (this is a powdered glue sold by stampin up)
3. Heat the Heat and Stick powder with a heat gun (just like w/embossing powder)
4. While melted glue is still hot apply the DD... it will stay on and stick just fine.

Hope this helps!

you might try the iridescent (sp?) ice embossing powder. It's pretty glittery.

After researching it more, I think the effect I am going for requires the irridescent ice embossing powder. I guess DD is better for accenting, but I need greater coverage for my project. (1"x1" square needs to be covered in sparkle). What do you do, adhere irridescent ice with versamark and then heat?

Thanks.

Could you use a square of tacky tape? Sprinkle it lightly on the tape area, and brush around with a tiny soft paint brush.

Irridescent Ice is an embossing powder w/ a glittery substance mixed in...you can use it just like any other embossing powder w/ Versamark or other pigment inks. So if you want a certain stamped image to be glittery, then this would be the perfect solution. I prefer this method to the "stamp, add heat n stick powder, heat, add glitter, heat again" method...a lot fewer steps!

If you're adding glitter to a previously stamped image, you might try to locate some glitter glue such as Stickles. Again, less muss and fuss.

Happy Stamping!

You can also apply the Versamark directly to your square, just tap the pad onto the square, apply your Irridescent Ice and heat emboss. If your square is already cut out, it might be a good idea to emboss half of it at a time, so that you'll have a powder free area to hold onto while embossing.

I love Dazzling Diamonds but hate the mess. I put a little squirt of Crystal Effects on a plastic lid and mix in a tiny scoop of Dazzling Diamonds. Then I apply it with a cheap (not too fluffy) q-tip. Works great on flowers or small areas. I washed out a little glue bottle and keep some mixed for quick use.

To do a large area, I would brush it on with a paint brush.

If it's a square, have you tried running it thru a xyron?

You can do a complete coverage using the whole versa mark pad, heat n stick powder and the DD... i've seen this done over a beach & shells scene and it looks really nice and sparkly and you get complete, see through coverage. I've also done it over a butterfly stamp on a brayered, multi-colored background (done over glossy white)... but it's up to you.

Regards,
Gerri

VersaMark will not work as an adhesive as you've probably already discovered! How quickly are you applying the glitter when using the two-way glue? If allowed to dry a bit, the bond is only a temporary one.
