Your bookmarks are very cute! They should easily sell!

Thanks ladies! Bugga, I know what you mean about the floppy bookmarks. I like them that way too. I always end up chewing on the paper ones. Gross I know... Habit that has continued since childhood for some reason.

Barbiejo, I stamp them with palette ink and then just iron them to heat set. I've never had a problem with the ink bleeding when washing (I've tried this same thing on a quilt). I suppose if washed enough it would eventually fade out, but since it's a bookmark I figure it's pretty safe for a while at least!

lol My mom has no idea how to sew. She's not the slightest bit crafty. I think she looks at me and wonders where the heck I learned to cook and craft (yeah, she doesn't cook either). She probably thinks I was switched at birth. lol

They're not labor intensive at all. A piece of cotton on the front, piece of flannel on the back, zig zagged together, distressed the seams somewhat and stamp. Easy peasy!

hello everyone - well, the first craft fair of the season (for me) was this past monday - I think I did pretty well (better than I expected) - after the booth fee ($75.) I made a bit over 200. - here's what sold the best...
$1., $2.,$3. items went VERY well, planning on making LOTS more
post-it notes were the top seller at $3.
the $2. post-its went well AFTER I put ribbon ties on then (go figure)
the book thongs were next, 1 for $8.50 or 2 for $15.
I made a funny poem up with eyeglass holders ($7.50) and sold out of them, had 6 w/me
some halloween cards, several clipboards, several mini albums
my next show is the 25th oct. so I'm trying to make up what I sold and then some
will post the photos in my gallery later today

Hooray, Carole!

Sounds like you did great. I'm glad your book thongs went well - they were so cute.

I need to replenish my post-it note holders, too. I sold quite a few at my first show. Guess people like post-its!

Thanks for the report. Can't wait to see your pics.

I'm with you! I have 3 fairs coming in November and December, and I keep switching horses and making new stuff. I'm finding that the actual making doesn't take as much time as "deciding" what to make and what materials to use, etc.

Hi Bugga!

I know exactly what you mean. I have spent so much on material because I keep changing my mind that I doubt I will even make a profit! LOL

Angie at www.chicnscratch.typepad.com has a great video showing a very easy way to do it!

Just wanted to show one of my latest additions for Christmas Ornaments to sell at upcoming craft shows. I utilized the Felt Ornaments [retired] that are currently on the "Clearance Rack" from Stampin' Up. Here is the link to the first pic in my gallery: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=94682
And to my blog where I expound on how I made them:http://deariedesigns.blogspot.com/20...are-alike.html
Easy Peasy for sure!
I have sold a couple so far from just posting pics on FB for friends! [Another avenue for what you don't sell after this season, my friends!]

I keep coming up with a mess.
I honestly think it shows the design better if you sticky strip the DSP to the outside of the RSVP pen. Then sticky strip the beads [of you are doing the beaded pens]. I also seal it with a Triple Thick Glaze because I found after awhile the beads started to come off [but I am in Humidity Central = Florida so that may have something to do with it].
If you want to roll inside, I have found the least amount of paper the better. and just roll it tight before you slide it in..
For awhile, I could find a cheaper 5-pack of thinner pens from RSVP brand. I just stamped regular typing paper with a small design [like polka dots] and that seems to roll so much easier that SU DSP. SU DSP is better for other projects [IMO] because it is typically thicker and stronger than the individual sheets they would carry at Michael's/JoAnn's/Target $1bin..however, that thickness can be tough in tight spots like this project. good luck!

Wow, very nice pictures of craft sale ideas! I gotta kick it in gear too. I did tags last weekend, with the ornament punch and coordinating stamp set from SU. By the time I got done with the last ornament, putting cord on it and all, I was exhausted. Packaged them at 15 a bag and because of the work, I'd like to put about a grand on each one of them. But I won't of course. But I didn't realize that I did about 300 tags so that's probably why I was beat by the time I was done with them. And my hand hurt from stamping and punching that many times. Yikes!

Yesterday I only got one card done! I need to just use the supplies I HAVE instead of buying more! Very frustrating!

Hi Mary

For me- 22 days to go and counting! Last night I thought I would get some stuff done! Yeah right, sat at my craft desk for about 15 mins staring off into space then got on the computer for the rest of the night! (of course looking at all the great idea's from all the women here!)

Out of the 17 items I decided to make only 5 sets are done! OH Boy! Think I could get into trouble! Might have to go home sick! LOL.

OMG,...I just make reindeer food out of some oatmeal I was giong to throw out as I got a new container,...there was enough for 29 pouches, added colored sugar sprinkles now I have to come up with a cute poem. Think I'll put them in a card and charge $1.00. Those things always sell.

Yes, she is!

So hard to say on the pricing -- what sells for $4 easily in one town may barely fetch $1 or $2 somewhere else.

I live in NYC, where things are usually rather expensive.... but i also craft, so I know if I can make things myself (for example, i won't pay much for paper items, because I papercraft... but I don't knit, so I'd probably pay more for that)
I think i would pay $4 for the paper part, but might pay up to $6 or $7, if it came with the candle in the glass and whether it was a scent i liked. i think maybe a deal like $6 each or 2 for $10 would entice me to buy a few.
Are you doing other styles, like Santa, Gingerbread Men, Reindeer etc? I would love to see a Snow themed one, since then I have a great gift for someone even if they're not Christian.

Search on here because there is a list of poems [poop orientated ones and others like "Magic Reindeer Food"]. I, too, sold these last year and the leftovers will go into this year's pot. [Hey look! I am already done with a project! haha] $1 is a great price.

I am always amazed when people actually ask if it is real! Seriously?! I actually started putting "Novelty" before the sale signs for these, the poops, & the Christmas fudge. People are..um..amazing sometimes!
Ha!

Carole, Congrats on a great show! Your items are beautiful! Love your eyeglass holder necklace poem! Would love to use your poem on a couple that I have left from last year if its ok with you. What was the differance between you $2 and $3 post it notes? I have made some without pens and still haven't priced them. Did you take a pic of your booth??

nsruss LOVE PINK and LOVE your bookmark!!

Those votive holders are beautiful! I made some stamped candles last night. Very simple design. I've had the candles hanging around here for a couple of years. Like some others have said I have way too many supplies and I'm trying to downsize, so I'm trying to use up what I have before I buy anything else. The challenge of it is kind of fun! The only thing I'm allowed to buy is adhesive. And ribbon. Because a girl can never have too much ribbon.

I signed up for another fair on the 12th of December. Seems a little late to me, but I'll give it a shot anyway since the table fee is only $15. I think I'll focus on stocking stuffer items since I bet a lot of people will be looking for those type of things around then. Maybe half a table of stocking stuffers.

"Of course, you could easily sell some reindeer poop for $1 after someone looks at a $500 chair.
Still, $655 is a lot of poop!"

SU DSP is better for other projects [IMO] because it is typically thicker and stronger than the individual sheets they would carry at Michael's/JoAnn's/Target $1bin..however, that thickness can be tough in tight spots like this project. good luck!

not doing the beads, just the paper. I never thought of stamping on lighter wieght paper. My rolling problem comes from the weight of the paper so maybe I will try that. thank you

Default Question about stamping

Hello, everyone. I am trying to find a new and exciting craft to do for craft shows and came acroos this site. I see that most on here talk about specific stamps and supplies, is there a specific brand that you buy that everyone knows about, the ones that are seen on some pictures look fabulous!
