They aren't hard to make. I can make about eight of them in a half hour time, that is when I'm not trying to film it! I'm sure now that I'm tweaking my (Dh dubbed) studio lights, I'll have more fun videos.

I'd really like us to not only share the items we make for craft shows, but cost and profit.

Hugs!

ps thanks for the great compliments on the video!

I bought my envelopes for 4.95 for a pack of 50 from Stampin Up. I did not take pictures yet, but one is red and black and with white craft ink I stamped "for my teacher" on it. The other is pink and light green with a stamped image for a baby on it and a little ribbon tied on. I'm thinking they are great for grandma's brag book.

In some cases you might be able to use Sticky Strip.
I actually found a package of 8 at my local $1 store. They write really well too! I need to go back and get more since I will be doing a fair in the fall! Thanks for all the great ideas!!

May be a few more things to remember but people LOVE IT! They love when they can tell you what to put on it. This is a huge selling point for a lot of our craft shows for sure. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

Anyone have good luck selling squash books?

If yes/no, were they undecorated or themed?

I have my first BIG craft show this saturday. I've done a few other small ones with small fees and even smaller amounts of customers. So I've decided to pay the heftier fee $60 in hopes that there will be more customers. This craft show is pretty well known in the area so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll let you know how it goes after it's over.

I plan to sell:
handmade cards small=$2 ea, large=$2.50ea
covered post-it notes=2.50 ea.
Covered note pads = $4.00ea
and then I have a few premade scrapbook albums and pages left from the previous shows.

I've done really well selling my cards and notepads to co-workers, usually $40worth each month so I hope to do well at this craft show. We'll see!

I have a question. For those of you who alter dominos, do you put anything on the back to cover up the dots? If so, what?

I don't cover the dots, but I've only done magnets. You could probably use a paint pen to cover what isn't already hidden by a magnet or pin.

I don't cover up the dots either--I've made them for pins, ornaments, & magnets. People think it's cool when they turn it over & realize it's a domino!

I add a magnet or pin to the back, too. I don't try to cover the domino dots, I think that is part of the charm.

Default New Craft Fair Ideas

Hi Ladies! It's been awhile but I'm starting to gear up for the fairs & I love this thread every year

Wanted to share a new project for this year--a set of six holiday pins (ostensibly with teachers in mind) made from Rummikub tiles.

I just posted all about it on my blog (in siggy) & I'll be posting more ideas in the weeks to come.

You can also see things I've done in the past by looking at posts under "3D Projects" & "craft fair".

Jules, I had trouble leaving a note on your blog. I couldn't get it to work for me. I'd love to buy one of the tiles. I like the one that says Blessings and has the tree on it. Can you PM me?

Oh good. I wasn't sure if people covered them up or not. I'm doing my first craft fair this fall, but because of another commitment in September and half of October I'm getting a REALLY early start.

I've been lurking on here for about two weeks and have literally read through everything! So ladies, thanks in advance for all the great ideas! There are so many cool things to do that I've never even thought of. I'll have to see if I can stretch my imagination and come up with something unique.

Another question. How many different types of things do you usually sell? I don't want it to be super overwhelming.

Default 4th of July

Does anybody have any (patriotic) ideas for some things I can sell for at the most $2. I already have a variety of "high end" items ($8-$30)

I already plan on doing these "bargain basement" items

pinwheels for kids using patriotic themed papers and maybe using a pixy stix as the handle.

Some simple red, white & blue seed bead bracelets,

Paper star "magic" wands

anything else.........???

I made chocolate covered oreos and used star sprikles and those flags that are sugar you find at the craft stores. Then I put themin the baggies and made patriotic bag toppers.

I'm not a big fan of spring or summer shows. I do about 10 times better at fall and winter ones.

the pinwheels on regular pixy's aren't super functional but they are cute. I punch/pierce a teeny hole through the sealed end and then use a brad through the center of the pinwheel and pixy stick.
I've also made them for jumbo pixy's using a larger pinwheel template. For those I punch an approx. 1/8" hole in the sealed end and insert either a long pinned thumb-tack (they can be embossed to match dp) or a pushpin through the pixy and the back of the pinwheel so that the point is coming out the front. I then use either a bead or piece of baked polymer clay (half-drilled) glued to the end of the tack to hold it all together. About 5% of the time they don't spin real well (don't know why-I make them all the same) but most of the time they do.

another option might be to use a ball tipped straight-pin.

I'll try to get some photos of samples done and posted this weekend.

I like the chocolate covered oreo idea.....not sure how well it would work when the average temp around here on the 4th of July is about 95 degrees.

I don't generally do summer festivals except for this 4th of July one. The booth is only $25 and I've always made a profit. Since this year it's on a Saturday I should do pretty well. The last time I did it on a weekday I made $100 after the booth fee. Since more people are off work on Saturdays my odds are pretty good. It's just a really nice small town celebration with a large military population-that's why I'm wanting some patriotic ideas.

I just made a post it note holder with red, white and blue post it notes. I bought them at our local target for $1 I did use a mini pen which I also bought in Target also. The package of pens had like 6 pens. Here is the link to the directions for the post it note holders. The directions seem kind of hard but it really is very very easy.

Default 4th of July ideas

If you can keep them cool -- try chocolate covered strawberries--- put them in cupcake papers

also cinnamom rolls -- just decorate with patriotic ribbon on package

I do great with these at our neighborhood even
hope this helps

A little later then I wanted to, but I uploaded 2 pics of the envelope brag books. I can't wait for my Big Shot, so I can cut letters to personalize these.

Now I'm going to try and link my gallery to my signature. My first gallery post!

Default question...

I'm working on a few things at the moment. but one idea I haven't tried yet is the post it note holders. I like how they turned out and would love to make them. I need to know where to find the acrylic holders at a decent cost. I would really like to keep my cost down. Any suggestions are appreciated.
