hello, i got it off this blog...scroll about half down!!
i thought it was a super cute idea! i made a recipe card and stamped it and laminated it.
Thanks so much ladies for all the awesome ideas! I've read this entire thread and my mind is spinning! I'm getting ready for my 2nd and 3rd craft fairs (my first one in March was not well attended and did not go so well- no one was selling!) in the beginning of November and am kinda freaking out!
I was wondering if anyone has tried selling the glass etching-emboss resist votive holders (the kind you can get at Wal-Mart for about 97 cents, have either 3 or 4 sides)? How much did you charge? I have some that I have done with all the sides embossed/etched with a votive in the middle and wrapped and am not sure about how much to charge. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!
I have my first craft faire of the year tomorrow and its supose to rain.. ugh.. hopefully people will come anyways. I am planning on selling...
Cards (christmas and misc.) $2 each or 3 for $5- made 50
Pumpkin Poop $1 each- made 40
Frankenstein hershey bar pull treat $2 each or 3 for $5- made 45
Magical Reindeer Food $1 each- made 45
Altoid Tins (christmas and misc.) $2.50 each or 5 for $10- made 60ish and making more tonight!
premade mini scrapbooks $6-$12- made 4
premade scrapbook pages- not sure on pricing yet. I have alot left over from a craft faire last year.
altered wood blocks that spell out Family, Love and Home $15-$20- made 2 family and 1 love and 1 home
I will let everyone know what I sell! I am really hopeful for the pumpkin poop and reindeer food. Sounds like those go well...
Well the craft faire I signed up for was a bust. Hardley anyone came. I must say though that I think I sold the most out of everyone.
The main things that sold were pumpkin poop, frankenstein hershey bar pull treats, magical reindeer food and cards. Luckily I have another craft faire on the 25th of October so atleast I will have a big supply of everything.
I went to a very large craft show in Elysburg, PA with over 300 crafters and there was not ONE papercrafter there!! I couldn't believe it! So, when you guys are at craft fairs, are you basically the only one there?
The other thing that really upsets me at craft fairs and shows is that there were so many people there literally selling the exact same thing...mass produced handmade-looking items out of catalogs and such. It was daunting, really. There were so many people there who were true artists and crafters, and then those who were just basically faking it. And the worse part is that the prices were lower in those booths (since it was just simple resale) and they had more business. The handmade items that cost a bit more got snubbed. My DH and i refuse to buy something mass produced...we bought some beautiful hand thrown pottery and a couple pieces of artwork today and avoided the mass produced resellers.
After being on a waiting list for a little over two years, I will get to participate in a craft fair in November. This will be my first craft fair so I am really nervous and excited all at the same time. The coordinator is really excited to have me there because they have never had a paper crafter there before and I will be the only one there. I sure hope this goes well!
Howdy! I'm doing a craft fair on Saturday. It's my first time at this one and I hear it's a good one. Lots of traffic. I have the following for sale:
* 450 cards ($1 to $3 each)
* 5 card sets (undecided on price yet)
* 16 fall treat tents (2 for $1)
* 20 pumpkin poop ($1)
* 25 beaded pens (may do more) ($2)
* 12 list notepads with magnets for fridge ($2)
* 8 large journal sets (sets include altered comp book, beaded pen and book of journal prompts) ($10)
* 15 small journal sets (1/2 comp book) ($
* 20 sets of 8 holiday gift tags ($2)
* 39 (may be more) Booketz - card size blank "books" with a hand stitched binding ($1)
* 24 "401 Journal Prompts" books ($3) (<--- I created and printed them myself. Turned out cool if I should say so myself!)
* 10 Post-it note sets with beaded pens ($3.50)
* 3 mini journals ($4)
* 6 mini legal pads ($3)
* 10 fridge calendars with tear off months ($1)
* 5 small gift boxes ($2)
* 5 jumbo paper clip bookmarks ($1.50)
* (planned 10 - 15 paper bookmarks) (undecided price)
I think that's about it. It's so hard to price things. Some are worth more, but this area has such a depressed economy that people don't pay much for things if they think they can get something similar from the dollar store.
Do you think I have enough? I have 2 tables to fill. I'll take pictures when I have my set up done.

WOW! you have been busy. Prices look good to me. My area also would not pay more on some of the items they could get at the dollar store. Handmade or not they just won't pay it. Good Luck with your sale.
Good luck with your sale!!! It sounds like you have enough to fill two tables....spread out your items so people can see what you've made. I think set ups that are 'overcrowded' don't look good.

But most amazingly: NO papercrafters!!
the craft fair i am participating in only allows one of each type vendor...for instance i am the ONLY SU table there...ONLY ONE tupperware type person ect. It is my first and hope it goes well (would be psyched for a workshop!!)

I agree with this. I am typically the only card vendor in most craft shows although it is starting to get more popular I would guess more would pop up at future shows. I too do not like to see repeated crafters (or retailers) at shows....2 or 3 tupperware, pampered chef. Enough! I work too hard on my cards for those retailers to sell something they don't hand make!

i TOTALLY agree with you on this one. Not to offend anyone out there who might sell Mary Kay or do Pampered Chef, but really - how is that a craft? I get annoyed too because the last fair I at, my booth was right next to the Pampered Chef lady. She was SOOO ANNOYING and scaring away all my customers by stalking them to ask them if they use Pampered Chef! Ugh!
I do know that around here, lots of fairs are pretty strict on what they allow in - it's a juried fair, and everything HAS to be hand-crafted in order to be accepted, so that's good.

I agree completely. Again, nothing against the people who do that kind of stuff, but it would be kinda like us selling SU stamps instead of the stuff we made with them at a craft show.

I'll be in two craft fairs like this this season. I had to send in pictures of my work & a picture of me actually working on something & then a jury decides whether to accept you. We're not allowed to sell anything NOT handmade. So while I can put out a sign-up sheet for my email list, I can't put out a catalog or advertise Stampin' Up! products.
I'll be in what they call a "vendor" fair too--that one allows all the Direct Sale businesses & I can put up my display & take orders (as well as sell crafts).
I'm nervous about the actual craft fairs because they are expensive ($85 & $90/table each) & I'm not sure if I have enough stuff! They are both supposed to be very well-attended & are the biggest ones I've ever been in so here's hoping!
Tip on displays---use your local Freecycle.org & post a Wanted for display racks! I did this & a lady who used to do craft fairs gave me a wire card rack that spins & has hooks too (which I'll use for ornaments & hanging items). I'm so excited to have something so professional looking!
i just finished my second craft fair: Audubon Arts and Crafts Fair in Henderson KY, last weekend. Saturday went very well, i sold out of paperclip bookmarks by lunch, and my altered binder clips soon after that. i called my hubby, and asked him to buy more, so when i got home, i made more. and on Sunday, i only sold 4 bookmarks, and 1 clip. i wished i had gotten more sleep.
anyway, here are the totals:
25 bookmarks at $1.50
7 binder clips at $2
1 onesie (packaged with a matching 3x3 card) $5
3 candles (1 sm $2, 2 lg $4)
2 box sets of cards (4 cards w/env) at $9
4 sets of cards (packaged in plastic w/paper topper) at $7
1 organizer set (cardstock folder with 4 cards & env) at $7
15 single cards $3 or 4/$10
i also had fabric tote bags that i made, and took orders for larger tote bags.
QUESTION...did you have a door prize at your table? I see the door prize forms on the SU site...I think it might be a good way to get emails/potential customers...what did you offer?

I just keep a sign-up list for email addresses at my table. It depends on the size/kind of fair. I've done door prizes where there's a central check-in & then you draw a name & call & tell them they won. The bigger fairs I've done ask me to just donate a door prize & then they pick a winner. The bigger ones around here don't let us advertise our SU! business, just sell handmade items--they let me keep a sign-up list though. I've gotten one good customer out of it. (Door prizes themselves haven't gotten me anything--I think it's more important to actually meet & talk with the person, not have them sign up just in hopes of winning something--which is what I'd do in their case & then I'd promptly ignore all subsequent emails.)
I DO use the door prize forms at workshops because it gives me extra info on the attendees.
a set of 4 wine charms (made with stamped Shrinky Dinks)
a card tote (looks like a paper purse that holds about 4 cards--I was thinking I'd sell them separately & they could choose their own set of 4 cards if they wanted.
I read to post 400 now to sleep and try to finish this thread later. Wow the great ideas. Hoping to find out what goes into the winter survival kit too.

Great ideas!!! I really wanted to do one this year, but chickened out! Maybe next year. I'm not a demo, so to sell anything with su! image on it I would still need to put the copyright on it?? That's what I am not sure of. If I were to make coasters, for instance, you would have to put a copyright on it, underneath or somewhere. Anyone have any better way to explain the angel policy??? Thanks for any help.
Hi Carissa--
The Angel policy is for demos and non-demos - anyone selling anything using SU images (although I don't think it applies to SU designer paper). You can have one of the Angel stamps (one that has the little copyright "c" and Stampin Up!) on the actual item, or on a tag that's attached to it.
Most stamp companies ask or require that you give credit to their images when selling items. You can check individual websites for requirements. Good luck selling your items!

I asked SU! about this & they said if the little copyright symbol that's on the paper isn't showing,then yes, you do need to use an Angel Policy stamp (simply printing labels with a copyright symbol isn't acceptable to them).
I believe I saw on a link from this thread where someone had used the new stamp set Inspired by Nature and had mounted 3 stamped pieces in a 3 part frame. (Hope that makes sense.) If anyone knows what I mean and can direct me to where I might be able to view this artwork, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I ask $10 for a set of wine charms. I think you probably could ask more though.

I believe it was done by PattyB (she hosts the Wednesdasy Wow forum on the demo challenges.)
I came back and finished reading from 400 to 1034.
Wow, you girls are so creative.
I did two fairs last year. At both I was the only paper craft booth. The first was an out door event in the sun with lots of traffic, my booth cost $50 and I made $4 total. My second was indoors on the worst snow day we have had in years, very slow day, my booth was free and I made around $150.
I was hoping to do some this year but haven't come across any in the area.
Things I sold are pretty much the same as listed in others posts. (post it note holders, cards, framed art, christmas tags, ornaments, accordian scrapbooks) The items I sold that I haven't seen here are cork boards, take out boxes full of candy, fry boxes with candy, santa gum, individual scrapbook pages 6x6 & 12x12, and gift card holders.
My top three sellers have been:
match book style post it note holders
christmas tags
accordian scrapbooks
Top three ideas from this thread I am going to try:
christmas fudge
tooth fairy box
acrylic post it note holder

25 bookmarks at $1.50
i also forgot to mention that a school principal asked if i had an apple stamp, and then ordered 20 more of the paperclip bookmarks for all of her teachers.
and i also had business cards that i printed out on the computer, and then stamped on. one woman asked if i would make business cards for her, i had never thought of that before.
It would be really NICE if some of you would say where you are - some have odd things in your "location" space under your picture, and I would LOVE to go the craft fair if it is in my area..... Example: Greetings by Debra has one today, but where is she? Up north stamping?
Also, I would love to share a booth with someone, we were going to do one at our local senior center - in their parking lot, but it got cancelled due to not many signing up TFS
I ask $10 for a set of wine charms. I think you probably could ask more though.
I don't have much experience, but I would think that you could start a little high, and at the end of the day, maybe lower the price some, if they haven't sold . . . . (?)

I work for a dental supply company, and when another exhibitor goes into the isle and "stalks" browsers, you can complain, and I do - this is pretty professional exhibit show, probably more professional and expensive, but if you purchased a booth, you have a right to complain about her!!!
