I need a suggestion from you ladies - I've seen people here mention that they package the cocoa mix sachets and sell them; but I've never seen anybody mention coffee sachets. I was thinking that it would be nice to package Starbucks Via coffee sachets and sell them just like cocoa with some poem, etc. Especially because I've seen more people who're coffee lovers than cocoa lovers. But I wasn't sure if it was a no-no because of it's caffeine or something else. Any opinions?
Hi Beth, I bought the Therm-O-Web double sided adhesive sheets like this (Therm O Web - Peel 'n Stick Adhesive Sheets 3 Sheet Pack [3738]) at Michael's for like $2.99 or $3.99. I have not used it yet, so I don't know how well it sticks, but it was the only thing I could find after looking at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Target, Joanns, etc. HTH!
I bought some of that and it isn't as sticky as the red line tape. My beads just wore off really quickly.
When I need this stuff, I use a coupon at Michael's then its not so pricey. They have bigger sheets of it as well as the strips of tape.
Ladies - Thanks for all the suggestions for sticky tape sheets!
While I was online ordering something else, I found some sheets waaayyyy cheaper! It is made by the same company that makes the tape for Score-Tape! I order the 1/4" and 1/2" rolls all the time but didn't think to look for full sheets! SCORE!
BTW! I found that my beaded pens fit PERFECTLY in the 1x8" candy stix bags! I tied a matching label and ribbon on the top...Cute! I am all about packaging..I think it just finishes off a gift so well.....I will post pix when I get a chance.
Thanks all!
Beth
Beth - let us know if that Scor Tape does the job on the beaded pens. I have some at home (not the sheet but the rolls) and I wasn't sure if I thought it was as sticky as the red line tape.
I also like putting my items in bags and the M&M bags for the pens is a great idea. I like putting a to/from tag on mine too, so people can give them out as gifts, just fill out the tag.
Enabler alert: Canadians...Staples has the mini gel pens on sale this week for $1.99!
I wonder when they will be on sale around here? They are currently $3.99 for a doz., which isn't too bad, but if they go on sale for $1.99 that would be great!
Ok, one more thing, and then I have to get crafting while DD is napping... I meant to mention that I was in Wal-Mart on Monday and they had a “rollback” on the single sheets. Now a single twin sheet is $3 (was $4) and the full size sheets are $6 (had been $8.00). I went ahead and got the full size, but need to put them on my tables to make sure they do not look too big. I bought black sheets, but debated because there is a nice color of gray and also khaki that I liked and would provide a neutral backdrop. Hmmm... do most people at shows you have attended stick with black???
I have biege tableclothes that I have been using but every time I see a booth with the black table coverings I really like how they look and make the items being sold stand out more. Last year I got some black dish towels at the dollar tree and put them under some of my items and especially the coasters to bring more attention to the items so they didn't blend into the light table cloth. Pic is in my gallary. I am seriously thinking of getting some black sheets this year. I am going to set up one of my tables and see if I like the way a twin or a full sheet fits. I also use bed risers under my table legs to lift the tables up 5 or 6 inches and I am thinking the full might work better. I got the bed risers last year at bed bath and beyond for $5 a set of four and it really makes a differance having your tables higher. I think people tend to browse longer when items are more at eye level and they don't have to constantly bend over to look at things booth after booth. I know my back felt alot better last year with the higher tables.
You guys may remember about a month ago I mentioned that I was in charge of the scrapbooking portion of a Ladies Craft Event at my church... Anyway, the event was this past Saturday and the coordinator let me setup a table of my items to sell so I thought I would let you know what sold. I made $69, plus got an additional $25 order for 4 coasters and 2 trivets that the lady needs by Christmas for gifts. The items I sold were:
1 jumbo paperclip bookmark
1 chipboard coaster magnetic post-it holder
6 CS post-it holders with mini gel pen
2 scrabble tile necklaces
2 tic tac treat boxes
3 recipe card holders
2 tile trivets (6x6)
I was pleased to make a little money, especially since it was FREE for me to setup – and I am hoping that people keep me in mind for future gifts they may need. This Saturday I am supposed to setup my 10x10 tent outside the little shop where the lady is selling my items so I have been busy crafting to replenish what I sold last weekend so my booth looks nice and full. Last night I made 3 large comp journals, 3 mini comp notebooks, 2 magnetic 4x6 post-it holders, and 2 RSVP pens. Hopefully since it is Labor Day weekend and the weather forecast looks nice (high of 83 and partly sunny) there will be a lot of people out shopping. I will you all know how it goes!
Hope everyone has a good day!
Sounds like you are doing great and having a good time too! I hope you have a SUPER SATURDAY!! Would love to see pics!!

Thats a though but they are actually nice table cloths and not all cotton and have no idea how they would take the dye. Dont want to take the chance on ruining them because I could still use them even if I get the black sheets for $3 at WM.
Does anyone have a good poem to go along with the candy cane seeds?
I once knew a gardener who knew how to grow
Bright tasty candies, right out of the snow
I asked him to share his secret with me
And this is what he replied quite readily
To garden in winter is difficult you see
It takes lots of care and a very special seed
I'll give you a couple to grow your own treats
And you'll soon reap a harvest of candy cane treats.
Ok Ladies!
I have a request for you....I need to find sticky tape in large sheets for my beaded pens! Anyone have a good (read cheaper) source?
Appreciate your help on this one!
Beth
The cheapest way to do this is to buy the 4.5" roll of Sookwang Be Creative tape. It's around $40 with shipping, but you get 27 YARDS of 4.5" wide double stick tape, and it works great for beaded pens. You can get a bazillion pens out of a roll!
Working on my first craft show this year. So excited! Hoping that someone could help me though. I want to make some of the reindeer poop, snowman poop and the Rudolf spares but I am not sure what size of bag to use or exactly how much you should put in them. Are the bags cello or zip lock bags?
I use the mini zip bags you buy at craft stores. For the poops (which a lot of people do mini marshmallows) I get the 3.5"x5" size. Same with Rudolph spares. I only put enough in the bag to make it look "full" but I don't overfill. I don't sell those however, just as gifts. I only sell food that comes pre-packaged or pre-wrapped. Candy Cane Seeds (round disc peppermint candies), Rudolph's spares (the red cinnamon pre-wrapped candies), and stuff like that. Elf Pillows out of the big peppermint pillow mints. The only food I handle is for the Reindeer Food, because it's not meant to be eaten.

I typed it wrong. The line before the last should say "I'll give you a couple to grow your own SWEETS"
I think these B&B hand sanitizer holders are toooo cute! (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ccY8AiJs4r...0/IMG_2904.JPG) If the hand sanitizer itself costs $1 or $1.50 (depending on if it is on sale) how much would you charge? Mine would not be stamped and then hand cut - I have the Mini Monsters cricut cart and would use that to save time...

Thank you! I have been really debating on whether to make these or not. So many of the ones I have seen are made with unwrapped candy. On the application I received it does say that any food including samples must be pre-approved first. I don't want to make a bunch of these up only to find out I can't use them.
I have seen some really cute projects for boys and girls with the cute monsters on them. Are they still available.
I would like stamps or papers.
Would appreciate your help.
Thanks,
ImLynne

To be safe - since that is on the app - I would only do pre-wrapped candy. I found a box of 72 packs of mini-marshmallows at Oriental Trading, and the package says "Snowmen come unassembled". You could make a cute poem about building snowmen, put the pack in a cute box or something, and sell it and make a profit.
The round peppermint discs make great candy cane seeds, and those are pre-wrapped. They have the potential to sell. The Rudolph's spares out of cinnamon discs. You could use the generic brand of Tic-Tacs for "Snowman Poop". I am doing "Elf Pillows" like I said - that candy is pre-wrapped too.
You could get the mini tootsie rolls, wrap some kind of paper around them quickly, and sell those as reindeer poop.
Let the managers know that all your food will be pre-wrapped.

Haven't read further but I use this company for beaded pen adhesive

I don't understand; why is there a need for a new thread?
After 5,000 posts the threads get a little crazy. Posts start to disappear, the thread takes a long time to load, etc. So generally at 5k posts, a new thread is started to continue the discussion.
Don't think SCS is that strict about it. I was active on a thread that was up to over 14,000 posts before we moved to a new one...and we never had any problems...

Beth, did I miss the boat? Where did you get the candy stick bags??? Pkg is almost as important as what is inside.
Does anyone have a good poem to go along with the candy cane seeds?
Here is one I have written for you.
Candy Cane Seeds
Plant these seeds of red and white,
In powdered snow on a Wintery night.
Add water softly (like a gentle rain),
And by morn they’ll grow into candy cane.

I haven't seen the Starbucks Via packet yet but I like the idea of doing coffee. I was also thinking of doing hot cider as I love to drink it in the fall. Someone brought in a box to work and of course, I immediately thought CRAFT SHOW! Nobody appreciated my enthusiasm for a new idea. lol
I also like putting my items in bags and the M&M bags for the pens is a great idea. I like putting a to/from tag on mine too, so people can give them out as gifts, just fill out the tag.
Here are the beaded pens in the 1x8 bags. I made a few for my friend who is a thirty-one demo. She uses all of my crafty stuff for prizes (i put a sticker on them with my contact information and website) and in turn hands out my business cards. I usually get 2-3 orders from every party! And she has a party every week...sometimes 2 or 3 times a week! It's a great deal for both of us! She gets free door prizes to give away, and I get customers! She also lets me use her discount on bags/purses that I want!
Thirty-One colors are hot pink and black so went with the zebra thing since it is a favorite of hers:
Thanks for looking!

Checked my staples today for the mini gel pens and they are not on sale here. I decided to by sticky notes for next year and our staples was out of the staples brand and is replacing them with the post it note brand so I bought a whole case for next year at a dollar a 12 pack and the case was 18 packs of 12 for $18 of the post it note brand YIPEE!! The shelf was empty but I had to ask for them and the lady said yes we have them and got them for me. So if your shelves are empty ask for the substitution as I don't think they are advertising this.
Ok, one more thing, and then I have to get crafting while DD is napping... I meant to mention that I was in Wal-Mart on Monday and they had a “rollback” on the single sheets. Hmmm... do most people at shows you have attended stick with black???
I checked out the sheets at Wal-Mart today. They were all out of the black singles in twin and full. I decided I would go with the twin size even with the bedrisers because there was just too much material in the full size and I didn't want anyone getting there feet tangled and tripping, esp me. The twins allowed full coverage of the front of the table going almost to the floor and a small amout over the back still allowing easy access to extra stock and supplies stored under the tables. I did find dark navy in a twin set, one flat one fitted and one pillow case on clearance for $5 for the set. I bought 3 sets (I usually use 3 6ft tables at the shows) just in case I never get the black ones. I figured I could cover the tables with the flat sheets and then after setting up the night before the shows I can cover all my items on the tables with the fitted ones. Since my first two shows are on the same day I needed the extra table coverings and can use the sheets at one show and the biege table cloths I already have at the other show and decide which set up I like the best and use for the remaining shows.
