Diane, I want to know how you keep the purses closed. I have made them with velcro - but it doesn't work very well. I have not been able to find the ultra thin velcro.
Your stuff is DARLING - wish you much luck at your upcoming sale
For the llip balms, I was able to get them 2 for $1 at the dollar store. I will probably charge $3 each for them. Total cost was about 80 cents each.
For the magnets..those ones are extra large glass 2" wide. The images are colour copies that can be resized to whatever you like.
I make lots of glass magnets in 3 sizes - the pebble, 1", 2" and 3". I use mixed medias.. stamped images, magazine words/images, glitter glue, coloured markers, etc. It makes them each unique and different.
Thanks ladies for the feedback..xo

Cathy,
For these particular purses, I actually glue them shut, and keep an open sample available for people to see.
People don't really need to open them. I made them last year too and glued them shut. People didn't seem to mind, because only the gift receiver needs to open it.
I do make other ones that close with velcro for gift card holders. I found some clear mini velcro dots at Walmart recently that are thinner, and work better for paper.
Very nice projects, Diane - AND everyone else who have posted their items. I love seeing them - and sort of hate seeing them too cause it makes me want to do that particular project as well. My list keeps growing and I got to cut it off somewhere!!!
My first sale is Saturday and I'm pretty ready for it. Hopefully it will go well. I have three sales to do and lots of stuff ready for them - not sure if its enough for three sales, but its a start!
Good luck Mary on your sale.
Diane, thanks for your response. I had never thought about gluing them shut - that is certainly what I would do if selling them. . . and if I ever get to WalMart I will see if they have the thin velcro. Thanks again. LOVE your projects and feel the way Mary does - TOO MANY GREAT IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So far I have 24 Magic Reindeer Food (in MS test tubes) made, 37 of the Rudolph's Spares (in small round tins) made and am almost finished with my 13 popcorn gift containers. I hope to get those done today. My problem is that I have a bunch of items started, but it needs to be finished. I am only doing one show, on November 6th, but I really need to start checking stuff off of my list... My saving grace is that my good friend is sharing the table with me, so all of the burden to create is not on me.
well...this weekend was a bust. The good news is that I didn't have to pay a booth fee and I made $40. The bad news is that I only made $40 and after I paid for my gas...and considered the cost of supplies...that was it. I broke even at $0. I sold 9 cards and a wall hanging.
All in all...I had a great day with friends...tasted some fab chili (there was a cook off there) and met some very interesting people...so it wasn't too bad.

I am making final items for my first craft show next week-end.
I made these Lip Balm Purses and M&M candy stix.
I am also attaching a pic of some magnets I made too.
Did you stamp and color these tags? They are gorgeous. (If you did, I would not include them with the treat because they are way too special. I would put them in a pack and sell them and just attach a simple and cute tag to the treats).
I interrupt your crafting for a cute crafting related story: One year I gave my niece (who was probably 7 at the time) gum that I altered and put into a little holder type thing. Nothing special, just what we do - and she was so excited because now "she had something to hold her gum in". I wonder how long she kept that for her gum packages. She just cracked me up.
Wow- I could spend hours on here reading all of the great ideas that you people have come up with! I love this site! I especially like the Halloween Soap Holder idea and think that this could be done up in so many other ways for different occasions or " just because". Thanks for the great info.

I think you should change that to "days and weeks", hours just doesn't cut it!

OH my gosh - I LOVE your cooking blog. All the visuals are so helpful and your instructions/directions are perfectly clear. I don't cook very much, but you have inspired me to make a few things next weekend.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I know it must be very time consuming with little rewards.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I also love seeing photos of works others are doing.
I cheated for these tags. My secret...it is clipart. lol
Can I ask what you'll charge for the lip balm purses and where do you buy the lip balm cheap enough to make a profit? I'm so new to the craft show arena in paper crafts and have my first coming up on November 19th.
I just ordered a bunch from my Avon lady, they are on sale for $0.69 and you can get everyday, or holiday. I checked the $ store, but they only had single packs for $1 a piece.

Avon's are likely to be so much better than those from the $$ store. I tried some of those and they were NASTY!

Thanks for that tip, Gina! They have a free shipping deal online with a $10 purchase too, code FREEFALL. And Avon is also on Ebates if anyone is signed up for that, 3% cash back. I just ordered some lip balms!
I could stay on this thread forever. I have had so much fun reading...I was trying to find a post about the nugget tins. How early is the earliest you would wrap the chocolates and get the tins ready? This is my first craft fair and as far as I know there won't be any papercrafters there. This board has been such a big help!
Someone please send me some motivation! I swore that I would have everything made and ready to go before next Friday and barely have anything done! I just need to work on stuff instead of just sitting here on the computer LOL

I'm feeling your pain, Jenn! I started off with a bang (and good intentions!) and somehow have lost the mojo. Luckily, I have until November 5th.
Now get off the computer and get some crafting done!
Sharon

They are super simple. I think Frenchie Stamps has a great tutorial. I am on my way out for an appointment but will see if I can put in a link in a coupla hours. . . ..
I made the ones from sarahsinkspot for my fairs last year and sold out of them at both shows and had a special order for more! I made mine a little different (to save time) and did not cut the middle piece to hold the tube in. Instead, I used a small rubber band and threaded it through the slit punched parts and had the rubber band hold the tube in. I also used sticky strip on the whole section (slits and all) so that it all layed flat. When that piece is done (the white part with the saying and the lip balm in place) attach that to the outside cover (red piece in Sarah's sample). Does this make sense? I know I don't have pictures of these from last year, but I was planning on making them again this year and will post a picture shortly.
People loved them because it was a card and gift in one! I used the same set Sarah did. I packaged them in cello bags tied with a pretty ribbon. Sold them for $2 because I got a great deal on the lip balm for .50 cents each.
