These are adorable...I'm thinking if I change it just a tiny bit they would make cute briefcases just in time for dads day. I've been doing a weekly farmers market...and it's been slowing down a lot. The problem with the farmers market...I seem to get a lot of the same customers. I'm always looking for something new so they don't get bored with me.

Diane,

I was going to take a picture for you, but I can't find it!! I want to say it's Velcro brand, but I got it at Walmart in the sewing section. It's self-adhesive, and I got either the lightest or 2nd lightest weight they had (NOT heavy duty). They're small circles (probably 1 inch), and the box is a rectangle (a little longer than a box for a deck of cards).

I'm not very good at descriptions so I will post a pic when/if I find the box

I live in Scotland and I thought I would post a picture of some candy (chocolate) bars that I made for a Scottish Celtic Fair to fundraise for my daughters school. , they are no where near as good as the snowman candy bars but there is not much of a market for snowman bars in June! LOL

Anyway, I don't think it would be a big seller for you girls over in the USA but I thought I'd share them anyway.
I've already got an order for 2 weddings for the favours, do you do wedding favours in the USA?

Those are cuuuute. I think they would sell here. Wedding favors are big here...at least in my area. I have done wedding favors...but it's a lot of doing the same thing over and over again. I think the reason I like doing the craft fairs and farmers markets is because I can make something different everyday. Thanks for sharing.

Well done. They look really good. Perhaps tourist gift shops may interested in some from you also ? Or hotel reception desks ? Great possibilities with them. TFS.

Its not very clear in the photo but the sporran sits proud from the kilt on a
foam pad, I got the image on google images. The tartan, belt and tux are also royalty free images from google images, all merged together on photoshop. I'm going to try and design a matching bride bar, if I can find useable images. If I manage , I'll upload it.

Default scrapbook pages

I was wondering if anyone did scrapbook pages for a craft fair? and if so what did you charge?
A co-worker wants me to do a craft fair this summer with her and I'm looking for ideas?
Shes going to do the baking for her part and I'm doing the "craft" part.
I'm open to all ideas, tutorials and prices
Thanks

I am sorry to hear that also. I am sure all your work is lovely too. It is just so hard these days to get all the ingredients right for a good fair. Look on the bright side you have a good start in your preparations for the Christmas fairs. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I agree. I sold at a Spring Craft Show in May. Was the week before Mother's Day. I thought it would be a great show! I was well stocked. Had a lot of "new" and "interesting" products. I sold $45 in product. $13 of that was a special order. I sold a few cards, book marks, and a word set. Aside from that, NOTHING...nada....I am thankful I made my table money ($10) back along with some profit, unfortunately, I didn't make enough to have covered the cost of the materials I used to make everything...
I have a space that I rent at a craft mall and sales are BAD there too, and not just for me, everyone said it is so slow...so, don't feel bad. It was a bad time. Your next show will be better. We all have the ones that are "bad experiences". It helps enlighten us for our next show! Keep your chin up, and don't give up!

Sorry to hear that the show was a bust.
My very first craft show I didn't sell a thing, unless you count the "pity purchase" from the lady I split the table with! I almost swore off craft shows for good, but then I realized my stuff was nice (darn it, everyone who says so CAN'T be wrong!) and I should give it another shot. I have had good shows and bad shows, but I am glad I gave it another shot. : )
Keep your chin up and give it a go during the holidays. I'm sure it'll be better!

I do a few shows per year and I ALWAYS do best at the Christmas show. I think people come to the Christmas shows with intent to buy, so I've always done best there. They're not just browsing, they are actually shopping! I wish I had time to do more shows during the Christmas season. It's just difficult to find the time when there is so much going on!

I've had those shows where I've sold nothing. It's horrible. Keep trying, and pray the economy gets better!

I posted this on the Christmas craft ideas forum, but thought I would also post it here. I saw this cute stacked box snowman that I am wanting to make for gifts and to sell and was wondering if any of you would know where I could find the cute wooden pipe that he is smoking?

I can't help with you with the exact same thing, but a few years back I did a snowman and made my own pipe using a toothpick and a seed pod from a variety of Eucalyptus (I suppose it looks similar to a small acorn cap)
Another idea would be to make one using a cork for the pipe end. I thought I had a photo but can't find it... I do have the santa still and could go upstairs and get it for you if you need it... Actually that might be a great idea anyway as it makes a great cookie or lolly jar which would probably sell at fairs...I haven't tried it. I just did it as a kids activity craft at a big outreach event!

Thanks for your kind words ladies, it has taken me a while to put it behind me. I think I will stick to the Christmas fairs, most of my ideas are based around Christmas anyway, so I think that's best.

Keep all the good ideas coming, I love reading about them!

I followed Monica's instructions (see Beth's post below for the video). The adhesive she uses is the same as our Modge Podge here in the states. I used the matte finish on mine:

craft fair 2010 by tat2girl - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I believe Monica was the originator of these, so please give her the credit she deserves, if you pass the instructions along. I'm being snide here, but that's another story for another forum, I'm sure.

Thanks

Love these! So cute! So, any idea where to get the rulers? I looked at Staples and Walmart today with no luck!

I got mine at Target last year. I was lucky and got them on clearance for 10 cents each. I'm sure with school supplies being put out soon, the will have them again.

Looking for a little advice. Yesterday...I had 4 people standing in front of my booth...for a very very very long time (almost an hour)...just chit chatting away. How do you ask them to move along so somebody could buy something? Wanted to ask if they were going to stay would they contribute to the cost of my booth space...since they were taking up residence there. I didn't. I just let them stand there and chit chat away. ugh...was a little dumb when I look back at it. What do you say to people like that? "Move...you're blocking my view of the customers"

I would probably go and stand out there and hand out business cards or strike up conversation. Anything to interrupt them and let them be aware of where they are.

BTW Lisa, I love your quote about organized people. I have just shared it with my husband as he handed me a cup of tea in my messy craft room. He has gone off laughing. Thanks for that.
