Way to go Carla...your pictures are an inspiration. I haven't been here in a while because I've been busy busy busy...selling at a weekly farmers market and traveling with The Rubber Cafe to the scrapbook expo...many more of those to come. I've been selling a lot of squash books...but I'm getting a little tired of making the same thing all the time...and the customers at the farmers market are often repeats. I'm looking for something that will give it that wow. Being that my next market is early tomorrow morning...I don't think that's going to happen. I'm working on a few boxes like these

dscf1478.jpg dscf1466.jpg

but with more of a spring look (flowers, pinks, greens). I've also done this wall hanging for The Rubber Cafe booth

dscf1821.jpg

I want to make more to sell...but can't decide what to sell it for.

This is a bit of a long shot but here goes, when I was reading this thread at Christmas time I loved the snowmen candy / chocolate bars, when I got blog hopping on it I found a crafter who had made a scottish chocolate bar with a kilt wrapping. I thought Id bookmarked it but cant find it now, does anyone else remember seeing this?

I have seen the snowmen with tartan patterned hats and scarves but not with kilts. I googled snowmen chocolate bars images. Maybe that might help.

Smile Spring Fair

Just back from setting up my stall for tomorrow's Spring Fundraising Fair.
I have kept my stall simple due to time restrictions and have made notebooks, tooth fairy tins, altered clothespins and baby cards. I was donated craft magazines and books to sell also. I'll take some photos and let you know which items sold best tomorrow.

Thanks Anne, I could kick myself for not bookmarking the site properly. The fair is in May so a tad early for snowmen! I'm thinking I could make the bar into a kilt if I can think of a way to make a sporran

I have tried to take this message out as I was answering someone's question on applying velcro dots to make them permanent, however, my answer popped up where it doesn't belong. I'm new to the site and I don't know what I'm doing. So, just ignore this message. It won't let me take it out.

I have been known to use Super Glue for keeping the velcro on. Otherwise, I've had the same experience you had with them eventually coming off. Hope this helps.

I have been lurking here for a while, you ladies have such great ideas it has spurred me into a few fairs this year!!

Can anyone help me please? I am looking for the acrylic post it stands, I can only find them in Staples here, but they are 4 each (about $6), which means I would have to charge a fortune for them!!

Also I am looking for a general poem about candy, that I can use on some retro jars with a tag, most of the ones I can find seem to be Christmas related.

Thanks

Sarah

Default Need Help with M& M bags

I have been searching through this post but cannot find the answer, so would greatly appreciate anyone advising me on,the following.

When using the 1x8 " bags filled with the candy with the self closure flap at the top.....what method do you use to secure the tag at the top of the bag. Thanks so much, I have to make 41 of these for my grands classes for Easter.

I don't use the adhesive flap, I just cut it off and tie the top of the bag with some crochet threat and attach the tag to that. I have some of the ones I made on my blog, you can see them here.

I've done both. If I close the flap, it's because I've put the "tag" on top like this:
craft fair 2010 by tat2girl - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
For my Holiday Fair, I attached them like Christel's.

Not sure what I'm doing for my Spring Fair. The candy is loaded, just not sure what to do for the tag, yet.

I don't trust the adhesive strip....too many popped open when I made my first batch! I use punches (either the scalloped circle or squares or the tag) and staple that to the bag, then cover the staple with another punched image.

HTH,
Kat

Hi Sarah,

I am sorry I cannot help you with the acrylic frames. They are very expensive here in Ireland too. I would love to make them and include them in my items for fairs if they can be sourced cheaply.

Love your blog.

Sarah: I found the best prices for the acrylic frames at WalMart, but it looks like you are not here in the States, so I'm not sure that's much help to you. At WM, I can usually get the 5x7 frames for about $2 - sometimes even $1. Good luck....

Thats what I was looking for!!. I have seen a number using scalloped toppers with an image ( for the season) on the top of the bags . I suspected they were stapled on ,and I also assume the top of the bag is stapled between two scalloped tags.......am I right on this???????? Thanks again.

Yup! That's exactly what I do. I wish I had a photo of mine here at the office, but I don't. HOWEVER, here's a lovely example from 'krischir':

Thanks Anne, I have stalked yours for inspiration, you have some great stuff!!

Kat, thanks for the tip, I am in England, but I am coming over next week so I will try to get to a Wall Mart. I am bringing a large suitcase!

Anne, I did find them available to import to the UK, but the shipping was $70, maybe if we clubbed together, it would be worth it, but of course we would have import duty and the dreaded PO "admin" fee too!

Check the Dollar Stores while you are here, too!
If you'll be on the east coast, there is a store called the Christmas Tree Shops: Christmas Tree Shops - Don't You Just Love a Bargain
Also Garden Ridge (check for locations): Garden Ridge
Have fun while you are here!

Have a great time Sarah. Don't forget the discount coupons too for the big chain stores. Oh you will have a great time. Craft shopping in the USA. Nothing beats it. LOL. Enjoy !

Don't worry about the frames for me. I have family in the US who wll post stuff for me. I just hate sending them off with my list. It is so random and quirky for non crafting folk. LOL.

I will just dream shop online for the moment. I bought some rulers today to alter so that will keep me happy for a while.

Safe travels and - if your trip is long enough - you can go online to Walmart.com and order for "site-to-store" to pick-up at whatever store you'll be near (no shipping fee and a much, much larger selection of craft-related items).

Here's a link:
Walmart.com: Craft & Party Supply: Crafts: Scrapbooking & Paper Crafts

HTH and ...

Happy Crafting!

I did nt have any of the specific products shown but used what I had on hand. Very easy, fast and reasonable item for craft fairs. Posted on my blog today.
This project looked so fun and easy that I had to give it a try. I used this technique to make flower tags for my stamp set storage baskets too! I have photos posted in my gallery and on my blog.

Thanks for the links everyone!

Did anyone have any suggestions for a candy related poem that I could use?

Thanks

Sorry Sarah, I am not good on poems or verses.
On another note, I googled the frames in Walmart and they were offering 20 frames at different sizes for 14.99 dollars. Worth checking out when you are there.
