Thanks for sharing the idea Tracy!
I really like your card. I have a question though. It looks like you stamped the canvas background all together on one flat surface. When I fold my card, the lower left corner is actually folded in. My folds are stamping are done exactly like the previous sketched picture. Are you folding differently? If not, WOW, how did you get the canvas background and scrolls to line up so well? Just curious because your stamping pattern looks a little different than the rest. Thanks!

Default Making it larger

You can make it larger easily, but you may have a problem with the envelope. A 7 x 10 7/8 sheet vertically scored at 3.5 and 5 will yield a card that takes a 5x7 envelope (makes a 3.5x3.5 square on front).

An 8x11 sheet scored at 4 and 5.5 takes a half-fold envelope (makes a 4x4 square). I think it looks more proportionate fills the envelope if you use an 8x12.5 sheet.

Keep in mind that the first vertical score must be half the width of the paper in order to keep it perfectly square.

I think if you use the 8x11, you need to score at 4 and 6....(adding 1/2"). I tried the 4 and 5.5 and it didn't work???...........I am gonna try with these measurements and see if it works any better.

I don't think so. If you tack the square down, it won't open all the way. If you left it free, they could open it all the way, and it would just refold when they closed it.
Thats how it seems to be working for me anyways.

Smile Thank you

Thank you so much for the instructions. I did mine on a piece of typing paper and it worked really great. I can't wait to go home tonight and try it on some card stock. This is going to be one of my Halloween Stamp Camp cards.

Please forgive my sketches - this is why I LOVE my rubber stamps! LOL!

This is so helpful. Practiced with scratch paper last night and mine looks like it's supposed to!

I'll try and describe what i did.

I did the glue step like Dancingrain described. When I open my card the squares are at the back. I looked at mine again and it doesn't open all the way like Nicole's does like I once thought.

If you attach the square(s) to the card it will only open partially. I didn't go back and re-read everyone's post but someone only attached top square and it opened a little more at the bottom (the fold will unfold to the left).

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.

Question I think I have this, but I have a question

Since I am directionally impaired, it was kind of scary when I got it right off the bat....or at least I think I did. This card looks kind of small. Is the finished rectangular part supposed to be 4 1/2 x 2 3/4, and the square 2 3/4? This is a neat card. Thanks for sharing it.

hey you guys, I know there's been a lot of talk about how complicated the fold is but it's actually less intimidating than it might seem. it's a really fun and unusual fold but really easy once you actually try it. don't let the newness scare you, just do it!

This is SO neat! I was playing with opening it and trying to figure out a way that it could open a little easier and what I came up with is this:

Use your adhesive to glue the top and bottom square to the card and all the smaller places in the diagonals.
BUT.. not the fold at the left tip of the square that sticks off the card.
Then, use scissors (or your paper cutter) and cut open that fold--just to the side of the card. Because you have glued it all together, you can't really tell that it would be 'open' there and not on a fold. Bingo! your card open just like any other card and you don't have to worry about it not folding back together right.

Hope this makes sense.. haven't had my coffee yet

Thanks for sharing this cool fold!

Default Someone Please Help!

Could someone please post a pic of the card open? I got the fold but is there a trick to the inside, or do you just not open it all the way, or no adhesive and open it all the way?

HELP!

I sat down and figured out this card the other night so that I could make swaps for my upline's demo meeting, and they were a huge hit!

Here's my big tip for making the fold work: when you make the diagonal folds, be sure that the "arrow" points toward the long end of the card (away from the two perfect square sections). If you get the diagonals going the wrong way, it won't fold properly.

I did glue mine and what I did so that it would open all the way was to cut the fold of the left tip of the square(or diamond.. depending on how you look at it ) -- with it being glued together, you can't tell that it would be an 'open' end rather than a 'folded' end and it allows the card to open all the way.

Hope that makes sense...

FUN CARD! My oldest dd is having a SU! Birthday party and when she saw this card she wants to make her invites with it.

My first one I glued the square just on the front. It opens almost all of the way. But my second one I left free standing and really like that one sooo much better. Have fun!

I made a couple of them. It's a fun fold.

The black is just so the card would scan and show up. It is not part of the card.

Ok...I just had to post to this thread. I love this card and tried for two hours to fold it...then I went to bed. This morning, I made a new one and tried and tried and tried....Well, just like the others said, by accident it just fell into place. This was right after I screamed in frustration. Now it seems so easy. Thanks for the great fold. I'm going to use it at my fancy folds class this weekend!!

Default ok i'm a retard

I got this thing to fold and look right , except I can't open the darn thing at all - did I go backwards or what?????

Or do I just "cheat" and slit up the left side so it does open like a traditional card?

Thanks for any help!!

Ok - never mind on the above - I got it to work - woohoo!!!!!
and even open properly - can't wait to use these as little thank you cards for hostesses and the such
Let them be amazed!

Thanks so much for the directions. I love the look of this fold. My first attempt was miserable but it all of sudden worked in my second attempt. Here's my finished product. The ribbon served to hold the diamond flap down.
