Question color block card

I just seen a wonderful card posted with the new "Looks Like Spring" stamp set. I just wandered if there was patterns for a card like that. Thanks for any help...

That makes two of us. Is there a template for the color box technique to cards?

Default I found this on another thread

I found this posted on another thread - I went looking, because I love that look too:smile:

This week's TLC is Color Blocking.

This is another technique that is easier to describe after you have seen it!
Here is one by michelerey:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers elds
And another by kittenkisses:
Gallery at Splitcoaststampers elds

So, basically what you do is cut out blocks of cardstock in complimentary colors and layer on black (usually). Some of the blocks contain stamping while most are plain. I know that there are templates you can buy at your local stamp/scrapbook store for this purpose, but I know you talented ladies can do this! Start with one main stamped image (not too big), cut it to size and then start cutting blocks to fit around it.

I look forward to seeing all your creations!

I am in search of suggestions for techniques for future TLCs! Please PM with suggestions and a link to the directions and/or a sample if you can. Thanks!

As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share!
When you upload, please put TLC49 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.

If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!

I have used my computer to make templates. Put a square the size of your card down (I use Microsoft PictureIt) then add other squares (expand, shrink as needed) within the block. You can then print out on cardstock and cut out.

I really like the computer idea and will try it, but I am still wondering if there are any templates out there?

Talking

I finally have had time to play and I found that, for example, if you are making a 6x6 scrapbook page, I cut black cs 6x6, then two other colors 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. Then I cut up the same. That why I came out with enough for 2 pages. Just the opposite colors. I then stamped one only one of the colors. I like the way it turned out and I'll be trying more colors...

Deluxe Designs has card color blocking templates. Actually, they have them in all sizes up to 12x12. They are my favorite!

I just pick a piece that I want to be the biggest and then work around it....You can see several in my gallery....but I don't claim to be any sort of expert.

Here are some color block templates that I created on my computer. The blocks are created on an area that is 4.25 x 5.5, so it should be accurate.

One way to use them is laminate the templates, measure the blocks, cut out your cs, lay it out on top of the laminated piece and tape together with removable tape, turn the taped pieces over and add adhesive. You can then easily attach it to your cs with the correct spacing.

Another way is to cut out the color pieces using a craft knife, leaving the white card piece whole. You can then use the pieces as patterns, or measure and cut out your cs. Then just simply place the card template over your card and place your cut pieces in the matching hole and attach.

Hope they work for you. I really like the color block look.
