Question Bottle Caps

I figure with all the wonderful talent on SCS that someone will be able to answer this burning question that I have. I love using bottle caps as embellishments on cards, but they are so expensive to buy. I've been having my kids save the tops from their juice bottles, but how the heck to I flatten them? In a couple of staming mags they say to use a rubber mallet to flatten them, but when I tried that it definitely wasn't pretty!! Just a tad too flat, KWIM??Can someone please help a girl out?

If you have a local beer making shop near you, you can purchase bottle caps pretty inexpensive, or there are several places online you can surely find them.

I flatten mine with a rubber mallet and have no problem. I put them flat side down on my husband's workbench and give them 5-6 good hard whacks with the mallet. The crimped edge has a nice curl to it.

Hope this helps.

I have heard that you need to use unused caps because the used ones (the ones saved from beer or juice bottles) just don't flatten properly or attractively.
