Ok, I did an "experiment" today, and now you get to play along : )
On my blog I have posted some pictures of images I colored today, you have to guess which one(s) are colored with the Copics, and which one(s) are colored with the Bic Mark It Permanent Markers.
I asked my husband to pick out the one he thought was done with the more expensive marker (ie, better blending, better color), and he said he couldn't tell a difference.
When I colored with them today it was easy, and the blending worked pretty much the same for both (go figure!)
A bit later I will post a tutorial on the technique, but for now, stop by my blog and post your guess as to which image was colored with which marker : )

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the tip...I'm sooo gonna get me some Bic's!!
Try the method with Sharpies, i just did and it works wonderfully as well. Also, I did some additional blending with a Prisma blender pen and on some colors it lifted colors (the pink) but if used lightly it helps to blend all the colors and soften the images. I will post on my blog later tonight on the sharpies and prisma blender pen.

Well, I checked out the pictures but couldn't leave a comment without creating an account - like I really need another password to keep track of. I'll take the contrary opinion that it is the drawing on the left. Why you ask? The blending appears to be more uniform than the blending on the right.
It was your post and tutorial that pushed me to buy the bic markers today. Just couldn't pass up that deal...they were only 20$ for 36 different colors, and they all seem to have shades in the package that could be used for blending. Thanks so much for posting this, it really saved me some $$$ while I was drooling over the copics!

Am just getting ready to do the video, hopefully will have it done and posted tonight...most likely late, but before midnight ; )

I have had these Bic markers for a couple months now - they were on sale at Staples for $10, and I had $9 in rewards coupons, so I got the pack for $1! I was so excited - and now I can't wait to try this technique!
