Argh! Gamsol smearing ink! HELP!

I am so frustrated! I bought some Prismacolour pencils and gamsol and stumps for a project I'm working on and sat down to use them last night. I'm using SU whisper white and I tried both SU basic black and Versafine and the gamsol smears the ink. I then searched here and found the suggestion to try a different paper. The only other paper I have is Domtar, so I tried that and it's no better (and it pills). I need to get these cards done as samples for someone and I'm in Canada so I don't have time to order from Papertrey for more paper (and we don't have GP at our Walmarts). Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm going to try heat setting and if that doesn't work I will just emboss it (does Gamsol break down the embossing? hope not!). Just thought I'd see if anyone had a similar problem and came up with a solution.

The whisper white seems to not be drying before you start. (whisper white has some issues!) Do you have any confetti card stock?

I have always used Staz-On with my Prismacolors & gamsol.

in my experience, Gamsol does break down the embossing.

I haven't had any problems with the Palette black ink.

If you have Black Stazon use it with your Whisper White. Another ink that will work well with Whisper White is Adirondak Black.

You have to use a permanent ink like Staz-On or Palette - SU's whisper white should work okay when you use these inks although Georgia White works so much better. Are you sure your Wal-Mart doesn't have it? I've found it in every WM I've ever been in... it's in the office supplies section.

Ditto.. try a more permanent ink. I've even found Stazon to smear just a little. Palette Hybrid black and Adirondak Black both have worked for me with no smearing at all - on any white paper.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I haven't yet seen Palette inks up here in Canada but I know I've seen Adirondak - so I'm off in search of it! You're all awesome!

Yes, I discovered just the other night that Gamsol and embossed images do not do well together! More than an hour's worth of embossing and coloring was down the drain (and in the trash) in minutes!

Ditto, ditto, ditto! I always thought Staz-On was great, until I bought the Palette Hybrid Noir ink! I think I'm in LOVE with it! I use it on Whisper White, PaperTrey's white, Shimmer White, Very Vanilla......NO problems! I have it in Burnt Umber too so that I have a brown option. LOVE it!

the charcoal is nice for a gray option too. :-) I have three of the pads and simply love them, my black is by far used more then anything! I was having smearing on my whisper white before using this because the ink was not drying quickly. I switched to Beckett Expressions 80# cover weight in iceburg and love it!

Default Gamsol

Memories Black ink is awesome for this technique. Just completed a bunch of cards and had no problem at all with this ink and I used SU white cs and the vanilla c/s -- no billing, no image problem. Memories inks are readily available anywhere in Ontario.
