Alternative to using Sizzix Swinging Popup Platform die?

I know there are a lot of pop-up cards out there, but what I'm looking for is a single template that will do what the Sizzix Spinning Popup Platform will do.

Yeah, I can buy the die ($39.99) and the required extended crease pad ($19.99) and the required extended cutting pad ($19.99), but surely there is a work-around that doesn't cost $80 in supplies.
