Yeah I too thought that I would get them from Dollar Store but when I try to order them online it says they're out of stock.

I guess Walgreens is my only option(I'm a no-walmart person).

The Dollar Stores sometimes have little comp books too, in a three pack I think, but they aren't as nice as the ones WalMart/Walgreens and other stores sell. They are usually on sale around the time school starts. Hope you can find a good deal on them.

Michael's sometimes have those nice little notebooks with a pen attached in their dollar spot, and on clearance in their dollar spot so look there too if you have one near you.

Or you can be like me, open a random cabinet door at home and find a ton of the big and small comp notebooks and then just close the door and back slowly away. I must have bought a ton one year when they were on sale and clearance. Its a crazy amount that I found.

My first sale is this Saturday. I'm about ready for it, just need to do the Hershey snowmen, big and small and then I found a cute Turkey and Elf candy leg projects to do. Working on the Elf at work today, cutting out the shoes, and hopefully I can get them done tonight. I'll be punching for the turkey when I do my laundry this week. Every spare moment seems to be filled with punching/coloring or cutting these days.
My crafting area is a huge mess right now (which is the living room). Sunday after the sale I plan on doing some sort of cleaning in the house!
The turkey and elf leg sound really cute.......would you mind posting the link? thanks

I was at a Stamp show last weekend and found this adorable item. It has candy inside. My first show is at a church so I thought this would be perfect.

I have been invited to participate in a Holiday Boutique in November. I guess that's a good time to put out Christmas stuff, right? I'm still debating since I have signed up for two small ones in December already. I think I may be over committing myself. Actually as I'm typing this, I just convinced myself that I don't need to do another one

I have one on December 7th at a high school and the 14t at a local church.

Default Snowman Hugs

I just finished making 120 snowman hugs for my craft shows this year. The picture is posted to my gallery. I made 100 last year and sold out at my second show. I'm prepared this year.....I purchased some extra nugget wraps to cover any snowman avalanche that might occur at the shows.

Those are SO CUTE!!! Are the hats baby socks or did you make them? Do you sell them individually or in sets?

The hats are the fingers cut off from gloves. I purchased them last year from the dollar store....2 pair for 1.00. I sell them individually .75 ea. Each sale was for more multiple hugs. And the pastel ones sold out first.

Yes, mine too! I will sometimes bring punching or glitter glueing tasks to work to do on my breaks.
I also find my finger and hand joints begin to hurt when I am overusing them like this. From the punching and cutting and making the same hand movements for 50-100 items!

Last night I used pencil crayons to colour rubber stamped images for my tic tacs. That hurt my neck too. LOL

Your items are very cute!

Can you share the pattern you use for the lip balm/gloss stand-up boxes?

Cut paper 7 1/2 x 1 1/2
Score at 1", 2", 3" and 4"
Punch a 5/8" circle between the 1 and 2" score(this is where the lip gloss goes). Fold each score with the first one laying against the long end of the paper. It folds up like a square. Then I rounded the corners of the long end and punched a hole to put the ribbon through.

Hope I explained this clear enough. Any questions just let me know.

AND the snowman hat in your gallery Knox. That is super cute. I really like those little snowmen - I'll have to look at that for next year. They are just adorable!

Do they hold in there ok or do you have to secure it with a glue dot?

I did glue dot some of them....and the rest I didn't.....they do hold OK but if you're transporting them to a craft show you might have to adjust them a little.

Default 2013 Craft Sale Best Sellers

ATTENTION CANADIAN CRAFTERS? heads up on who is now selling Hershey Nuggets in Canada............SOBEYS!

So far they are only carrying small bags. Oddly enough I just spoke to the Hershey Rep two weeks ago and inquired if we would ever get the nuggets here, as I usually load up with the big bags when we are in the U.S.

She said that Hershey Canada was a separate company from its u.s. counterpart and as such operates differently. I wonder if that means that Target will carry the big bags. Anyway just wanted to pass this along in case anyone wanted to make some wrapped nugget gifts for someone special not necessarily to sell.

This is a cut lip balm holder using the same idea that Knox shared. I watched it because it helped me visualize how to put the box together. Super easy.
Most expensive part is the actual lip balm.
Lip Balm Holder using Valentines Defined - Create! with Dee

How much do you charge for your lip balms gals?
I usually make the purses and charge $3each. I have to buy the good quality lip balms too because people ALWAYS ask the brand of lip balm used!

I have seen the nuggets in bulk stores here also but they still cost more than getting them in US. Canada taxes chocolate but US doesn't add tax. That makes a big difference when making a lot of them.

I always try to get some dark chocolate too as people always ask if I have anything in dark.

I went to get some from Bulk Barn but she said it was a Christmas item and they wouldn't be getting them until the beginning of November. So when I was in the States I bought three of the big bags. I still think they are cheaper than the bulk ones. Let's hope someone up here will carry the big bags at the same price as the US

I discovered these three years ago and they were referred to as candy cards.
I usually make them with a cut out shape so you can see the candy.

If you are good with making curved sentiments you might want to try the following (I cheat with curved stamps) lol

Okay cut out a circle in the front of the card and fill your bag with lifesavers
Around the circle print .. "you're a lifesaver"

I have a circle stamp that says "Thank You" in a circle which I also use. If anyone wants the dimensions of these I will be happy to share. Sorry I don't know how to post pics but you have already seen a good example.

I thought maybe Target in Canada might start with the big bags. Worthwhile to check out. I am too to lazy to drive cross town and will wait until the new one opens ....ten minutes away.

I also buy the big bags of Hershey Kisses in the U.S.they are most definitely cheaper down south.

I buy the big bag at Walmart or target down south, for $9.89 and there are on average 121 nuggets per bag. Trust me I have counted, so that tells you what you pay per nugget as opposed to Bulk Barn.

Default Lip gloss holder

This is my version of the lip balm holders Knox shared (THX). I changed some of the dimensions and used some cute lip gloss I picked up after xmas last year.

They went together really quick I made 48 of these.

Does anyone make the nugget tins? I bought some tins a long time ago and found them in my closet the other day. I never tried decorating or selling them. For those of you who make/sold them, were they big sellers? How much did you charge?

They look very pretty Diane! If you don't mind me asking, how much are you planning to sell them for?

I finished a bunch of things yesterday - pillow box tea bag holders, travel tissue pouches and almost done with socks cupcakes, just waiting for the cello bags to arrive so that I can bag them. Didn't even realize how the hours flew away. When I start I think to myself, "oh I have 2-3 hours today I should be able to finish everything today" and then I find that just making toppers for some item took away an hour!

I made them a few years ago, and sold them for 2 years in a row. One year they went great, and then not so much the next year. I still have some tins, so I debate doing them again, but haven't gotten that far yet. I honestly don't remember what I sold them for but something in the $3-4 dollar range, likely. Good luck!

I made them around 4 years ago and they didn't move very well for me, so I ended up just giving them away as gifts. I sold them for $3.50, I believe. I've had better luck with nugget purses.

Default Anyone try selling Brenda's Hershey kisses Christmas trees?

Hello!

I LOVE Brenda's Hershey kisses tutorials, etc! Such amazing ideas! I make a few of the Christmas trees she has the tutorial done up for, and wondered if anyone has sold them at a craft fair? I think they are so cute that I think they would sell (giving her full credit of course for the design!) Has anyone tried those? Did they sell and what price?

Thanks so much! My first show is 11/2 and I am SOOOOO far behind, I need quick and impactful this next 2 weeks!

Maria

I made some of the Hershey kisses trees last year, only sold a few at $2 but I was planning on doing them for my son's class anyway. I may try again this year at a different fair, I think I could sell more to the right crowd.
As for quick and impactful, some of my biggest sellers last year were the glass pebble magnets and picture frame magnet boards I made at the last minute to fill out my table, using stuff already in my crafting stash.

I have tins but haven't made them yet. The tins are pricey so I think they need to be priced at least at $4 to make the profit margin.

I have also seen these filled with card sets.

What did you use to make the picture frames magnetic?
I have seen picture frames as dry erase boards but not magnets.

I make quite a few glass magnets every year but I use the 1 1/4" size. They sell for $2 each. But, they aren't really quick for me, as part of the creative process is choosing the images and I will sometimes collage the image and words and such.

Hmmm.. quick. Paper bookmarks. I also made fuzzy rings once with ring bases and glued on colourful mini pom-poms. Sold those for $1 each.

I made the nugget tins with a rosette band around it. Told them they could fit a gift card in there too. It hold 9 nuggets I think. I sold mine for $5 and they sold, but I didn't make a lot.

I'm going to make some of the Hershey trees for my next sales. I think they are so cute and different.

My first sale is tomorrow. I set up today. Hopefully it will go well. Its a small sale but has been well attended.

I panicked last night when I was packing things up. I couldn't find my gift card holders I made or mini Hersheys for Halloween (Dracula, monster, Frankenstein). Finally found the container under my craft table. I will be doing a lot of cleaning on Sunday!!

I am making them, have 20 done so far and will make 16 more. I sold out of Hershey snowmen last year at $4 so I was thinking $4 for the trees as well. If they don't appear to sell very well I'll mark them down to $3.00 but no less.

I replaced the glass with galvanized flashing, decoupaged patterned paper over that, and used coordinating paper to make 3-4 glass magnets per board. I used mostly 12x5 WalMart frames that I had collected several years ago, and a couple of larger frames that I had saved after the glass broke. I need to make more for this year's fairs, I still have more of those WalMart frames (they seem to breed like rabbits in my craft closet) and maybe enough flashing to fill half a dozen frames.

I have tried to make these pebble magnets a few times in the past two weeks. The image smears or I get bubbles under the glass. I did a make and take at a show and it turned out perfectly. Any thoughts on what I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks
