Last weekend I made some glitter clothespins and glitter glass pieces that will all become magnets once my magnets arrive this weekend. I had bought some clothespins but never got anything made last year. I had some of the leftover clear glass pebble things (well they have the irredescent coating on there so that is why I used them for this project) that I wanted to use up. They turned out pretty cool!

I took inventory of what I had left after the last craft fair and am pretty happy with what i have left....many of the items I will just have to order new calendars for and stick on them and they will be ready to go!

I am trying hard this year to start early and make some items I have been wanting to make...things I bought to alter that I have done nothing with. Trying to come up with some "new" things too...at least new to me and my booth.

Diane, would you care to share the lip balm purse tutorial? I made some last year and while they were cute and sold pretty well, I like your design MUCH better!

I am going blind from searching ...I know we discussed the best place to buy cello bags and in particular the 1x8. I recall Clear Bags was one of the ones mentioned, however since I last ordered from them it was posted here that their shipping was high. I am currently in Arizona and wondered if you could point me in the right direction. I usually order when we stay here due to shipping in Canada, even tho they do have a warehouse there. I thank you and my eyes thank you as well.

Stampin Up sells 1x8 cello bags. Shipping may not be cheaper if you only want a few packages of bags, but if you throw in some kraft boxes, baker's twine, watercolor note cards, their new tag topper punches...not that I have ever bumped up an SU order just to "save" on shipping.

I have not gone on Ebay or Amazon, as the names suggested were all American suppliers here in the U. S. Perhaps the ladies that do the craft sales and use these bags that posted, are not here now as there was a lot of discussion on cello bags for various projects here at Christmas time.

I think Clear Bags, Nashville Wraps and one other company was mentioned but I cant remember which one had the best source. I think it was another paper company wish I could remember the name. Perhaps someone will pop in over the week with the answer. Thanks to all who are trying to help with your suggestions.

Hi Diane...I do not have pics taken yet....was waiting til I get things completed but when my magnets arrive, I will get pics taken.

Clear Envelopes

This is owned by Clear Bags but has no minimum orders. They use flat rate shipping.

Sometimes you can find some decent deals on Etsy for supplies.

Diane, I know you had mentioned in previous posts about making the magnets. I got burnt out on them for a while but want to start making them again. In the past I have just used those clear gemstones from the $ store but would like to make better quality ones. I know you had said in the past that you bought the better gems...I am assuming the ones that people use for jewelry making...more clear, round, flatter back, etc. Do you order them in bulk from anywhere? I have found some on Etsy, and you can either order a decent quantity like 150 for $45 (this includes shipping) or you can get them from a China dealer like $500 for $100ish. They are a little pricey to be charging in the $1 range, so do you charge more for them?

PS...I just saw I put $500 for $100ish when I meant 500 for $100ish.....oops! I'm sure y'all knew what I meant but thought I would clarify it was 500 gems for $100ish.

I used to get mine from Clearbags and they worked out to about 7 cents each (Canadian). Now that Stampin Up carries them, and I'm a demonstrator, I always add an package in with an order or with my hostess bennies. If you are in the States, shipping would be way cheaper than Canada so the cost may be better

I have found that orders from ClearBag in US instead of Canada is best. I also have a shipping address across the border.
Calculating shipping into the cost, they are still cheaper to buy from there than from SU or packaging supply stores.

For myself, I don't mind especially because I often add other items to the order too!

I think Clear Bags would be my best bet.....Altho I have located a Bakery Supply store near by. from looking around the interactive pictures of the store this might also be worth checking out. It looks very promising. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I have never used this company but they do sponsor one of my favorite craft channels and seem to have good prices on clear bags and I believe I read earlier in the post someone looking for flat bags for small items. HTH

I have been buying mine from G T Bags seems every since I started doing crafts. Excellent service, good shipping cost and extra fast service. Usually you get them in about 2 days. One time I got them the day after I placed the order. With one of my orders they contacted me to see if my order was correct-I had ordered a different size from what I usually ordered and they just wanted to double check before they sent them out. Can't beat them.

I think I figured out my problem! I was trying to make another Lip Balm project and it just wouldnt fit. I tried it a few times. and then I tried another tube of ip balm and it fit. I was using Avon brand. They must be just smidge bigger then other brands.

For those of you who start early in the year preparing for Christmas, when do you start working on non-perishable items? I like all the ideas for chocolate nuggets and other food items, but I know that they would melt around here in the summer and I only have a small fridge to work with. Just wondering how you store things. Thanks

I finish as much crafty packaging as I can before I actually buy any chocolate. I don't usually have to worry about things melting, but I don't like to keep too much temptation in my house.
Non-food items are stored in a closet in my craft area, which I can lock up when I'm not crafting. I have a box for things that need to be shipped to my parents, and another bin or shelf for things that go to family we'll be seeing during the holidays.

Honestly I try to start in January for the following year. This way I can make things for a few days, and when I am bored with that I can move onto something else. Also it keeps me from getting stressed about it in September/October.
For the food items, I make what I can and add the candy last minute. Last year my daughter's girl scout troop helped me assemble some of the items. They were able to get stuff filled in less then an hour, and it would have probably taken me a day or two at least.

I was a seller at a market today - seemed to be the only crafty person - lots of old junk and it never ceases to amaze me how popular that stuff is!! I made a bit over $100, which I was happy enough with. Hardly sold any Mothers Day cards or gifts, which was a pity, although I deliberately didn't have oodles of it to start with. Half my profit was made from selling cards ($2 each or 6 for $10). Anyone else got markets at this time of year?

I did an event like that a few years ago. It was at a nursing home, that in the past had amazing craft shows. They marketed it as a craft show, but I was the only crafter with all the others being flea market type sales. I believe I made $60 profit. At the time I was okay with that, as it was really the first show I did solo. But I had a lot of people trying to haggle. One guy wanted a beautifully altered notebook for $0.25! I told him that didn't even pay for the notebook!
The show I did in March was the only show, oh and one in September 2 years ago, that I did that weren't in November or December. The September one wasn't very profitable either.

Today was the first of a 2 day show and I didn't even bring in $20. I'll see what tomorrow brings but I'm told that Saturday is usually the better of the 2 days. I am learning the hard way that spring shows are really not worth the effort I put into them. After tomorrow, I'll start working on Christmas stuff and hopefully that is much more profitable.

Default 2014 Spring craft show

This was my first spring craft show and it was truly a bust. I didn't even sell enough to cover the cost of the table, let alone the supplies to make items.
