Welcome Brenda!! I have the same last name as you, so your thread caught my attention!!!
I don't usually "type" a verse inside my cards, I usually leave them blank so I can write or stamp a sentiment.
If you want something specific inside, you can print on a piece of CS (or printer paper) and layer it inside.
I have a large stock of parchment in different colors and use that to print out a sentiment, then cut it to size with pretty scissors and mount on the inside of my cards. I layer or embellish with ribbons, stamps, or stickers and always hand-sign.
I am not a demo, so am not required to use stamps for my verses. I usually save verses I have typed up and save them on CD, by catagory. there are sites available
on the internet, (I bookmark thenm into my favorites) to cut and paste or highlight and paste into word perfect and print off. You can personalize or change a verse to meet the needs of the card you are making. Here's one site: http://www.quotegarden.com/index.html
I make lots of invitations for little kids' birthday parties - so I always use my computer to print out the details. I use a word program formatted so I get two cards per one sheet of card stock. Run them through the printer, cut the card stock and I'm ready to embellish the front of the card!
I have a verse editor disk that is all ready to use, you just pick the relevant verse, then the size paper ie a5/a4 etc and print it out, I then fold the sheet in half, trim a bit of top and side edges and then stick inside my card.
In the UK it is the done thing to do for inside a card, so its something we are used to doing I suppose. I do notice that cards I have received from friends from the US don't do that, people tend to put a piece of co-ordinating cardstock or paper and then write on that????!!!!

Subscribing. My BF prefers to use computer generated verses whereas I usually just stamp or do calligraphy so I, m going to pass this info on to him. Thanks!
I am sure there are other threads on this topic.
I get a lot of verses from versalog.com
I have a large collection of such verses in a computer document. This may not be a preferred technique for some, but works well for me. I set the page for columns - depending on whether I want landscape or portrait, at the bottom of each column or on the right hand side - I select 2 verses. (I have done this so often I can pretty much eyeball the location - plus I reuse the same format. I print on one 8.5x11 piece of cardstock - usually white or vanilla, but sometimes other colors. After printing, I cut the cs in half - voila, the card base with a verse printed on the inside. Sometimes I edit a verse to fit the recipient.
Trust me, I can do this a lot more easily than I can explain.
I have also printed a verse on a smaller piece - cut it with decorative scissors, then chalk or sponge the edges before gluing to the inside. At one time I printed the verse on white sticker paper. but I prefer the other methods. PM me if I can clarify for you.
In MS Word, I have it set up (exact placement of the verse) so that I can run a piece of white cardstock (110 lb from Staples) thru the printer with the verse I want inside the card. I have it set up to get two cards out of the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. If I don't have a verse stamp that is appropriate this is what I do. I've only used the Staples white cardstock. I've never done this with any colored cardstock such as Stampin Up.
I use MS PUBLISHER, it's easiest for me. I haven't quite figured out MS WORD yet. I'm to lazy to try, when I have a way that works for me. I make two card from one 8 1/2 x11 sheet.
First make two temp. lines...one top to bottom at the 4 1/4" [this is your fold line], second temp line is at 5 1/2" left to right on paper [cut line]. You will have 4 boxes. Now, open up a text box no bigger than 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Type what you want to say in the font you want to use, etc. Place this box in either of the boxes on the right! You can rotate the text box [adj. text box to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4] if you want the card to open from the bottom, or leave it the way it is to have the card open right to left [standard opening]. Once you have placed the text boxes in either of the right top or bottom boxes, you will need to delete your temp lines you made earlier. Now you should be ready to print, then cut into 2 cards and fold...embellish...and send. I usually use bold font when printing on colored cardstock. Hope this make sense...PM me if you want a temp or need an example. This is the first time I've tried to post. Hope is works.
Sarah..thank you so much..I am computer challenged (I mean real bad) and there is no way I would ever be able to figure this out. Thanks for your gnerosity.G
The cardTemp is for 2 cards that are 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" finshed size, which you can rotate to have open either from right side or from the bottom. They fit into envelopes that I buy from W-Mart...by the envelope area. You get 60 in a box, "white invitation envelopes" is what the box says. Overall pretty cheap per envelope.
I don't sell my cards...so, as far as typing "sayings" in them before selling them, maybe someone else can answer that one. I don't see why you couldn't. I usually end up put the same saying, one in each area, then print and decorating one, and save the other one for making a quick card later. Hope this helps.

Reason: size/typo error
