Stamping light colors on dark cardstock?

Help! I saw a beautiful card using Solemn Stillness but am unable to duplicate. The cardstock was navy and the ink color was ballet blue with the second layer in gold embossing. I cannot get the ballet blue to show up on the navy cardstock. How do I do this? Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

you'd have to use a craft pad to get the ballet blue to show up on the darker cs. Then you have to wait for it to dry before you put gold over it.
