Feel stupid asking this, but can you emboss over images stamped with the S-Up "Classic" Ink Pads, as I've heard they dry super quick, so wasn't sure if it would work...
I'd like to emboss with clear powders to get shiny look over certain stamped images, but didn't want to restamp over that image with versamark and than emboss...does anyone know what I mean?
I think what you are trying to accomplish............just stamp once with versamark (or a Craft ink color) then use your clear embossing powder to get your shiny image.
You won't have to stamp once with Classic ink (as you likely know, the embossing powders won't adhere to classic inks).
Since I have all the craft inks in the spots and VersaMark, I've never tried embossing with the classic inks.
But I have heard/read that you can emboss, if you're fast. Try it on a scrap and see if you like the results.
Also demos have inked first with VersaMark and then with the classic ink and then poured the clear embossing powder on and then embossed.
If you try these methods and you don't like the results, then you'll have to buy the craft inks.
Try tapping your stamp onto the Versamark pad first, then into your classic ink pad, then onto your paper. The color might be a little subdued if your classic pad is a bit dry, but it's usually acceptable. Then add your embossing powder as usual.
THANKS ALL...Guess I'll have to use the CRAFT inks (vs.classic) or use Versamark.
The only problem with Versamark is you would have to stamp OVER the image you
stamped in Classic and "hope" that image is lined up. Am I getting it??
Would STAZON inks work? I do have a few different colors in those?
You don't have to stamp your image twice. You can put both your versamark ink and your dye ink on the stamp at the same time and stamp it once. That is the technique that Betsy mentioned. It works great and it's WAY easier. I've never even had a problem with the color being subdued, but I keep my pads juicy.
All you need to do is
1) ink your stamp up with versamark
2) ink your stamp up with the dye ink
3) stamp your image
4) add embossing powder, tap off and then heat
Okay...got it..duh??!! hahaha I was afraid if the versamark (being sticky) got onto your dye pads, it might mess them up I guess? I will definitely give this a TRY!! Thanks again for your HELP!! Greatly appreciated. (Like your name, and pic...cute!!) Cya...

It looks like your question has been answered, but I want to chip in on lining up images. If you are not using clear stamps, the stamp-a-ma-jig works to line the image up perfectly. Don't need it with clear stamps.

I do the VersaMark/Classic aka Dye ink all the time and have not noticed any damage to my dye pads. However, if you are concerned you could apply the dye ink using a brayer or sponge dauber. Be sure to huff to re-moisturize the ink before you stamp the quickly apply the embossing powder.

I heard a tutorial where the woman stamps in the color first and then in the Versamark. She keeps two Versamark pads. One for color because it gets dirty and the other that stays clean for clear embossing and watermarks. I wish I could remember who it was. Was a wonderful video tutorial
