I just got my Staz-On ink pad in black, and am afraid to use it, because I'm not sure how to clean my stamps after using the ink on them. What has worked for you.
I just use Huggies Baby Wipes....But, someone mentioned that if you use YoYo Yellow Ink Pad that takes the ink off. Of course you purchase a seperate one to use only for this purpose!
I use Huggies baby wipes as well, I've tried the yoyo yellow and wasn't overly impressed (it works great on basic black stains though) Also when I get stubborn stains I use Un-du on a q-tip to get them clean.

Would homemade baby wipes work (you mix 2 T baby Oil, 2 T baby soap & I think 1 1/2 c. water----it's been awhile since I made them----then pour it over 1/2 roll of Paper towels)? I used to make my own when my kids were babies. VERY cheap---but wonder if it works like the storebought ones.
Is huggies the only brand that works? Or just what you've tried? Thanks!
I don't know how this is going to affect the rubber over time but I use non-acetone nail polish remover to get my stamps I use Stazon on clean....It probably has the same ingrediants as Staz-on cleaner. I know if I screw-up on a 2' tile for magnets i just wipe it off using nail polish remover (unfortunately this does not work for the tumbled tiles - the image will just stay there, albeit lighter)

Hi there. Just was reading about your staz-on ink remover ideas, and thought I would share with you my idea....I use Simple Green. It works great for cleaning the ink off. I first started to use it when I would get the SU! basic black ink on my stamps, and it worked real well, so then I tried it with the staz-on, and it worked well once again. I really don't think it can harm your stamps, because it is safe to use for a lot of other household chores. If in doubt about being safe on the rubber, just wash them good afterwards. I buy mine in the huge jugs, and it seems to last a long time, and seems to be cheaper if you buy a larger bottle.(Like, from Sam's or Costco) I hope this helps. Happy Stamping! MarLynn
I pour a little mineral spirits (like what you get in the paint section of HD or L) onto a piece of terry cloth, then scrub stamps over it. Works well for me.
I use Staz-on cleaner for my stazon as well as other dye inks...works really well and there is no need to hurry. I've used it to take off old dried inks too.
I bought a bunch of stamps in a lot from ebay, about 30 stamps for $10...great images but yuck they were not taken care of very well, tons of ink so I put some stazon cleaner in a clean styrofoam meat tray.. enough to just emerse the rubber, and soaked them for a little while before scrubbing with a toothbrush..they look wonderful now
Okay Ladies, I'm here to slap your hands and come to your houses and take your baby wipes and chemical cleaners. YOYO YELLOW and a little Dawn and your stamps will be clean and healthy.
Baby wipes ~ contain bad things for stamps.
Orange Glo ~ please tell me you didn't even say that.
Attached please find two photos of stamps I've cleaned with only YOYO Yellow and a little Dawn. No chemical issues, no fear of alcohol. Save your stamps, order a yoyo yellow pad and your stamps will be happy for life.
Beware, oil breaks down rubber. Baby oil, mineral oil, it's all bad for your stamps. Great for your skin, use it there, but your rubber will break down in time when exposed to oil.
I finally got the nerve to use my Stazon for tiles and acetate last night. I was so excited with how my projects turned out, but I couldn't remember what to use for cleaning my stamps.
I ended up using the baby wipes. They were a little on the dry side, they seemed to work okay, not great. Then I put a little baby oil on an old towel. That seemed to work better. It still didn't get every bit of ink off. I'm a little weird about getting all the ink off. God forbid I get ink on the block itself!
Now, after reading the note about the wipes and baby oil, I'm going to have to rethink the cleaning situation. Thanks for all the suggestions! You ladies are a great source of information!
I broke down and bought the Stazon cleaner. WOW! That stuff works great! I put a little on the stamp directly, then wipe it off on a damp towel, then use the scrub pad to completely clean it. Works like a charm. I've just been making coaster like crazy for a little show we are having at work next week. Boy has this been fun!
