Default I need different ideas for folding my cards!

I am fairly new to SU and am looking for different ways to fold my paper when making a card. The only one I do is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. That only gets me two ways to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Default Card shapes

Hi there! I have two that are a little different from the norm. The birthday one is from a template. I was just playing around with the Fluffles and have always liked the triangle shape, so made this card.

Hope these give you some inspiration.

Cheers!

This is an old standby I use from time to time. I don't have exact measurements for you, but hopefully you can noodle it out from the pics (different samples of the same fold with a front opening):

I think this is called a gate card, and it was asketch challenge--take a 1/2 sheet of cardstock (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and score 2 1/8" in from each end.

Thumbs up

Can you point me to where you found the birthday template? It is perfect for a project I am working on for some teachers.

Thanks so much!

Hi there. I bought about 5 different templates on eBay. One was this link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220010541362

Or you can do a search for Wordsworth Z018 Envelope & Wild Card Template

or just "Wordsworth card templates" on Google search. That should work too.

Good luck!

Hey,

Check out the Addicted to Rubber Stamps website. Search for Wildcards. They have lots of templates and they are on sale right now!!

You might want to do a Google search for Wildcards to see what each template looks like. ATRS does not have an example of each template.

I bought a few of these, one for a tri fold card and one for the wheel card too.

The 13 quick cards shown in the gallery are some neat ways to re-vamp your folds. Don't neglect the popular square cards. Use a 4.25" x 8.5" piece for a card that fits in your traditional size envelope that uses standard mail rates.
Cut your card stock in half lengthwise, and fold for a tall tent style and put that fold on the side for yet another style of a wide opening card.
Hope this helps.

There were 2 recent SCS tutorials on tri-fold cards!

I did the triangle tri-fold -- really fun & easy.

did you ever try a z card? I can explain it..easy as pie. Card base is a 4 1/4 x 11 piece cardstock scored at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4" to make the "Z" then you cut out another piece of cardstock and place it on the folded area. You do have to hold the cardstock horizonally. ;) You can google z fold card to get a picture of this. Cyndi

Try a gate-fold card. Just fold both sides in to meet in the middle.

Also a cute style is the "tent fold." You make the main base 4-1/4 x 4-1/4, and then add an extra top piece to make the total length of the card 5-1/2. Here is an example to look at. You can make the top piece any shape you want, square, oval or circle.
