I am fairly new to SU and am looking for different ways to fold my paper when making a card. The only one I do is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. That only gets me two ways to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi there! I have two that are a little different from the norm. The birthday one is from a template. I was just playing around with the Fluffles and have always liked the triangle shape, so made this card.
This is an old standby I use from time to time. I don't have exact measurements for you, but hopefully you can noodle it out from the pics (different samples of the same fold with a front opening):

I think this is called a gate card, and it was asketch challenge--take a 1/2 sheet of cardstock (8 1/2 x 5 1/2) and score 2 1/8" in from each end.

Can you point me to where you found the birthday template? It is perfect for a project I am working on for some teachers.
Thanks so much!

The 13 quick cards shown in the gallery are some neat ways to re-vamp your folds. Don't neglect the popular square cards. Use a 4.25" x 8.5" piece for a card that fits in your traditional size envelope that uses standard mail rates.
Cut your card stock in half lengthwise, and fold for a tall tent style and put that fold on the side for yet another style of a wide opening card.
Hope this helps.

did you ever try a z card? I can explain it..easy as pie. Card base is a 4 1/4 x 11 piece cardstock scored at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4" to make the "Z" then you cut out another piece of cardstock and place it on the folded area. You do have to hold the cardstock horizonally. ;) You can google z fold card to get a picture of this. Cyndi
Try a gate-fold card. Just fold both sides in to meet in the middle.
Also a cute style is the "tent fold." You make the main base 4-1/4 x 4-1/4, and then add an extra top piece to make the total length of the card 5-1/2. Here is an example to look at. You can make the top piece any shape you want, square, oval or circle.
