Over Land, Over Sea...Heck, Just Get Over That Swale
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! The Rest of the Story:
1: Aww Spring...So glad it has finally arrived. The sounds of birds chirping in the morning and the fireflies flitting around in the evening. Such a wonderful time of year when everything is new and fresh. And baby birds are hatching on a daily basis. Mama birds (and some daddys too I hear) out searching for bugs and such to feed the greedy little things until they can find their own bugs.
2: Then comes that wonderful time all parents look forward too after the terrible twos and the awful teens; time for all younguns to leave the nest!! But first they must learn to fly, and that can take many lessons, demonstrations, and frustrated do-overs. Luckily for the younguns, their parents are of the patient type.
3: This is a really good thing in the case of Milly and Willy the twin barn owls. They are really having difficulties with this flying thing. Milly doesn't understand why she can't just sit on her branch hooting and have someone else bring her everything she needs, she is quite the pampered little one as you can see. Then there is Willy who is so determined to get out of dodge so to speak that he races through his lessons and seems to forget some steps such as slowing down before descent, and lowering the landing gear ahead of time. Needless to say, there have been some crashes resulting in broken wing feathers and even a chipped beak.
4: This is all getting very frustrating for their parent owls as they are ready to have the nest to themselves again and get on with parent owl activities. But carry on they must and time after time, they demonstrate to Willy and reluctant Milly how to fly and nurse their bruised feathers when things don't go as well as hoped for. But spring is turning into summer now and they really need these two to be able to hunt for their own food as they aren't satisfied with a few little bugs anymore, bigger fare is needed and one must go farther out from the nest to find it. They have got to start caring for themselves and soon.
5: So papa owl has decided that an ultimatum is in order and their final day in the nest is this coming week-end. After that they are on their own and will be responsible for themselves. RUT ROH!!! You can imagine this is causing some ruckus in the owl nest. But papa owl is standing firm. So the kid owls had better learn to fly and soon.
Challenge Translation:
Bird flight instructors would be very welcome here. Humor and cheerful cards to brighten his spirits are what we need.
