Welcome to Teapot Tuesday
the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty
and Challenge #397
A Stitch in Time.....
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
The Rest of the Story:
1: All forms of sport and creativity have to have their "pinnacle" of success. For acting, it's the Oscars, for athletes, it's the olympics, but for quilters, it's having your quilt show and place at one of the biggest quilt shows on earth. That would be the International Quilt Festival held in Houston Tx every yr. Many an amateur quilter dreams of the masterpiece she could create to get invited to show there.
2: Then there are those of us who just want to go for the vendor shopping and the ooohing and ahhhhing of the beautiful works. TeeHee!! But Bessie was one of those very talented quilters who could paper her very large sewing studio with the ribbons and awards she has won with her quilts. So she is certain to catch the eye of the judging committee with one of her creations.
3: Sure enough the day has arrived and Bessie has indeed been invited to enter her latest creation, "Winds over the Water" a beautiful creation indeed all done in shades of blues. It is a testiment to her true dedication of her art that she even hand dyed some of the fabrics when she couldn't find the right shade. WHOOOEEEE!!!! Now that's a lot of work. And the free form machine quilting is beyond compare. The swirls, and swaths, and bubbles all make the waves around the lighthouse come alive and look like they will come crashing onto the showroom floor any second.
4: The big day is getting closer and Bessie's mind is full of all the details that must accompany such a valued piece of work through the mail system and land half-way across the continent. Labels must be made. Hangers must be done to exact specifications. All fabric makers must be listed. All thread companies must get credit. And then there are all the pictures that must be taken for the insurance company. Oh my....what a daunting task. And just when she thinks she has it all under control; she notices a loose thread. OH NO!!! This cannot be, this is a disaster. What if I pull it and have to requilt a whole area? What if I pull it and the quilt puckers? How did this happen? RUT ROH!!! Teapotters, we better do something about that loose thread before Bessie loses her last nerve.
Challenge Translation:
Threads, pins, needles, patches, we need something to keep this thing from completely unraveling. No seam rippers or it's the back door for you.

I was lucky to be able to use one card for both challenges today.
MMTPT397 this goes to Cheryl, to uplift her spirits from being so sick.
CC572 - I tried to use all the colors it spoke for today
Both are lots of fun!!

Oh my, I am overwhelmed with the love and the beautiful cards I took a quick look at the gallery! Thank you all so very much for your love and encouragement. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have a tea party for me, and I truly thank God for the wonderful and loving SCS community. Thank you, dear Anne, for your suggesting me, and that you, Sheri, for the wonderful way you've spun the most delightful tale about quilting. I've actually been to the International Quilt Festival in Houston twice, and it is truly an experience I shall never forget. And I used to quilt and still have all my sewing machines and some fabric left in my stash, but cards have really captured my heart. And YOU ALL have touched my heart so deeply! I will comment on your cards tomorrow, but many thanks and lots of love to you all! You are a special group, and I just may have to do this challenge one day. It's quite a group, and thanks for the tea party!! Love and hugs! xoxo
This quilt was fun to put together and I had enough stuff leftover to do something else. So this card is for Cheryl and the teapot challenge because we can always use something from our scrap pile to fix anything that goes wrong.
I have my card done - then reread the story and realized I totally missed the part about a quilt in shades of blue. Oh well, here is to some variety. I just had to get here this week to show some love for Cheryl.
As my brain was not functioning too well, I was late getting to the tea party, and mailed a card from my stash for Cheryl, and did not take a picture first! Prayers for her while she is feeling under the weather and hoping that she is feeling better soon~!

Well, dear friends, I can't begin to tell you how much I have loved going through the Teapotter gallery to encourage me! What amazing cards and such precious love and encouragement expressed! I have been receiving cards and have been so very touched by each one, and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart! I love you all and love this amazing SCS community! Hugs and many thanks! xoxo
Oh, poor quilter! I have included a binder clip, safety pin, and wooden clothespin as fasteners- I am in the middle of long arm quilting a sea themed quilt- and loose threads are the enemy!
For my card, I used Sizzix's Vintage Buttons set- and did some coloring of my embossed images0 along with some sewing. Here's Buttons and Threads

Precious Jan, I received your card, and it is far more beautiful IRL! I love it and commented on it. But most importantly, thank you for your prayers and the wonderful note you wrote inside! Hugs and many thanks! God is so good and has blessed me with the best week in a very long time. Walt and I pray that we've turned a corner some. And we continue to pray for his knee. While he's cancelled the knee replacement surgery, we'll see. He's been struggling some and is trying to postpone as long as possible. Hugs to all my dear friends, and many thanks for the most beautiful cards and notes! Some (like Jan's) weren't in the official MMTPT challenge list, but I've loved the many I've received. Words can't express the love I've felt from so many SCSers. I love this caring community! Hugs, all! xoxo
I am a month late, but I did join in this challenge and Cheryl has already received the card. I really like this idea of challenge where you send the cards out, it is fun to make a card especially for someone. I do not do that often.
