Baker's Dozen Spotlight: Kerri Michaud
Taylored Expressions just wouldn't be able to do without our fabulous and talented design team, the Baker's Dozen. Many of you have seen our designers' wonderful and creative work during our monthly product releases and we would love for you to get to know them better. Each month, we'll introduce you to one of our lovely team members who will share some of their favorite projects, lend some helpful tips, or just plain get their crafty groove on here in the Forum! So, stop by, say 'hi,' and get acquainted with one of the best design teams around.
Kerri Michaud (SCS ID: girlydecou)
I live in the Orlando, Florida area, but I grew up in Wyoming. Since graduating college, I have lived in Colorado, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and now Florida for the past 8 years, and hopefully for much longer because we are building a new house! A couple of fun facts about me are that I hate seafood, and I love to go to Zumba! Thereís nothing like getting a great workout while feeling like youíre out at a club getting your groove on! Most of the time when I am not in my craft space I am busy running the kids around to their various activities. When I do get some time to myself, I love to get caught up on my shows. I am a reality t.v. junkie, and I am so excited for the Bachelorette and So You Think You Can Dance!
When it comes to my creative style, Iím really not sure. I guess I would say clean with layers. (Editor's note: Kerri is being shy. Her amazingly precise work is picture perfect. She has a wonderful sense of design that adds visual dimension without being cluttered!)
Whenever I create, I always start with my image, then I choose paper for my color scheme. Once I get the image stamped, colored, cut out, etc. then I choose a sketch to help me put the rest of my card together. I usually make cards, but I also adore making tags and gift boxes.
We asked Kerri to tell us about her favorite TE tools and products:
Taylor always has the cool, current paper pads that are must haves. The My Mindís Eye pads are my favorites. I also love all the amazing dies~ The Banner Stacklets 1 Dies are definitely go to dies for me. Copics are another must have. I just love to color!
And we are so glad that she loves to color! Thanks so much, Kerri, for sharing a bit about your creative process and about your life with us. To see more of Kerri's stunning work, visit her blog, Cards By Kerri
