I no longer put up a big tree. I now put up a tabletop tree, but haven't put it up yet. Space is so limited that I am still trying to find a place for it.
Because my son's birthday is Nov 18 we never put the tree up until Dec 1. we don't want to over shadow his birthday. But that means this week-end is the big day...yeah!
This is going to make me sound like a "Scrooge" but we don't decorate at all for Christmas. Since it's just DH and myself....and our kids/grandkids live 250 miles away and won't come in for Christmas - we just stopped decorating for Christmas. Part of it is because of space constraints.....a tree just takes up way too much room and we live in a 2 BR apt...plus our 2 furry children (aka the cats) always try to climb it. So a couple years ago we stopped putting the tree up. We do have a snowman star light that stays out year round...LOL!!!
I usually have my tree up by now, but last year my baby girl was born in early December and now we're preparing for her first birthday! I've decided we'll make a new tradition of waiting to put up our tree until after her birthday.
