I am a 17 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I had a Mastectomy and chemothery. I was lucky. I had very few side effects from the Chemo. Been cancer free since.
Are you a cancer patient or just know someone who is?

i am cancer patient. I have stage 3 cancer, triple negative IDC. i started chemo and will have a mas afterwards. I am lucky to be alive, I am lucky I found my tumor. I was diagnosed Nov 7th, 2011. Chemo is awful, makes me really ill. Somehow I will get through! I feel now as I need to spread the word and tell everyone to get a mammogram and never put it off.

To be honest, it has been so many years that I have forgotten what all the medications were. At the time, I said I would never forget, but you do. I never got really sick. I always had a real bad day about the third day after treatment, then the rest of the time, I had a slight nausea that made me want to eat something all the time. I craved sweets. I gained weight when I was on chemo. I did not loose my hair, but it did get thinner. I have thick hair, so others couldn't really tell. My diagnosis was stage one. I had very early ductal cancer. It was caught with a mammogram. I always tell everyone to never miss their mammograms. One saved my life.
As, I said I was lucky. Had a cousin, who had same treatment as me and was very very sick.
Breast cancer does run in my family. Mother had it twice. Had several Aunts and cousins who had it. Amazingly, none died of Breast Cancer. My Mother lived to be almost ninety and died of pneumonia.
How many treatments are you scheduled for?
Vicki

Do you go weekly for 12 weeks?
I had treatment for 6 months, once every 3 weeks.
I am thinking about you. Try to stay upbeat, but I know that is really hard to do.
You didn't say your age. Maybe you don't want to say. I was 51.
