Smile Message Board and SCS Newbie

Hello from Leesburg, VA. I randomly found this site and loved the amount of samples I could view with such a quick download time so I thought I'd create a username and see if I could pick up on this message boarding stuff and maybe share some of my stuff to. Now if I could just figure out how to put my stuff up on here... guess I should go piddle around some more. Hello to all you stampers out there! We are a wonder breed!

Hello Ladies!
I am new to SCS membership - easily convinced by my best friend to join. I have been checking out SCS for a while, but always avoided joining (for reasons I do not know). Now that I have joined I am thrilled to see a Demos only forum. What a great resource!
Looking forward to meeting everyone on the site and getting to share the joys and hardships (gasp!) of Stamping!

Beadfreak, I'm a psychologist, and love my job too, but like you, I sometimes wish I could stamp all the time. I just signed up to be a Demo, and am so excited that I cannot wait to get home from work... ! Stamping-Therapy.

Living Juicy,
We are in a profession with an amazingly high potential for burnout. Stamping keeps me sane!! Even though I love my job, I race home to get back to my cozy stamping refuge. Have you ever incorporated your stamping into your job? I worked with some teens and helped them make an "Anxiety Box" with stamps and embellishments.

I am new to SCS, a friend of mine turned me on to this. So I am just checking this out. How come some people are so nice and some people are so rude and mean. I thought this was a site for fun and relaxation?

Wow, Scrappininillinois, sorry your experience here has not been great. In the few months I've been on, I've never heard anything mean or rude or inappropriate. Most of us are kind and supportive and encouraging. If you want to chat with some really awesome people, check out the RAK (random acts of kindness) forum. Please don't give up on us!

I've been viewing this site for several months and can't recall any of this behavior. Craft people are generally nice people. Maybe some have gotten too comfortable and forget everyone can read what they write. I think you will find the good on this site out weighs the bad. You need to just overlook some people. Maybe you could say a prayer for them. Sounds like they just might need one.

I don't know what's taken me so long... I joined SCS a ways back but this is my first time posting. Hi girls! Hope you have room for one more! I am such a big fan of so many of you.... I CASE your cards on a regular basis.

I don't see as to how talking about these subjects makes these girls rude and mean??? I've seen the nicest people since I've been here, always and encouraging word for someone when they need it. If they were talking amongst themselves about life in general where's the harm? Life happens, people swear occasionally, and girls (even me!) go out once in a while for some fun. As for the popcorn... sometimes if you can get a kid to eat even that you're lucky! I belong to other forums and this one is without a doubt the nicestt. I do hope you'll stick around and get to know some of them... I intend to!

Well, I haven't encountered any of the stuff that Scrappin In Illinois refers to, but even if so, what's the biggy? I make my choices on how to live as others make theirs. What goes on in a private conversation is just that. Anyhow, like Stamp Happy Susie said, we all deserve a little time to blow off steam, go out and be girls and have a good time. If it was too big of a concern, the moderators would express it. I could break out a sermon from my pastor and start reiterating some of his points on enjoying life and loving others, but I couldn't do it justice.

And the last time I checked, my kids have had a night here or there where they had popcorn for dinner while they watched a movie or enjoyed playing with eachother. I don't remember the social services agency knocking on my door. Relax! No worries!

Hi from Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have heard of this site from several people, but finally took the time to join. I am currently a Scrapbooker, but starting to wander into the stamping medium, and I like it alot, tho I'm not very good at it. I'm stubborn, so I'll keep on trying.

Thanks for introducing yourself, and WELCOME! I discovered this site about six months ago, and I've been hooked ever since! I think you'll find the nicest people in the world are right here on SCS. Be careful, though, it is VERY addictive!

Enjoy!
Katherine

P.S. What the heck is a crop-a-dile?

Smile love SCS!!

I am new as a member but not new as a viewer. I love all the ideas and visit often to rejuvenate my brain! The resources page is my favorite and have tried many of the techniques and card designs. I recently got married and made all my own invitations. it was a western wedding so I utilized my Bareback and Cowboy Kid sets. I would like to learn how to post my work so I can share with fellow stampers!
Thank you so much for this fabulous. easy accessible, site for awesome ideas!!

Default Hello!

Hi everyone. I've been a SU Dem for four or five years. I was stamping for a year before. My daughter is about to turn 16 and can't wait to be her own dem. I'm tired of doing it "part-time". I've started handing out cards (made) and business cards to everyone we run into, stores, restaurants, doctor's offices, business offices. I want to swing it into high gear. I usually run a pretty full class, my problem is I have no downline . If anyone has advice, I'm listening. I've visited SCS several times and thought I was signed up, but wasn't My cousin is on here all the time and the ideas here are excellent. Hope to make new friends and get to play more with my stamps!

Question New to SCS and SU

Hello everyone, my name is Amber - I am new to scs and a new su demonstrator. I have been scrapbooking for many years, but have just recently been introduced to the stamping by my awesome upline.

I was wondering - is it possible to have a gallery for us newbies to show our work - so we don't feel totally intimidated and out of our league. I love creating projects and I think I have done something awesome and then I look on the site and am like - well mine kinda sucks .

Also, I would appreciate any advice etc any fellow demonstrator have about building there business, what works or doesn't work and how I can become a better stamper.

That's it

Amber

PS - of course this is an awesome site, everybody is talented and beautiful. I'm grateful and honoured to be part of such a creative and talented community.

Hi, Amber, and welcome!

I'm new here and also hoping that understanding comes with time and exposure!

From what I see you can have your own gallery beginning on the home page. Hey, and don't beat yourself up; your creations are your creations and valuable for that reason alone, if nothing else.

Have fun doing what you love... that's the way my business is growing.

Express yourself,
Carol.

Hi I have been in a stampin up! club for 3 years and now I am a demo...but on a limited budget (sometimes0 it is hard to get all those cool ribbons and brads and stuff..I did invest in the hodge podge and you def get your $ worth another idea is to cut thin strips of paper to use in place of ribbon also roughing up the edges gives demension to your card or page and also adds intrest... fold back one corner and use a staple...office supplies are great too. Hope this helps I have only had 3 workshops but they are great and fun don't be nrevous...here is my email if you want it..lorimae1@gmail.com

I'm new here, just joined less than a month ago. I've been a fan of SU for almost a decade now. A friend stopped being a demo and gave me a bunch of her supplies.

I live in Croatia where supplies are limited. I usually order them in the US, then wait for someone to come or for us to go back to get them. So, you will find that my cards use very limited supplies (like ribbons and other embellishments). I have learned some "cheating" techniques to save supplies. Is there a challenge that feature ways to do this. I know there's the limited supply challenge, but that's more about hard to use stamps, rather than other things, right?

And I print out a lot of my sentiments since I don't have any sayings in Croatian for my Croatian friends. I have shared this hobby with a handful of ladies here and they love it. Cards in the store are not so pretty here, and it's a novelty to be able to make your own.

Oh, yeah, I make about 250-300 cards a year. My husband and I are missionaries, so we do a lot of correspondence. I make an effort to send each supporter/friend/prayer partner two handmade cards a year. We have 3 girls (aged 7, 5 and 1) and the two older ones already share my love of cardmaking. It's something we do together when we're snowed in. And it's a stress reliever for me in some ways .

I just thought I'd introduce myself. I've enjoyed looking through people's creations. You are a group of talented ladies. And I'm excited to be a part of this site.
