NIB = New in box??? I'm guessing, here.

RAK = Random act of kindness = (here's a quote...)

There is a RAK User Group. You can get to it from the Home Page, I think. If you want more information on that, let me know.

I believe TFS is Thanks For Sharing.

What about DTP Technique. Which technique is that?

Question How Do you do it?

Bumping: I've seen this done several times, is it something the moderators do? Very interesting reading on this topic!

The other ones that always confused me were the acronyms for the different technique challenges. Still trying to learn all of those. You have to look at the listing to figure those out. Like CCC I think means Color Combo Challenge.

OH! And I see references to DDD for Dirty Dozen, but why is there THREE D's and not just DD?????

excellent Q's!

BUMP = means the person who typed that is "bumping" the thread or topic (which is say, 2 or more pages back) up to the top of the forum so that more people see it.

DTP = direct to paper....meaning, using your stamp pad or stamp spot directly on the paper. Here's a link to a thread.
Here's another link; this one's from Hero Arts' website.

Here's another:
VSN = Virtual Stamp Night...there's a forum just for VSN in the "Splitcoast Challenges" forum

Default swaps

It just means they want you to include your screen name and the name of the swap you are participating in, with the stuff you send the hostess. If you mail your stuff, the hostess may not recognize your "real" name, and she may be hosting several different swaps. HTH!

Default NVR = No Vendor Restrictions

I came across this somewhere, so I happen to know it.

NVR = No Vendor Restrictions. It means that you are not restricted to using just one particular vendor, such as SU!. So in your case, you may use ANY embellishments.

Default New to SCS

Aloha Everyone,

I am new to SCS and also a new demonstrator for SU! I have been experimenting with some new techniques and I am stumped on how to etch on glass. I would like to make vases for centerpieces for a welcome tea and I tried and failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jane in Hawaii

Cool

Aloha, Jane!

I haven't tried the etched glass technique yet, but there are several helpful pointers in different 'threads' on here. If you do a search for "etched glass" you will find many results. Just in case you're not sure how to do a Search, here's a visual aid.

For example, here's someone's etched cookie jar WITH instructions on two methods.

PS Since you're a new SU! Demo, be sure to sign up for access to the Demos only forum on here. Click here for directions.

It usaully means "Bumpin To the Top," in other words, keeping the threa (or message) at the top of the page, rather than buried several pages deep.

Red face Thank You!

Very informative. I don't think I have time to memorize all of them, but I too wondered what adjective the ladies were putting in front of the word husband. Mine is darling, so I like that one. I was beginning to think no one here was happily married until I read this. Thank you! It makes me happier.

Default Thread is

'Thread' is just another word for topic. This thread is about acronyms, another thread on the 'Start Here' forum may be someone introducing themself etc etc.

You will see lots of forums including Swaps, Techniques and Templates and Announcements to name but a few. If you want to find a swap, just exit this thread and scroll down a little and you will find SWAPS. Place your cursor there and press and see what comes up!! It's a good forum to go to!!

If anyone is really interested in loads of acronyms, look on the left side of the home page and you'll find a little paragragh which will take you to all the explanations of the 'strange' world of acronyms!

HTH (Hope this helps!).

OSW= One Sheet Wonder

FYI.... There are TWO places to find information on OSW
#1: The Gallery!
  • Click on gallery at the top of the page.
  • Click on Special Collections.
  • Click on One Sheet Wonders.
  • Ta-da! <---that's what you'll find
You can then do a search for "template", for example.

#2: Right here in the Forum.

I'm not sure if you know how to do a search, so here's a visual aid! You'll find the Search function towards the top of this page.

So, if you enter "one sheet wonder" you will come up with many results in the forums.
