On here you press the alt key and then the number 3, then release them. ♥♥

Hey thanks! I've been trying to remember the combo to put the degree symbol in for a long time now and couldn't! MaeBStampin told me how to do the heart.

So now I'm going to try both here.
Heart--- did not work. It took me back 3 posts instead.

degree--- also just caused me to go back several posts on the list.

Ideas?

♥ You have to hold the alt key down and press the 3 then let up on both. With the degree symbol, hold the alt key down and then press 0176. When you let up on the 6 it should be there. Oh, you have to use the numbers on the number keypad....it doesn't seem to work with the numbers on the keyboard.

What if you have a laptop?
When I tried the Alt & 3, it made the forum look really funky. I wasn't even going to try the degree symbol!

Also, would the degree symbol work in word documents? Or just online?

<3 Heart

I just tried the degree and it didn't do anything. I thought maybe CTRL would work instead of ALT, but when you hit CTRL 01, it takes you to another window. I have my email opened, and it took me there. Similar to traveling to different screens via keyboarding instead of using the mouse.

Hahaha, clearly the heart didn't work. It must be my piece of garbage computer!!!

Thanks for your help everyone!

The degree symbol does work in Word too. I just did it to check.

Are you holding down the alt key? you hold that down the whole time and press the other keys using your number keypad.

In Word, if you click on Insert, Symbol it will bring up a drop down box. There are tonnes and tonnes of symbols depending on how many fonts you have loaded on your computer. In mine, if I choose "Normal Text" as the font, you will see the degree symbol pictured. Click once on it and in the lower right corner you will see the shortcut. At this point, you can choose 'insert' but if you're just in your Word doc, you could then use the shortcut listed. Note, you can also change these shortcuts to customize them for yourself as long as that shortcut hasn't already been used. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to pm me if you have any more ?? I'm using an older version of Word so your menus could be slightly different but once you find the symbol part, it should work

Yes, I have done it that way in Woor 2003. Beware, if you have 2007 or 2010 the tools are quite different and will take getting used to again.

Now, what does BRAK stand for in your signature Charlene?

Does your laptop have a number keypad or are you using the number keys on top of the keyboard? I have to use the number keypad to the right of the keyboard in order for it to work. We'll get you working yet! I am also wondering why yours shows up as <3. That < button is above the alt button...

Perhaps try the Alt key on the other side of keyboard so you don't hit the < by mistake.

It's alt and 3 at the same time, I think. ♥ You need to use the side number keypad instead of the numbers on top.

There is a way to do this. pm me if you want as I didn't want to hijack this thread with Word instructions.

Yes, I will do this soon ... only to include the papercrafting-related items that are routinely used here.

Sorry, but I see that the link I tried to post here did not work. Is it that we can't post links here to another web site? Just Google for PJ abbreviations. There are tons.
