Hi
My name is Peggy. I am interested in making cards for Christmas and family birthdays. I do not have a clue where to start.

Hi Peggy!

Welcome to Splitcoast! We have lots of birthday and Christmas ideas in both our occasions and theme galleries, which are on this page: Occasions & Themes Gallery: Handmade Greeting Cards for All Occasions & Themes - Splitcoaststampers

We also have tons of fun tutorials in our resources section here: Splitcoaststampers - Resources

Our weekly newsletter has a free tutorial every week, and we also have a holiday blitz in the fall with a new tutorial every day. Sign up for the newsletter on the left side of this screen.

We have daily challenges on the site - check the home page for a list. This is a good way to try new things and get ideas for your projects.

Please let me know if I can help you with anything.

Hi Peggy and welcome from New Zealand! Starting off can be a bit daunting as there are so many choices. As well as exploring the forum you could get card-making books from the library and get an idea of what style and colours appeal to you.

Hi Peggy, welcome!

Do you have a local store that sells papercrafting stuff? They sometimes have demonstrations and classes and you might find it useful to go along to one of those so you get the feel for what kind of equipment you might want as a basic tool kit to get you started. Or maybe see if there's a demo for one of the direct sales companies (Stampin Up! or Amuse, for example) nearby and whether they're running any workshops. If it's all completely new to you then the array of choices can be a bit bewildering and having a bit of hands on opportunity can help you figure out what you might need.

There have been threads here in the past about what people would include in their basic toolkit - let us know if that sort of thing would be helpful and I'll see if I can track one down for you.

HTH!

Hi Peggy check out the galleries. Do a search and you'll find all kinds of inspiration. I know I did. and good for you starting early on them. My good intentions usually end up as last minute missions to get them done a couple days from Christmas. LOL goodluck!
