I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com and made it once a couple of weeks again and it was soooo good. Going to make it again tonight. I did double the gravy part just because I was serving with egg noodles as a side. I am also going to make Red River Cereal bread in my bread machine (got it for Christmas and am loving it)!
Laura, I made a meal in honor of ya'll southern gals! Fried chicken, mashed potatos, corn, beans and GRAVY. Hawaiin sweet rolls from the store. Yum! Better than Outback...I gotta say.
Tonight, monday....Chicken Picatta {from a Macaroni Grill box}
Yum!!! Fried chicken! We are eating from the fridge tonight. I made king ranch chicken Saturday night and we have leftovers from last night. I can't seem to get it in my head that I am cooking only for two now!

Laura I made those pork chops tonight and they were fantastic! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I can't imagine the day when I will cook for only two! I cook for 6 ( and 3 of those are never full boys)....It seems like all I do is cook and bake and laundry..LOL. You should check out some recipe books for "cooking for two"..I bet you could find some very simple things...
We are having a Snow Storm like Crazy!!! I made Spaghetti Sauce earier and thought I better get the noodles cooked in case we end up with no electricity!!! Holy Cow, it's blowing sideways out there!!! My DH and DS are going to be freezing when they come in, too many committments, EeeweeeE!!

I'm so glad you liked them! Thanks for the cookbook idea...I also saw on Allrecipes.com where you can scale the number of serving and it will adjust the recipe. Gotta love that! It's kinda cold here today.....maybe red beans and rice with sausage? It's a mix....not much trouble to fix!

Thank goodness no snow in Texas....I do miss it at Christmas time though. Spaghetti sounds good. Do you cook the noodles, mixed with the sauce and then reheat when needed?

Jim and I are heading to the coney island...after I work out. Make perfect sense right?? I am craving a greek salad. Last night we ate ate Red Lobster and went to the mall....I forgot my second stop was supposed to be to Home Depot and we ended up at home where the LIGHTBULB finally turned on. We forgot to go to Home Depot, so it's next to the coney island. Jim loves shopping on a full stomach...he parts with money so much easier. LOL
My chicken and rice soup is a total concotion LOL. I cook chicken ( I have one of those pressure cooker/slow cooker/ steamer combos) so I pressure cook the chiken in some chicken base and salt and pepper, then add thinly sliced celery, carrots and onions with some parsley and a bit more water and base to the pot and cook for like 6 hours. I cook the rice on the stove and add it to the soup base after it has cooked. It works better to just add the rice a little at a time and serve it as the rice turns to mush ( don't ask how I know that LOL).Like put it in a bowl and add the soup to it..( make sense)
For the bread I don't use a bread machine. I make all of my bread the old fashioned way. We are a large family and a loaf the size that a bread machine can make just insults them LOL
Today it's just old me for dinner. So I am heading to Sam's Club for a roasted chicken and then plenty left over for my Lemon Chicken Soup w/ spaghetti that is from Giada on Food Network. This saturday I am making a gnocchi called 'Gnocchi verdi' from a recipe video I LOVE on you-tube. Her name is 'ilovetocookalot' and I am mildly obsessed with her. She is where I took my pierogi recipe from at Christmas. YUM
I wish I could be more adventurous when I cook....I always have to have a recipe! But you have inspired me....I may give this a try! Sounds too good to pass up.

I made a homemade pizza last night. Made the dough in the bread machine and then added whole milk mozzerella cheese and pepperoni. Won't do it again, the crust didn't do anything for me. Donnie just ate one slice, so that tells me all I need to know! LOL.
Tonight I don't have anything in mind yet.

I have a very easy pizza crust recipe..you only need to let it rest for 5 mins..! I haven't bought pizza crust in years..and my kids actually ask me to make pizza instead of ordering it. I make a deep dish pizza in a 9x13 pan(.it takes two for us)..one will have big chunks of italian sausage and cheese..the other will have artichoke hearts and italian sausage..they are divine.
oh and for dinner tonight is going to be a concoction from leftovers. Some roast beef sandwhiches with grilled onions and a seasoned mayo and provolone cheese on the left over french bread...and potato cakes( Yummy) from left over mashed potatos we had with the roast. It works and keps me from comming up with an entire meal..but I guess Idid that anyway huh?LOL..

Mmm...that pork chop recipe looks so yummy!
Just curious, what am I missing if I were leave out the wine? Any good substitute? I don't drink wine and the idea of buying a bottle just to use 1/3 of a cup for a recipe seems like such a waste.
I'm embarrassed to say that I don't cook like I did when there were four of us in this household. I'm divorced now and my oldest son has flown the coop. My youngest is a little picky. He'll try new things, but if he doesn't like something I'll be the one eating on it for the next few days just so it doesn't go to waste.

I'm not a wine drinker either...I just bought the cooking wine that is on the baking isle shelf at my grocery store. Cheap and small. I'm sure maybe chicken stock would work???

I like that you are using leftovers and reinventing for another meal! That's awesome. I always end up discarding

If you want a treat, both for your stomach AND your eyes, this is a food blog that I've been following that is really quite terrific; sweetsugarbean I've tried about 6 of her recipes so far and everything has turned out great and super-delish (in my opinion!) although my finished product doesn't quite look as pretty as hers. Even if you don't ever make any of the recipes, her food photography is worth the look and she is an entertaining blogger.

We re a family of 6 so I must utilize left overs ( if there are any..most of the time there is just enough for my husband to take for lunch the next day..that happens when you feed 3 boys LOL).
Tonight is going to be 15 bean soup and corn bread..a nice cold weather meal..and my pressure cooker does most of the work so it is a win win for me..LOL
I will check it out! Do you like the Pioneer Woman as well? Tonight I'm hoping for some authentic San Antonio Mexican food at Mi Terra's. I probably won't be on much.... Probably like Sunday. You all have a good one!

I've never even heard of the Pioneer Woman but after spending about 10 minutes checking her out (and laughing out loud (at work) at least once) I am definitely intrigued. Thanks!

That meat loaf looks good..but no one in my family is big on peppers unless it is the roasted red ones..odd I know LOL ( I think for my husband it comes from his mom putting green pepper in everything she makes LOL)..I wonder if it would taste the same with out them?my kids LOVE meat loaf ( I can take or leave it actually..not a big meat eater myself)...And I have a standard recipe that I have used for years..they eat it and ask for it LOL..
I have not cooked dinner all week. Just picking up food like BBQ sandwiches today. Pizza yesterday. Not in the healthy mode lately. Been drinking lots of fancy coffee drinks too. I'm sure high in calories. Hopefully I will get to the grocery store and cook something decent for my man before he starts to complain!

Hey Laura...did you ever save any of the crockpot recipes from the thread SB had on here their first time? I'm looking for the Chicken Taco Recipe Jamie (jaymerz) posted.

Tonight might have to be date night. I want to go out to Houston for some wings. Maybe throw in a trip to the mall. I probably won't get much support on the mall thing! LOL. Might go by Cheesecake Factory and get a slice of their red velvet cheesecake. Bring it home and eat on it for a few days!

I don't=( She had a blog I was following but I think it got hacked and now it's no longer available. She had some yummy crockpot recipes, I tried several of them=)
and I have to say I have lots of crock pot recipes on my Pinterest board!!! LOL. I could send you that invite you don't want! LOL
lol...I'm SO on the fence. I keep seeing it on fb, but I really don't want to spend a lot of time on the computer etc. I already spend too much time between SCS, blogging, and fb...sigh.
