Do you use a sewing machine to stitch on your cards or a needle and thread? I bought the Sew Easy and am not having much luck with it. Looks like the Friday Sketch including stitching. What do the sistahs do?

I was just getting ready to post the same question! I have the Sew Easy, and the Sew Cute (both still in packaging). Trying to decide which one I should keep. If either. I've read such horrible reviews about both. LOVE the look of the stitched cards, but too big of a pain to haul out my big machine.
I agree Laura. We had one at the scrapbooking store I worked at and it was not easy to use or pierce through cardstock...or keep in a straight line for that matter. I learned how to use a sewing machine in Sept. and can sew a somewhat straight line but to make the turns and have even sewing around my rectangle, haha...that is near impossible!
I was really excited about getting the Sew Easy, until I realized that it barely worked. Now I'm stuck with the several of the piercing heads. I think it would've been smarter to just invest in a sewing machine (even though I don't know how to use one) lol
Glad I didn't bother with this, I am so sewing impaired for some reason. I love the look but... Why don't I just get out my piercer and a template and do it that way. Hmm maybe that is a good challenge for me to do. Sorry it wasn't working out for you(and that I'm no help!)
I got lots of piercers too....might try to sell it all on E-Bay. Definitely regretting that buying decision.

My mother in law bought me a sewing machine for Christmas back when we were first married. I never sew clothes but LOVE it for stitching on my cards! So NOT what she intended!
I sew on my cards all the time and I don't have a sewing machine. I just use a paper piercer to make the holes and then I use DMC floss and a needle. I do have the SU Mat Pack that I use when I am doing straight lines. On oval or circles I just wing it! I do have a couple of circle templates but I find they never fit exactly like I want them to.
If I am stitching on a circle or an oval that I have cut with a Nestability die I often use the light embossed edge as a guide.

I saw a card recently where the girl did it by hand. She just finished a card using decorative paper as the quilt blocks and sewed them with her needle and thread. It was very cool.

Do you have any tips to share? I can't seem to even pierce the paper. I would love to be able to use it. I bought the case and everything.
I don't really have any tips, just that I have done trial and error with certain papers. The really thick is kinda hard to get it thru. I have made some nice cards with it, I will try to post them for you to see.
I use the Janome Sew Mini and LOVE it. I had never sewn before at all when I got it. I have read where lots of other stampers use and love it, too. I bought it and then went to the Gina K. Designs (Stamp TV) website, and Gina has video tutorials that show you how to take it out of the box and sew with it. She doesn't miss a single step. Gotta love that!!

I also have the "Janome sew easy." It is My Christmas present to myself. I have never used a sewing machine in my life and I'm soooo intimated by it! I have to watch Gina's tutorials on it!
I know lots of people who LOVE the Sew Mini, but I have never used it myself. I had a Brother machine from long ago when I lived in FL. Just to sew simple crafty stuff. I bought a newer brother at Target and it was HORRIBLE. It would not sew a smooth straight line. I was very sad...I wanted to many fancy stitches. So, I am still using an old Kenmore that was given to me by my SIL. It's metal, not plastic, so it sits in the floor next to my desk. I use it ALL the time!
I would NOT call myself a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination, but sewing is simple...don't be intimidated sistah's! Get playing with some scraps first and play.

This made me laugh, my MIL bought me one hoping to teach me to quilt (she is an amazing quilter). Sadly, I just use mine for paper, lol! Not what my MIL was intending either!
I've always loved the look of sewing on cards...but yikes the thought of doing all that work by hand scares me. My Mom and Grandmother were excellent seamstesses...they would die if they saw me using my sewing machine on paper but that's all I've ever used it for. My Mom gave it to me for Christmas about 3 years ago. Paula's right, it's pretty easy and just takes practice to learn where you need to place your needle. And don't be afraid to go one stroke at a time (manual if you have to) around curves and angels.
I actually have a singer sewing machine I need to dig out of the closet. It's probably 25 years old and I only made one pillow with it! LOL. Maybe it's time to put it to good use.
