for Joanne Sharpe's on-line lettering class. It starts on February 1st and I am soooo excited!! I'm hoping this will help me stretch myself and inspire me to try some new things.
Um....I just checked out her blog (I GOOGLE everything!) and WOW, she is awesome! No time to take a class, but she is going on my list of blogs to check on...thank you for mentioning this. Always love a new find!!
I just discovered her blog and love it. I love the colors. Paula I'm always envious of your lettering on cards so I'm hoping this will help me with that. I know a lot of it is practice, practice, practice and I'm thinking this will force my hand a little. I have several other classes I'd love to take too but I'm going to do it one at a time and see how I do. Her blog is called Whimspirations.
Her lettering is bold and big and SO dang creative! I love lettering but this wild artsy stuff...it's like love-at-first-sight to me. I just scrolled a few things and knew I had tp come back. I need to store all this inspiration on my ipad for evening browsing! YUM

I signed up for this class as well. Have been following Joanne for quite some time. I love her journals.

So far she's taking it slow which is nice for me. I discovered her reading Somerset Studio's latest Art Journaling magazine. I checked out her blog and was in love!
Pinky I love what you turn in for AJ Mondays - you're light years ahead of me!
Pinky is my art journal hero!!!! Such an amazing talent!

Thanks Cindy! I have only been art journalling since May 2011. I have a lot to learn. I basically just play. There are a lot of "trying it for the first time" pages. Sometimes it works - sometime it doesn't. I am teaching myself to just let go of the "perfection not required attitude" and just make art.

Pinky I loved this week's AJ page - I see some letter love in there! You must be naturally artistic because for only doing this since May you are awesome. I am still hesitant about what mediums can be mixed and used together. I still need to find what suits me. I love the look of lots of people's work but not sure it's me. Have you guys joined the facebook group for letter love? There's lots of action over there.
well I screwed up already! I signed up but didn't carefully read the email entitled "PLEASE READ 1ST" LOL. I logged in to the class from my work computer. Now I guess I can only participate from that computer. I sent an email to Joanne begging for a link I could use from home, but she has never replied so I am thinking that's not going to happen, LOL. My stupidity!!!

Laura lots of people did that. So many she did a video on it! Just copy the URL address and e-mail it to yourself. Open it up at home and bookmark it there.
Thanks for the help Cindy! Now I have other problems, LOL! Just got off the phone with my internet provider....it is running so slow....just buffers and buffers. What I have seen so far sounds great!

lol, I signed up yesterday and glued my pages together and gotta get some duct tape to get my composition book nice and sturdy. {like me} I been thinking about this since I saw your post Cindy...the some other girls in my Suzi Blu class are doing it...and EMILY! I have to too!
I like that you can access forever.... Because I'm sure it will take me forever to finish.
LOL! yes i'm sure it will take me forever too! you guessed it...i signed up! started glueing my pages together last night...a few more to do, then i get to make a pretty decorated cover. in search of patterned duct tape after work.
Today's lesson is on calligraphy. I don't have the pen she uses so darn it all I guess I'll have to buy something new You all know that's killing me - not!! Not only am I learning some things I get some enabling too! I can't wait to see what you guys do. I haven't posted anything. I got a new computer and now I don't know how to get my pictures on it.
I managed to glue my pages and decorate my composition book over the weekend. I found pretty duct tape at Staples Lindabella. How much of the supplies is everyone buying from the supplies list? I know she says don't buy it all, but I am a supplies junkie. I know that I will get started and wish I had this or wish I had that.

Laura I've bought quite a bit - not sure I want to add it up! I had some black markers but ya know I NEEDED more . I got some of the Pitt ones and a whole set of microns. I had the 005 micron but decided I NEEDED more - there's that word again! I also bought some koi watercolor paints, a parallel pen and a couple of fountain pens. I did find a set of 2 BIC disposable fountain pens at Staples for 4.99. Wait until you get to that lesson to decide though. I also bought the little mixed media journal she recommends. I already had a lot of other stuff - watercolor paper, copics, mists, inks. Oh yeah I got some stencils with my last bella order too. Gosh it sounds like a lot on here!
Cindy, THANK YOU for posting this! I just recently signed up thanks to this post. Although I'm only on like lesson 5, I'm not gonna beat myself up over it and just take it at my own pace when time permits. THANK YOU for sharing this!
Oh.... I see a dick blick order coming for class supplies!
I just got my copy of the magazine Cloth paper scissors. Faber Castell has a full page ad for their new Design Memory Craft caddy. It looks awesome!!! I want one!

Linda you had a huge head start on me as far as talent goes but I have to say this class has really been great. I feel much more comfortable and I get that I don't have to make something that looks like anyone else's. I'm just practicing and having fun. Oh - and buying lots of goodies! I have really enjoyed seeing what everyone posts too. It's inspiring to see what can be done.
