If you were selling at craft shows it might be worth the purchase...for personal use...I certainly don't need more than the letters KRA
That's just it, how many letters does the average crafter need? A handful. Even if you're spelling your kids' names you don't need them all. And you can only fit 12 letters in one pass on the largest die cut machine so it seems crazy to me that they are selling them as a set and not individually. I might consider buying a few individual letters, but I'd have to win the lottery or open an alphabet based business to buy the whole set.

Call me "Crazy" but I just called my local library to see if the librarian thought I had a nice idea!

I want to have a free card making class at the library a couple of times this in the next few months!

I have a simple layout I'll use, I'll have all the paper cut and I'll use the package card/envelopes from Michaels (need to purchase a couple more packages with coupons).

Do you think I'm crazy?

Class time during the day.

Age...50+

Size limit 10 per hour slot?

Maybe have coloring with colored pencils?

Washi tape?

I think this is a great idea!
So you aren't going to charge for supplies?
You are limiting the class to 50 and over? Why? Why not just adults?

No, I am not going to charge for supplies (if I did I could not hold it at the local library and I am not interested in having strangers in my home.)

I doubt the supplies needed will even put a dent in what I have in my stamp room (other than the card base and envelopes)! I will have everything pre-cut and stamped so that there won't be wasted supplies.

Adults have young children...and I don't want children...50+ don't have young children (normally).

I'm looking to do this for older folks...going to have the first one with about 7 in each class, do 2 classes back to back on the same day...If it goes well, I'll get a second date with the library.

Just an idea that popped into my head this past week and I decided to be crazy!

I could say it's Kindergarten for the Older Folks! Coloring and taping...no scissors...they might cut each others hair like my boys did to their sister when they were 5 and wanted to be barbers when they grew up...

Oh goodness! I hadn't even thought of that! For the price of the dies you can buy a Silhouette and cut whatever you want!!!!! DUDE!!! That makes it extry crazy!!!

No worries, you're a busy lady! And thanks! If I ever need some huge letters I'll let you know!

Thanks for the encouragement on the class...if you have any ideas please send them my way...this is a test...hope I pass!!!!

Question...

Today I got happy mail with buttons...I just copied the layout and made a card but now I wonder...

How does a person determine if buttons should be naked or have a thread look?

Any thoughts?

I have no idea, but tend to thread mine. I think just flat buttons work when they are representing something else. For example if you use buttons as gum balls in a gum ball machine shaped card I wouldn't thread them. Otherwise, they look naked to me.

I made 8 sympathy cards this weekend. 7 on Saturday and 1 yesterday. 7 in a day is a record for me. I mostly CASEd myself and did 2 of each design, though. Hoping to make some cheerier cards this week.

I did submit one card to Paper Crafts. I HIGHLY doubt it will get picked up, but it felt good to submit again. It's been over 2 years.

Nothing wrong with making cards the same...they don't go to the same people...

Sometimes I just change out the color of the DP or solid cardstock...when each card takes me at least 30 minutes to make with a fresh design even I don't have time to do many cards at the rate...

Now if other people would put the dimensions of their card pieces on their blog I could whip out a few more cards each day...it's the figuring out where to cut the pieces that take me lots of time!

Saturday I actually took the card I got in the mail, measured the pieces and made a card from it!

Are you writing the dimensions down in a notebook for future reference?

I will be spending 21 hours in the car this week... pretty typical week for us lately. I'm grateful to get a card made & a bare bones blog post written. I won't be adding dimensions to my blog posts until this season of life is over.

Now that is a smart idea...and the answer is "No, I never thought of that!"...

I do have a couple of little slips of paper taped on the plastic drawer holder for a couple cards...and I have cards that I've received in a basket but never thought before to actually measure the card pieces!

Guess I'll find myself in the stamp room with a CJ Thanks for the idea...(said in the voice of the Little Red Hen inside my head! )

You know, I never think to add dimensions mostly because the only thing I measure to cut is the base. For my focal point I stamp it and then I just cut it where I think it will look good and then I keep trimming sliver by sliver until I like it. If I mat it, I use the perfect layers tool and almost always use a 1/16 in mat. Or the focal image is die cut shape and that's that. If I measure and cut my pieces first I almost always stamp them wonky or glue them down in the wrong spot. I never really thought about it, though.

So really, I'm normal?

This is how I do it too and think of all those slivers that I throw away...I figured there must be some people who are wiser than me and have it all figured out ahead of time...

But...hey...someone wiser than I just gave me an idea and I am going to use it sooner than later!

Time now to flip the laundry so I can spend time in the stamp room yet this morning!

He has a written plan through 2020... when would be his year to make a run for the Olympics... but we'll see how things go between now & then. And our schedule now is EASY compared to what it will be in a few years. He has to grow a little, he can't shoot 90 meters yet & can't compete at that level. We are in a period of waiting until that happens. The coaches told us when he grows... to watch out... life will really be a blur then!

Hijack over!

Kramomma, one thing I do that I got from Maile Belles is instead of a vertical A2 card make it 4x5.5 in. It makes it look more rectangular and let's you have things hanging off the edge of the card but still fit in a regular envelope.

I have been using the cards with envelopes from Michaels and they are a different size. I prefer the size of 4.25 x 5.5 usually because that .25 inch does make a larger looking card.

I sometimes cut down the card if I miss cut the layers!

I do... But they all aren't being used for stamps. The drawers on the table, they are on the white cubbies that I have in my current area. The other drawers, I moved out of my craft area when I got rid if 99.9% of my wooden stamps. A few of them are in the shed holding my paint supplies, a few in the garage, etc. I like the white drawer system from Michael's way better than the tall sterility drawers.

I did submit one card to Paper Crafts. I HIGHLY doubt it will get picked up, but it felt good to submit again. It's been over 2 years.
Yeah! I hope you get picked up!

I missed the die post, I think I check in before my first cup of tea....anyway, you would have to be crazy to pend that on dies.

I have a cricut E and am thinking of selling and getting the sillhouette. Does anyone have an opinion?

I think I'm drawn to the blue green one the most, but love the varied orang, reminds me of the color coral which is so in right now.

So I don't hijack the fluttering thread with my stamping excitement I'll post it here!

UHM...I had a pleasant surprise in my bag of PTI purchases...Simply Jane was enclosed and it said "Happy Birthday" on it...

I was SHOCKED...uhm...I still am not sure how that happened...but...it happened and I'm going to be excited to use more than the one stamp...but...the first stamp used will be the one I'm most excited about!

That's so exciting! Was it from your friend or from PTI?

I have ordered over the last several years through my friend...I don't know their perks...but I know she has gotten some during those years...so...maybe this time was mine!

Whichever doesn't matter to me...I just wasn't willing to pay $24 for one stamp! Now I got the bonus of the set and I'm going to enjoy most of the stamps!

I'm guessing it's from HSmomof5. And yay for you! I have that set. It took me some work to make anything good with it, but I've gotten some nice cards from it in the end.
