Oh the ONE thing I do really remember.

JOYCE - go get your conceiled carry permit. No creepies should be creeping you out. I have had one for over 6 years now. My 77 year old dad has had one for longer than me. As someone else already said, protect yourself. Do.not. become a victim. Fight back right there.

I was always told by my dad, a retired LEO, and others as well...If you are being kidnapped/carjacked/whatever...do not go with the people. They may kill you somewhere and your body not be found for years. If they are going to kill you let them do it there where others will quickly find you. If they try to carjack you... toss the keys out the window. My theory is the same...if you're going to kill me anyway, you're going to have to do it here and now and figure out how/what you're going to do with my body by yourself.

Sorry ...that is a bit of a soapbox issue for me. I guess I kinda feel like Gracey Lou Freebush when it comes to my friends.

imthenoni...if I drove to the next town to get cheaper gas I would be driving 10 miles at least...don't think I'd save a dime! The next nearest town is 15 miles...BUT...we do buy gas when the tank is just under 1/2 a tank so the bill is never over $75 even for the gas gussler...

My day ahead...

Surf...then make a plan...

Feeling a bit less energetic this morning. Of course, I haven't had any protein to speak of since Tuesday. I'll try scrambling some eggs in a minute. Kids have been waking up at night, too.

It's Sukkot and between the surgery and the rain we haven't done anything yet. I need to change that today!

To Dos:
Pay bills
Sort through coupons, make shopping lists
Errands - I want to get some knitting needles with my 50% off michaels coupon, PO, BN, and somewhere for probiotics, and we almost always need bread and milk
Stamp
Make challah
Bake banana bread, bake something for neighbor who had foot surgery - it sounds awful! They took a bone from his hip and put it in his foot!
Wave lulav
Sukkot craft
Keep up with meds
A little more sitting today, I think

Took out 5 baggies of fruit to only realize now that I need to go to Aldi before I can make all that jam!

Red Bear is going to call me when he leaves EP and I will meet him at his second job to trade vehicles so I can go south to shop...

Twix is sitting in my lap, the house is quiet except for the washer spinning...and I am going to sit here and see what's happening on some blogs today...

You've got some 'splainin to do...

I need a reminder...how do you celebrate Sukkot?...and if you always need bread from the grocery store then why is making challah on your list (that is bread correct?)...

What is wave lulav? What are you planning to make for a Sukkot craft?

Sounds like a day you will not be sitting much...if at all...

Okay, I buy sugar free whole wheat sandwich bread. It's easier for Jeff to track his calories and carbs and my kids just like it better than homemade bread. I make challah for the Sabbath and holidays. But I make tiny loaves now.

Sukkot is the Feast of Tabernacles. It's both a harvest festival and a memorial of the time in the wilderness after the Exodus. You celebrate by building a temporary shelter - a sukkah - and living in it for the week. Well, between the rain and the mosquitos and the ants we'll be doing good to have a few meals outside. You also wave a lulav and etrog. The lulav is a bundle of branches - palm, willow, and myrtle - and the etrog is a citron. It's from Leviticus 23:40. You hold them in your hands and wave them.

For a craft, we'll either make a sukkah out of popsicle sticks, fruit themed sukkah decorations although we'll have to wait for a dryer day to put them up, or something else. I haven't looked through my books yet.

While the town is a bit of a drive (about 20 miles) for us, we were going there anyway so the gas savings was a bonus for us. Gas here at home (we have a much higher gas tax than across the border state) is $3.25 per gallon at the lowest so it was a savings of .36 per gallon. Not too bad. But again, if I weren't going there already I'm not sure I would have made a special trip.

Good morning all. I hope you're all having a good Friday.

Paula - it is so interesting to learn about your religious celebrations. Thank you so much for sharing and educating us, or maybe I should just say me. As a Gentile I'm not as familiar with some of the terms and traditions, though I do have Jewish friends.

Kra - I hope your day goes as you have planned it to. Making jam sounds like it would be a lot of work but fun at the same time.

Joyce - hope your stuffy nose gets better.

Patricia - safe travels to "the big city"

So last night was a bad night for me. I think I strained a muscle way down in my girly parts while lugging CPR mannequins around yesterday. So every time I moved I was made aware of it. I took a load of ibuprofen and wound up sleeping most of the night in the recliner (sitting position was most comfy). I'm much better today. Still a bit of a twinge when I get up and down but much better. I will not be lifting much today to pack the car. God help us with how dh will pack it but better he do that than me hurt more.

So my list of the day.

1. am routine
2. fold 2 loads of clothes
3. hang clothes (I air dry many of my clothes so now that they are dry I need to hang them)

4. pull the golf information out of my bag for dh to review (are we taking the golf clubs so he can play golf with dsil or no?)
5. finish pulling clothes to pack for trip
6. catch up with you ladies again (I'm on top of it right now)

7. strip bed and wash sheets
8. re-make bed (I love having clean sheets when we come home)

9. call my dad and talk with him for a while - we're going to have dinner with him so ...
10. start packing things into the car - just have the food items and computer, etc left to put in there.
11. make a bunch of brownies (some for home and some to take - dd2 will not be able to make the trip with us...dd1 & family will be there for 4 days)

12. put dishes away
13. wash up newly dirtied dishes (after making brownies)
14. find a gallon pitcher to take with us for tea
15. measure out tea bags and sugar for 3 gallons of tea for trip (pack them with the other kitchen things
16. keep check on my packing list so I make sure I don't forget anything

17. figure out something for meals for today
18. clean out frig
19. bring garbage can up from the street
20. empty garbage in the house

21. sweet floors
22. mop floors
23. clean off counters in kitchen
24. pick up a few things in the dinning room
25. pick up a few things in the living room

Well that is a long list so I guess I'd better get my bum out of this chair and get moving. Hope everyone has a wonderful day today. I'm motivated this beautiful rainy morning to get things done inside.

Paula, I've seen some beautiful weaving of palms and vines on doors and such, wish I was that talented. I guess buying isn't the same as making your own, but I wonder how many take that route these days?

Donna, I used to teach self defense and classes on how to restrain people acting out when I worked in the hospital. I surely would put up a good fight before I got in a vehicle with anyone. However, post stroke my skills are surely diminished and will consider my options. I just hate that we live in a world tht these things are even a concern

My list is the next page back on my computer so I'll just say...I've been putzing away at what has been needing doing...

Now I am going to shower...and contemplate life as it is...and decide if there is something I can do to adjust myself......then...I will work on making jam in large jars because...I know several large families...and well...I just don't think a half-pint jar will feed a family of 10 with more than a lick off the spoon per person!

I forgot to say how much I have enjoyed using a purple dishcloth in my kitchen as I've putzed today! It really does make me smile...useful gift...and it goes nicely with my green potholder that also makes me smile!

I like purple and green...

I agree it is a shame that our society has gotten to the point where we worry about every vehicle that goes by and every person who looks different. Unfortunately there is more and more evil out there and we now have to protect ourselves.

I remember in my childhood that we did nto even lock our doors. We slept with our windows open and just the storm door (if you had one, most people had screen doors) closed with the actual door open at night. When we went out of town everyone knew it and couldn't wait for you to get back to tell them about it. And we didn't even lock the door then either. A child was safe to play in their yard or down teh block or in the park without parental giudance. We were told to be home with the streetlight came on. You rarely heard of children that went missing, home invasions and the like.

It is scary how our society has changed over the last 40+ years.

quick pop in, glad to hear you are doing ok, Paula. Glad you took a nap. Sounds like so much to do and recovering from the surgery. I love hearing about your celebrations and remembrance activities!

Donna, ugh! So sorry!

Hope everyone is well today!

Dryer is down for maintenance. Adding MUCH to my work load.

See you all later!

Love auto correct...and at first read through I thought...what type of Texan dish is Hili?

I think I'll go make 2 batches of peach jam and see if there is enough sugar for 1 batch of strawberry jam...

how are you feeling Melissa? Are you home or at work?

Kramomma - YUMMY!!!! My sis posted a pic on fb of her peach butter a couple of weeks ago. I sure wish we lived in the same town for more reasons of course, then a jar of her peach butter but that would be a fun side benefit!

Cher! So fun for your kids!
Paula, even though I shouldn't...have LOTS to do but havn't rested all week even at night (except for sleep) I am putting on Sense and Sensibility the one you mentioned. Haven't watched it in ages....not sure I will watch more than a few minutes (work guilt might get to me) but I am going to start it!

Hmm. It's almost 1 and I'm just not feeling today that much. I just stared at my stuff for a good 15 minutes by way of "working" on a card. Looked at pinterest and have a few ideas now, but I need to hit Michaels first.
Anywho. Going to start my challah. That might be as far as I get today.

Jars are pinging and I am bummed that I am out of sugar! How can this be? Bummed...really bummed...really, really bummed...

Going to search on-line grocery store ads and see which of my 3 choices has the cheapest sugar...

Now that is sad...

But so is mrslaird's 15-minutes of no success...

I did watch a couple of StampTV videos this morning...Have I said how much I enjoy her teachings? That woman is the best teacher I've watched...she is so detailed, speaks clearly, lets us see her, and well...she has great products too!

That service announcement was not paid for or solicited by GKD nor any of her affiliates or associates!!!!

I need a sketch to fit the image that I colored this morning during spelling. The card that I came up with, looks too much like something I've already submitted this month. I want to do something a little different.

This was my problem. Everything I could think of was something I've already done.

Cher have fun with the kids and their new house.

Ashlyn and I went to the Amish store today to get our grill tanks filled. We got a little lost so getting there took longer then it should have. But it was a nice day for the ride. And I got a plan for 2$, I have no idea what it is but it's pretty.

My washer is sitting with Clorox in it as it smells musty and I don't know why. It drives me nuts. I hate front load washers, will never buy another.

We shared a piece of pizza at our local fair, it was to hot to stay long so will go back tonight after the sun ones down.

Kra, I bought a bag of sugar this week thinking I needed sugar, but I actually needed flour. Glad sugar doesn't go bad.
