In less than 5-minutes I had the dishwasher loaded and I think in 10 minutes I will have all the handwash dishes washed...someone else will dry them and put them away....

COULD NOT DO IT last night...just could not!

thanks for sharing the picture and the who's-who information! As for the wind...uhm...at what point do they consider it a tornado? Guess if it doesn't swirl it isn't a tornado...

My husband is on-line looking for deals so he can "really" have a Happy Thanksgiving! He's sitting in his brown wearing his orange colored shirt! He is quite hilarious as a person...and makes our family smile by his quiet silliness!!!!

Now to that kitchen...

And we're off to the races! Ladies and gentlemen in this corner we have Tom the Turkey, weighing on at a hefty 17.37 pounds. In the next corner we have a 56 year old homemaker from Texas worn down by days of frantic cleaning and last minute shopping in crazed crowded grocery stores. The mission wrestle this turkey into submission and roast it to a delectable golden brown. Complete this meal with gravy, stuffing, oyster stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, rolls butter.... And then finish the meal off with pies of every kind! Can she do it? Well by the grace of God and His working of miracles with the help of a few reluctant family members and fueled by liberal use of wine, I do believe she will, eventually, arise the victor. But, time is ticking.... Stay tuned for updates!

One more post from me!

I have been surfing Hanukkah and I stumbled upon this artist. http://www.jordanaklein.com/gallery/38

Stunning! They are all gorgeous but I especially like her "prayer" category. Something about those art pieces move me!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hanukkah Sameach, Paula!

We are all safe and sound! It was an awful night and we all cuddled in my room together. Things blew around outside and a couple of trees came down, but nothing major occurred here on our property. The rivers are VERY high, though, and some homes are flooded. We saw one persons truck parked behind their house (next to the river) that was in the water up past its headlights. The highways are also closed in spots due to the road being washed out. There is hardly any wind now...I can't give you an exact number on the scale of the wind, because there is no data showing up. I think the weather gauges must have blown down last night.

Our internet was out for a while and we just got it back, so I figured I would give you a little update!

Cher - how funny is your writing! I absolutely enjoyed it. I know your meal is going to be just wonderful. ENJOY!

All I have left is the mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing muffins (I actually bake my stuffing in muffin tins - helps with portion size) and my stupid rolls that aren't rising like they should. The family (kids) won't be here for another couple of hours so I'm relaxing for a few minutes before I wash the last couple of dishes and put them all away to be ready for dinner. I'll probably put the last few things on in about an 1.5 hours.

Love and good food for all

Thanks I had a fun time composing it while relaxing in the tub. I was actually so far ahead of the game that I had that luxury.

Happy day after Thanksgiving! Sorry I never made it here yesterday. We had a nice time. Hope everyone else did, too! I haven't even cracked my newspaper from yesterday so I don't know what deals I'm missing yet.

We do have a little shopping to do, but won't even leave the house before 10. We're going to my mom's this afternoon. This morning I need to work on her hoop, get my presents ready to go, decide what we're taking to the potluck, look at the ads so I know where to go and where to avoid, etc. Oh! And lest I forget, eat my leftover pie.

Good afternoon all. I decided to do a little bit of shopping today. When I say a little bit, I mean I went to 2 stores - Mike's had their adhesive BOGO so winner-winner-turkey-dinner for me (I bought 2 so now have 4) and their picture frames were 60% off plus there was the 30% off your entire purchase so I got about $50 for $24. I wanted a frame to match the others grands' for the new grand. Then I went to Hancock fabrics and purchased some fleece to try my hand at some mittens $2.99 pr yard with an additional 10% off. I feel like I did well there too. Then went to my favorite store to get envies. Got those and some stickers for my Christmas card envies. Spent less than $75 for everything and most of it is for others. Feels kinda good.

I'm in for the rest of the day. Dh is working until 6 so we might go get some yarn to match the fleece for scarves and life will be good.

Hope everyone is being safe and staying as warm as possible today.

Now off to get busy.

I did some black friday shopping too, Donna! From my kitchen table! Gotta love on-line shopping! So far, I have not bought a Christmas gift in an actual store this year. This is good because I have not had time to physically go shopping, so I would have nothing if I didn't do it online.

We drove an hour this morning to the next closest staples and was able to get the computer. Along with out rewards we have been sanding it only cost us $37.

Just another blessing to share

I didn't sleep at all last night even with pain meds, I've gone today so far not feeling to badly. Let's hope by Tuesday evening all will be bavk to normal!

Happy holidays!

Paid cash...had fun...enjoyed time with a friend (she doesn't stamps but sews)...

Michaels had 40% off entire purchase after 12 today...bought yarn...in 3 different kinds...PS is happy...yarn can't be purchased 1 skein at-a-time.

DD1 & I went to the Disney store while at the beach in September where I bought most of the grands' gifts and part of the nephew's. I still have a couple of things for the nephew & 1 for the grands but those are all that I have bought pre-made.

Today I bought things, fabric and yarn and the like to make the rest of my gifts.

Tomorrow we will be headed back out to get a bit more fabric and exchange some yarn. I have some scarves to crochet and mittens to make with those things and I'll be making cards adn some other paper crafts for friends and family as well.

This year is basically a handmade Christmas.

Love online shopping it's how I've been doing my shopping lately as well... except this year I may soon be running out of time if I don't get my orders in pretty soon I sure do hate the thought of having to venture out into those brick & mortar stores

Happy Saturday morning y'all. As it has been over the last couple of weeks I am up and have been so for a while. Can't say I've gotten much done but I am up. I am working on my small shopping list for today and soon will be getting the man up or leaving without him.

Today's plans are

Going to JoAnns to get a few pieces of fabric and embroidery floss and some designer paper. I'm praying that they have not sold out of the solid color fleece I want. If so, oh well I'll back up and punt.

Quick trip to the grocery store for some things to start my annual After-Thanksgiving-use-the-turkey-put-it-in-the-freezer cooking. Some of these dishes will go to my dad again this year so he doesn't have to do so much cooking at his house.

Quick trip to the Dollar Tree for some throwaway freezer-to-oven containers to put my dad's things in.

Getting the truck inspected (tags expire today and except for getting it inspected there is nothing else that can be done until Monday - goofy forgot to get it done on Monday of this week)

Home and work on my Christmas cards - finally decided on the design so I need to get them going.

Not sure what's for dinner and lunch will probably be out so I'll deal with that later.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Donna, handmade gifts are my favorite ones to get! And, all these years later, the things that I have kept from childhood (besides my favorite Brenda doll!) were the handmade stuff. I have a doll blanket that my grandmother made me for Christmas in 1983...she wrote my name, the year, and "Love, Nan Cousins" on it with fabric paints. It's so special to me!

Update!!!

Today's plans are

1. Going to JoAnns to get a few pieces of fabric and embroidery floss and some designer paper. I'm praying that they have not sold out of the solid color fleece I want. If so, oh well I'll back up and punt. - they had what I wanted but I forgot about some yarn (I guess Walmart will be added to my list instead of a regular grocery store) - got the yarn - Woo Hoo!

2. Quick trip to the grocery store for some things to start my annual After-Thanksgiving-use-the-turkey-put-it-in-the-freezer cooking. Some of these dishes will go to my dad again this year so he doesn't have to do so much cooking at his house.

3. Quick trip to the Dollar Tree for some throwaway freezer-to-oven containers to put my dad's things in.

4. Also need to add a trip for cheaper gas (like 30+ cents per gallon - worth the small trip and Dollar Tree & Walmart are on the way back) - OK so not quite .30 more like .25 but still worth the trip

5. Getting the truck inspected (tags expire today and except for getting it inspected there is nothing else that can be done until Monday - goofy forgot to get it done on Monday of this week) - The hubs is doing this as I'm typing so will go ahead and mark that one off

6. Home and work on my Christmas cards - finally decided on the design so I need to get them going. - Not feeling this so it's on the list for tomorrow. I'm going to work on the scarf I'm knitting (all 6 stitches, turn 6 stitches, turn ...repeat. ..repeat) for my step.

7. Not sure what's for dinner and lunch will probably be out so I'll deal with that later. Lunch is out of the way and still not sure about dinner yet - dinner has been cooked and cleaned up

8. Start some of the cooking (soups and fillings) for the freezer while I'm cardmaking, etc. - Not feeling this so it is on the list for tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

I'm with you - I LOVE handmade gifts. It feels like the gift-giver took the time to really think of me instead of just grabbing something off of the shelf.

Our internet was out for a while and we just got it back, so I figured I would give you a little update!
oh my Patricia, i didn't realize you were getting this. hugs to you, hope everything turned out alright.

I couldn't go to sleep until after 2 and woke up at 7 - hate those nights which have come in mass of late. Anyway decided to make good use of the time so I posted this list for today (early this am) and have already gotten a pot of soup and pot pie filling going - not a bad way to start the morning when you can't sleep.

Today's plans are

1. Work on my Christmas cards - finally decided on the design so I need to get them going.

2. Start some of the cooking (soups and fillings) for the freezer while I'm cardmaking, etc. - I've gotten the Italian soup that dh likes to get from Carrabbas going (LOTS of chopping) and a pot of pot pie filling going as well. Yummo. Still have 1 more pot of soup to get going and life will be good in my freezer as well as my dad's.

3. Work on a scarf for dd2 - working on this while things cook

4. Make a pattern for mittens (I need 1 for adult women, 1 for adult men, and 1 for small children)

5. I also have some cards I'm making for gifts to work on as well - I have them all stamped and colored so I just need to cut the card stock, adhere them together and embellish them. - I have 48 of them to make but they will go pretty quickly since I don't have to do much to them at this point.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Red = a work in progress
Blue = IT'S DONE!!!
