That was my thought but my mom thinks it could scare them. There will be so many family members there that they know and my DD has asked so many times. They are only 3 and 5 but we figure a short time would be OK. They knew her and hopefully this will make it more concrete.

I totally agree with you. I realize they are young but they still need to have that closure. A short period of time (maybe an hour) would be a good thing for them, in my opinion. I remember when my greatgrandfather passed away when I was 13 or 14. The last time I saw him alive, he was very sick and looked aweful. When asked how he was doing his words have stayed with me all these years "I'd doing OK for a dead man" He was gone in 6 days. I never went to the hospital and wasn't allowed to miss school for the funeral so my last memory of him was as I've described. I think it might have been better to have seen him at the visitation. I've been to the grave and know exactly where it is but it's just not the same. At least that is my take on it.

I know you're mom disagrees but I think you need to do what YOU think is best for your children. Afterall, you know them better than she does.

Thought I would be here more then I have been, had some very sad news today that a good friend has lost his battle with cancer after 2 years of fighting it, he had just turned 50. It has really hit home with me as it was the same cancer I lost my Dad to 8 years ago, Multiple Myeloma.

Not sure when I will be able to jump back in, need sometime to gather myself up.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

So got a question for some of you scs-technically more advanced ladies.

I have see where people quote more than 1 post in the same post - like - quote and quote and then they post all in the same post. How do you do that?

Morning! And, noooooo, she did not sleep through the night. Up from 3:33 to just before 6. It will probably be a too much coffee/too much screen time day. I don't know how Jeff functions at work on this little sleep on a semi-regular basis. So grateful to be a SAHM. So grateful no one is in school yet.

Today's mini mission:

Look at the expiration dates of the condiment jars/bottles in your fridge. And then remove anything that needs to be tossed.

Good morning!

I've been MIA the last few days...I just COULD NOT use that dinosaur of a desktop we have. My poor kids! And Brent! They use that thing all the time! I think its time to put away some money to get a new one...it is about 8 years old! That really is a dinosaur when it comes to computers.

I don't have much time right now to read the past posts...I did read this page though. And I'm sorry for those who lost loved ones. Marnie, neither of my kids went to see my grandmother after her passing. I asked Jarod if he wanted to go and he said no. Nick said he was too scared. I later learned that Nick was scared because he thought she would turn into a zombie! I bet my grandmother had a chuckle about that one in heaven! We had a good talk about real and fake and then he understood that zombies are not real. When Brent's grandmother passed away a short time after mine, they both wanted to go. I think it really helped them. They realized that it was not so scary and that was just Granny Downey's body there...not so scary at all. They even touched her! Something that I still have trouble doing.

I hope your kids handle it well. In our household nothing is off limits to talk about. If they have questions they can talk to me...and they do! Jarod even talks to me about puberty and girls!!! He won't talk to his dad, though, because Brent gets this goofy grin on his face...I try REALLY hard not to get that goofy grin! My point is, I think the best way to deal with death is to talk about it...whether you are 2 or 102. Be prepared for all the questions that they will have. {{{Hugs}}}

This is one area where I do well at using what we have...I keep all condiments in the door, easily accessible and visible.

I'm not one to try new brands unless we have it at someone's house and like it!

I don't have experience with this...but years ago, my sister in law asked me...Did you know ketchup will mold?

REALLY? wow.

So...if you don't have an expiry date...you can always check for mold!

Still so tired and sleepy. All three are up, though, so it's highly unlikely I can sit here much longer. I already finished the coffee so not much point anyway.

TDD:
Load the dishwasher, start
Wash a load of sink dishes
Um...have Archer read me a book?
