Morning! We're going to the Houston Rodeo tonight. Lots of cleaning that can be done until it's time to go, though!

It will be coming soon. The hostess... I haven't even checked to see who it is, will start a new thread with the theme, etc.

What are the rules? It's been a long time since I did a secret sister swap. For crafty things to buy maybe the new Heidi Swapp color shine spray mists at Michaels? A cute 6x6 paper pad? Washi tape? A kid themed scrapbook page kit? She can make cards with it if she doesn't scrap. Embellishments?

For things to make a pin cushion? Mug rug? Pot holder? Cute apron? (I'm not sure how much you like to sew.) Post it note holder and beaded pen? Recipe card set? Decorate a journal? Decorate a picture frame? A card set?

For non-crafty things to buy, a cute measuring cup or spoon set? Candy? Coffee or Tea? Lip balm? Coloring books for the kids? Make a sugar scrub? Cute dish towels?

I love to sew but am just learning. But those are some great ideas. I may make a little tote and put a few small things in it. A mug rug is a great idea. I could practice a new quilting technique. And add matching dish towels.

Good morning y'all!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was fabulous! Got lots of loving from my little Zachary. he's got 2 teeth now! We always have such a good time with the kiddos but this time was extra good.

They all went to church with us this weekend. Our pastor who came to the hospital when Zack had his first surgery took Zack up front and told the church his story. Then he walked Zack all around to present him to the congregation. Zack was soo good for him and everyone applauded for him. I was so glad they finally got to see him as so many of them had prayed for him throughout his ordeal.

Very blustery day here. Gonna wait until later to walk. Supposed to get up to 84 here today!!!

Ok y'all chatted a lot this weekend. I'm gonna catch up.

Since I'm just getting started this morning and have only gotten this far, this question may have already been answered. Do you have to MAKE something or does the package HAVE to contain $20-30? I hosted a $10 birthday swap where the package had to contain at least $10 worth of goodies. If it is more like that then you could make her a recipe card book (usually a 6x6 when you do the swaps for those) with some recipe cards in it of your favy recipes. You could then add some blank cards with pkgs of embellies to fill the book. You could even do a "Fun Cooking with Mom" book and do some kid-friendly recipes as well. JAT

FlyLady uses the partial week as a week...

This month:
Week 1 was only Friday for the entrance zone
Week 2 The kitchen Zone starts today

Week 5 is often only a day or two but I see this month it will be a full week...

Hope this helps with why you get off kilter...

Yeah for Zack's teeth and for the fun you had with him this weekend. And Yeah that your church family got to meet him. We had so many who prayed for Buddy who never got to meet him. I imagine it is a wonderful thing for your church family who finally got to see the fella you've been so excited about.

And SHUT YO MOUF about the 84 degree weather. I'm so looking forward to it being at least our average on a daily basis. It has been up and down for weeks now from the 30's (which it is calling to be again Wed with a chance of snow tomorrow night & Wednesday sometime) to near 70. Our average for this time of year is 57. Today they are saying upper 40's, maybe (which I could make that lean as they do when they say it) 50.

PLEASE MOTHER NATURE QUITE BEING FICKLE AND MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!! I'm tired of being sickly because you can't decide.

And...stamplady_13...Do you realize you are giving the government an interest free loan all year in hopes they will give you back what you loaned them? There is a way to solve that dilemma...

I'm selfish...I don't do swaps anymore...I would prefer to spend the $20-30 on myself...

UHM...and I did recently...I was enabled by a stamp used on a blog (I"ll let her remain anonymous though she knows who she is ) and it cost me $71

Have stamped using the images and had more than $71 worth of fun in 2 weeks already!

I do like homemade gifts that are consumable...but that would be the Toddlerwannabe inside me...I would go with the dish towels and tote ideas. Lots of free patterns for simple sewing ideas at www.allcrafts.net

We have had the reverse problem over the last few years since our larger deductions finally moved out. This year we had extra taken out of our checks so maybe it won't sting so much. We'll see how much that helped. It seems there is such a fine-line between all of it.

I know we should use our money better throughout the year instead of getting a big return. But. I also know we do better with the "windfall" than we do with just the little bit extra a month. Especially after Dec and Jan with gifts, gifts, and more gifts, plus our HOA dues. So until we are both more disciplined this works better for us. I hope that we make progress and that is not always the case, but for now it is.

Yes, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is huge. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo | Rodeo Houston | Houston, Texas Rodeo The fair is the main reason we're going. We do have tickets to the concert tonight (Styx) and Jeff wants to try to get a few songs in. I'm not sure how that part is going to work out, but we'll have fun no matter what. There is a farming walk-through where the kids get snacks, a petting zoo, tons of rides, tons of food, the actual rodeo and livestock shows, the arts and crafts booths. It's massive. The boys have cowboy hats and western shirts and Archer has boots so they'll be decked out.

The fine line is difficult to find and each year we attempt to get closer to a smaller return...

I did learn this year that if you owe too much that you are penalized for not paying your taxes during the year so that it is not good to swing the other direction either!

We use our small federal return to pay our small state fee...and anything left goes for home education...

Yes, I teared up. Didnt want to embarrass the kids so I held it together. I think it really meant a lot to the kids. Ddil was a bit concerned letting him take Zack but she was glad after.

Ok I'm surprised to say it, but I'm not missing snow so much any more. Hope they are wrong about your totals.

I gotta admit I'm addicted to that big check too. But I guess we should learn to save that money instead. Although at current interest rates it wouldn't be much.

It is a process of learning...and we've had a few more years to work at getting it closer to that fine line and not have to pay a penalty...and not loan money for no interest!

I've learned a lot from Dave Ramsey over the last few years...much of it is common sense that my parents never did thus they couldn't teach by example!

Now if no one has posted I really will get out of the brown chair!

STYX, I am so green with envy you just can't imagine. That group - Oh my the memories - I still sing right along with them - every high and low note. I think I harmonize with myself. LOL LOVE THEM!!!

Y'all don't be too jealous. We might not make the concert part at all. But we'll try! Never know until you try.

Okay, it really is bath time now.

JAT
It just has to be handmade with a 20-30$ value.

Donna, what's the blog for? I use blogspot its free and easy, but the. More professional looking is type pad but I found it less user friendly.
Styx, would be a great show, but I'm thinking it would make me feel old. I've never been to a rodeo. Have fun!

Kramomma, what stamps did you get?

We have had the reverse problem over the last few years since our larger deductions finally moved out. This year we had extra taken out of our checks so maybe it won't sting so much. We'll see how much that helped. It seems there is such a fine-line between all of it.

My larger deduction is still @ home.

But yeah...it's a balancing act to get the deduction right...but it shouldn't be a big whopper in either direction.
