I hope you have already sold them! I'd like to know more about those pennies...

They were my Grandpas and I've been carting them around for the past, ummm, 30 years. I think I could let them go now... especially if I could get $500 or more for them!
Have you done a search to see what others like it are selling for/ or have sold for recently?

It really varies. If they know the grades of the coins, etc - they could sell for over $1000 for a collection - some of the individual coins sell for over $1000 for that matter! But I don't think mine are in that great shape. The best book of them is a nearly complete book from 1909 - 1940 missing only 7 coins. If you sell some of the coins separately they are worth $$ - and you might or might not get more selling the collection as a whole if it isn't appraised. I'll have to do some more research I guess. My DH may want to keep them because they might be worth more later. I'd like to sell them while I can and get rid of the clutter!

Even though the ocean water here is VERY cold...even in the summer...I still love the beach! Walking it and listening to the waves is my favorite too. Sometimes, I like laying in the dune and listening to the sounds around me. Since our beaches are pretty secluded, usually there is no one else around. So the sounds are of the waves, the wind, the birds....ahhhhhh....

I can't wait for summer!

I am glad we are in the MB this week cause it needs it! I have a few more of Jarod's things to move back and then I need to tidy the rest of the room. My closet could also use a little help...I think I may get rid of all the clothes in there that I don't LOVE! It will be a big pile but it will make room for the things that I adore.

I have GOT to get my kids in bed! Then I have to look over my notes for a few minutes because I have another test tomorrow. Not one that involves a lot of studying like one of the tests I had today, but I still need to spend 10 minutes to look over the two pages of notes that I have. Its on preparing documents...2 types of letters, a memo, and an announcement. I need to know the margin sizes and the exact layout of each document (What goes on each and how many spaces between the units and stuff). No biggie.

Off to throw my kids in the sack! At least I don't need to use colorful language...they are already in their pj's!

I've caught up with everyone's posts but the 2 that stick out to me most are 81F today - OMG I'd totally LOVE it! I want to come too. It was in the very low 40's today, wet and cold.

Also TJoy - Hello - and the $250 for 1 coin - OMG! I think I might see what it would cost to have them cleaned and appraised then ...I'm just thinking...is there a coin shop that would take them on consignment? Of course they would get a fee but still WOW! I'd have to tell dh - they have to go now!

We are going to have soup for dinner and I put that on last night so after class tonight I'll just come home and fix a bread or maybe just say forget it eat crackers with it and be done for the night.

Morning all!

Well, I was right. DH is leaning toward... "If the govt stops making pennies their price will go up!" I'm sure he's right, but I'd really like to get them out of the house now. Maybe I could sell all but the most rare one! I'd rather carry around 1 penny than 10 or 15 pounds of coin books. Ooooo - I like that idea!!

Tuesday's are one of the "off schedule" days that I still am not in control of because I leave at 1:00 to spend time with my Mom and get back around 5-6. Mom had a stroke in July and another hospital stay in October so I try to go spend time there twice a week. The hardest thing about it is that my Dad 1) is VERY particular (like if I have Mom make brownies from a box and we don't beat the egg first before adding it to the mix it REALLY bothers him, 2) Loves to debate... EVERYTHING, which leaves me feeling about 12 instead of 45 and 3) doesn't ever ASK he just TELLS. My DD and I got there a few weeks ago and he said to her, "OK, you're going to clean the house every week when you come and I'll give you $10. This is what you have to do..."

Granted, the $10 is nice, but now she dreads going because he keeps adding things to the to do list.

SIGH.

OK, so I don't TOTALLY hijack the thread, here's what I know I have on my plate...

Finish Breakfast
Make Pancakes and put in Freezer
Morning Kitchen pickup after DD eats
2 Loads of Laundry
Pack GraceWorks Order, Figure Shipping, Send Invoice
15 minutes in closet
Lunch: Hamburgers and fruit
Pack bag for Mom's
TO MOM's
To Menard's for tile
To Woodman's for cereal, milk, eggs, GF bread mix, bananas, bacon
SUPPER: Chicken, broccoli, rice stir fry
Work on cross stitch
BE SWEET & SMILE

I like hijacks...especially when I get to be the co-pilot! Being the pilot usually means I was a SHE and have a story to tell!!!!

Glad you had breakfast on your plate!

Being sweet makes me think of Chinese food which I haven't had in way too long...they discontinued the buffet completely and well...buying just a plate of green beans doesn't sound too appealing!

Being sweet makes me think of Chinese food which I haven't had in way too long...they discontinued the buffet completely and well...buying just a plate of green beans doesn't sound too appealing!
I noticed the breakfast thing, too.

Glad you had breakfast on your plate!

I only went to a Chinese restaurant once... had something that tasted like stewed chicken livers. Ewwww. DD is allergic to soy now, so no soy sauce at our house, no olive oil for me, no seasonings either... so our "stir fry" is a little bland. My poor husband!

Yup, he is just being Dad. He was like that all my growing up years. He's the most generous and giving man alive - hard working to a fault, but MUST have things done his way. And I'm afraid I'm just ornery enough to say something when I think things should be different for Mom's sake. She lost some of her decision making ability, some of her conversation ability, some memory and some eyesight from the stroke, and you really have to work at it to get her to express her wishes. Dad doesn't have the time to try to understand her, so me telling him what she wants or needs can cause some interesting discussions. Unfortunately I am, underneath my outspoken exterior, really pretty sensitive, so I usually am worn out when I get back from seeing them and I sort of dread going again. As for me being sweet... well, bless your heart! I hope that I am learning, but you'll never know how often I use the delete key!!!

(((hugs))) to you.

My Dad is particular. He's mellowed with age tho.

Sorry about your Mom's stroke. I'm glad she has you to help her. Ur Daddy needs some patience.

Happy Tuesday! (guess I best get to work. )

Yay! This is done. So I'm working in my closet instead. 15 minutes starting right now.

Good morning! I read a chapter in Happier at Home, finished a sympathy card, and rearranged some craft supplies this morning. We're eating breakfast, then I'll bake cookies, then we have a playdate at the zoo. Not sure what's for supper yet, but probably something easy with wheat in it since Passover is next week.
