Got the shoe issues taken care of.
Gone through some empty boxes I had stacking up for sorting and have them ready to crush
Peaked in a room on the end of our house to see what might could go to the yard sale - several things there
Talked with dh about some other things to go to the yard sale as well - He OKed them yippie
Garbage can up from the street
Headache meds on board - again today
Hanging clothes put away (that doesn't happen very often - I usually just use the laundry room for my closet ***eyes roll***)
Measured the small bathroom for new floor covering as I'm going to have to gut it again and re-do the entire room because of an old leak in the toilet

Now to
Go to Goodwill for a set of keys (I don't want them at all but I have to have them)
Verison for phone issues
Lowes to return some things and purchase some new ones (toilet seat, black spray paint, check prices for things needed for bathroom)
Hobby Lobby for more heavy plastic for another project
Dinner

Then home to
Break down boxes
Hang plastic

Paint brackets for dh's study
Soaky bath
Bed

I think that will probably be about it for the day

Getting ready to hit the tub. Decided not to break down all the boxes. I will need a couple to paint the brackets so I don't get overspray everywhere. I'm also going to (at some point in time, soon) paint the cabinets, etc in my kitchen. I'll be painting the hinges and handles for them as well to help them look a little more modern so I'll need that box for that too. BTW they will be gloss black on not quite white paint with a near hint of green added.

A friend of mine gave me almost 2 gals of the white and one of the green so I'm going to mix them all together to dilute the green and have enough paint to paint all the cabinets plus 2 walls. 1 in the dinning room that is the back of the kitchen cabinets and another at the back door that extends into the living room. I think it will make the kitchen look bigger and all more cohesive. Not sure when that will happen. I'm thinking maybe early next month.

I agree with Trish about the hugs and them feeling good but also with Misti - it's too freaking hot for a long really feel good hug. LOL

Good morning!

Donna, sounds like a ton of work, but I'm sure it will look great when your finished.

I had a nice cuddle last night, luckily the temps here dropped to around 50 overnight. It was a gorgeous day!

Tricia, kids! Have fun. Did you decide to go whale watching?

I'm not planning much today as dd wants to go shopping for some new business clothes, she has to be at HQ 6 or 7 days over the next 2 weeks and doesn't have a ton of office attire. She has lost some weight so deserves a shopping trip anyway.

Good for her, I can hardly feature that entire office scenario any more. So glad to be home. I don't miss working away at all. But when you are still young, yes, variety is nice, for those days. Cheering her weight loss.

Mornin' ladies. Just thought I would drop in and say IT'S FRIDAY FUNDAY, WHAT YA GONNA DO? It's been a busy week here and it's quite cool here this a.m. With 61 temp and windy, so don't think I am going to go fishing. I think that means i get to stamp...Yehah. Maybe start some of that Ethiopian flat bread that we loved while in NYC. It takes about three days of setting.
Hope all are having a wonderful summer.

Yes, we decided that it would be best to do that this year. Like you said, you don't know what could happen next year. We have started to save for next year already and should have a nice chunk of change so perhaps we will go somewhere else...off the Island. Plus, we cashed in our recyclables and, with the money that was still in our recyclable account, it should just about cover our boat trip! For the four of us it will cost $165. We had $115 in our account already and we had a ton of recyclables this time. Plus, dad has been hoarding beer bottles. Mom said he has been doing that for a few years. He gave them to us for our trip and we got $100 for cashing them in! So, our water park day is pretty much paid for too!

Good morning! I feel a lot better today! But, then again, only one kid is up yet...we see what their attitudes are like. Yesterday there was nothing that Nicholas didn't do. I think he was doing it just to get at me! He was also like a tornado...seriously! What a mess maker!!

After cleaning a few weeks ago (you remember the big clean) I have been really good at not messing things up too much especially in the bedroom - woo hoo - got it done.

It will be lots of work but I think it will be well worth it in the long run. We have loads of solid wood paneling in our house. DH's parents built the house in 1959/60 so the dinning room, kitchen, living room, the office (or front room, as we call it & soon to be dh's space, the front foyer, the back hall and a bedroom are all paneled plus wainscoting down the main hall). All that makes my house sound really big but all that's left is 1 & 1/2 bath, a laundry room and 2 bedrooms that are not paneled.

Enjoy your shopping trip with dd. On occasion I work in an office and I hate getting ready to go to work as, like your dd, I don't have very many office clothes. Most of what I wear are slacks and tops with sweaters AND I wear them all year around. I have very few seasonal clothes, 3-4 pr shorts and 5-6 long sleeved shirts - that about sums up my seasonal clothes. Sometimes you just get tired of wearing the same things.

Have fun on your trip. And share a whale pic or two. That sounds like loads of fun.

There is precious little recycling for money here unless it is large things like appliances, cars or quantities of scrap metal. Even cans, which we don't use very many of, don't get very much money. DD1 took 6 bags of crushed cans and only got about less than $10. It just wasn't worth the effort or the storage of them to do it for us. We don't recycle bottles for money at all - we used to when I was growing up but I don't know why we stopped. I can remember riding our bicycles to the store on Saturday afternoons looking for bottles on the way so we wouldn't have to pay the deposit on the new one we got. Sometimes we'd even get $ off the drinks because we brought in more than the 1 we needed. Such were the days.

$115 towards the $165 is GREAT!!! It's almost like getting it for 4 for the price of 1. Your dad sounds like a great guy helping in such a way that is easy (it doesn't cost him anything) and selflessly.

The sun has risen and is shining brightly already this morning. It is promising to be a pretty day though we are at 40%ish chance of afternoon rains again. So I'm planning to get some outside things done this morning while it is cooler and dry.

I'm
1.up
2.fed
3.meded
4.being driven crazy by a cat
5.dressed for outside work

I'm getting ready to
6.wake dd2
7.let her get fed
8.help her put things in the attic - may look around & see if there are things up there I can put in the yard sale
9.start working on the outside room, pulling - yard sale items, trash items, etc. I also need to clear 3 shelves and a work top so in the fall/winter we can take that wall down.

10.lunch
11.dh decided on dinner the other night - If you have a Carrabbas's near you and they have lemonchello bread pudding - try it, it's wonderful.
12.continue to pull things in the house for the yard sale
13.go through my teaching bags (yes I know that sounds funny but I have 1 for each topic/subject so I can just grab that bag and know it has all I need in it, books etc)
14.put them back on the shelves with tags on them so I remember which one is for what
15.pull my basic computer teaching books and get the new things put in order.
16.take a shower and get ready for dinner (dh will get home 6:30ish so I need to be ready by then)

It sounds like a lot but I think it's doable.

Hope y'all have a good day - chat a bit later.

I'll share pics, for sure!

We recycle pop cans, juice boxes, bottles, stuff like that. We store it in the basement until we get a big bunch. We have been storing these all year. It's not problem (since we have the room), plus we get a few dollars out of it AND keep all those things from the landfill. We don't have a recycling program here...just the can/bottle drop off, so I try to do what I can.

And, yes, my dad is pretty great! He and my my mom would do anything for my kids...and me and Brent too! My mom is actually taking my kids for tonight so we can go to my friends anniversary party. Tomorrow she is driving them to Corner Brook (2.5 hrs from her home) and staying in my dad's hotel room with them (dad works there 10 days on, 4 days off) so we can go to Brent's cousins wedding on the Northern Peninsula. Then, on Sunday, she is driving them to Deer Lake (another 30 minutes) to meet me and Brent so we can take them on vacation. I told her I would give her gas/food money...she got mad! She said "If I can't do this for my kids and grandkid, that would be pretty bad!" She is the sweetest woman I know!

Tricia, that is exactly how a Mother/ Grandmother should be! Love her too!!! If more were like that this world would be a much nicer place!

Donna, my parents still live in the house my Dad helped build when he was 6 years old. They still have paneling that is painted also. But memories abound!

Janeen, Friday fun day! Woot! Woot!

Morning! Today is payday so I need to pay bills and grocery shop. Also have a free drink expiring tomorrow at Starbucks so I'll be driving through there! Been printing coupons this morning for as many things on my list as I can.

Melissa! Flat Stanley is in da house! Thank you so much!

ok, there's is a lot that I need to read to feel like I haven't missed out on stuf... that'll have to wait though

mashogram done for the year after which I wandered through 2nd hand store but didn't find anything that really caught my eye for a price I was willing to pay. I find that this particular store prices things rather high considering it's 2nd hand...

I have a meeting this afternoon - well, having a conversation really - about a short-term position to give the Sr Pastor a little extra time to find someone for permanent. It's a position that I could easily fill but since the pastor and I are very good friends, he felt it wouldn't be wise to also add into the mix an employer/employee role. I get that. So we'll see how the "conversation" goes this afternoon.

Between now and then I want to find some ideas for make-ahead meals (marinades/meats) that I can just through into a crockpot. DDIL made one while I was in Camrose and I thought it a brilliant idea. Now to find a variety that works here. I have also decided that I will make a menu for August and see if that doesn't help boost my desire to make real food for meals

Also. I want to make a paperbag card for the Admin Asst at the church (today is her last day). She always would joke about breathing into a bag when things got harried... I'll make it so I can fit in some tea as she is a very fun and beautiful English lady

So my plate is full.

Thanks kramomma for pointing out the moon the other night - I didn't have a chance to see it until a day or two later but it was big & beautiful

I will be glad to have this over.

Tricia - Your parents are great. Sadly, only 2 of my kids have EVER spent the night with my dad & the step (dd1 & ds) while "the grandchildren" (those are the children of my brother) have spent MANY nights there and daddy & step used to go a couple of weekends a month to db's house to help for the weekend as well. The funny thing is that all 7 of them (mine & db's quads) love my dad and only tolerate the step (who is the quad's natural grandmother). My kids still don't feel all that welcomed there but the quads are going off to college and won't have to deal with her much any longer.

I wish we had the place to store things like recycling. I try to do what I can but admittedly I'm not as good at it as I should be. Some areas have curb-side recycling. Boy if I had that I'd be all over it. I guess I'm just lazy.

Joyce - This house has loads of memories for dh. His brother won't come inside for that very reason. He just can't see that it isn't his parents' house any longer. I don't have much of their things up or out so I really don't get it and we have done a few things to remodel as well. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

Miss Edith, I hope your conversation goes the way you'd like it to today.

Love the paper bag card with the tea inside idea. Seems most appropriate.

As far as cook ahead or prepare ahead meals. I've read, though I haven't tried so many of them, but you can make pocket meals or put everything in a zipper bag that you'd put in your meal and freeze it together so you just pull out 1 bag and done.

The pocket meals are pretty easy. It's a piece of meat (chicken, hamburger patty, pork chop, whatever), and some veggies. You spray the foil so things don't stick, put a piece of cabbage so the moisture stays in, add your meat, seasonings, and veggies (potato chunks, carrots, onion, whatever you'd like) and seal the foil (fold the top and roll it to the food and then do the sides the same way). Mark it so you know what you have in there and toss it in the freezer. They take about 30 minutes or so on 400 or so and you're done. Add a salad and bread if you'd like. You can also add Italian dressing or any other marinade you like to them.

The other kind (zip bag) is pretty easy as well. In a gallon zip bag put your meat (pot roast or that kind of thing) add your marinade &/or seasonings. In a 2nd bag cut your veggies that will go with the meat bag then add the sealed meat bag to the veggie bag. Label it and toss it in the freezer. When you're ready to cook just pull out the bag, run the meat bag under warm water for a few minutes to thaw it enough to be able to dump it into the crock pot, add your veggies, add enough water to cover the veggies, set it on high and walk away. This usually takes 5-6 hours but it is an unattended cooking task.

I've done a cooking day where I make lasagnas, spaghetti sauce, chili, soups, chicken pot pie (minus the crust) and freeze them. Then all I have to do is go to the freezer and pull something out. I may have to add the crust for the pot pie or the noodles, a salad & bread for the spaghetti, etc. You get the idea.

Hope any of that helps you with your desire to cook. AND BTW any of these can be made as big or small as you need them to be.

I helped dd2 with her things in the attic. I found while I was up there that I have less than I thought but still more than I'd like up there to go through. That will be another day's work or two. LOL

I also spent an hour in that room. I nearly filled my garbage can up with things to toss and found several things for the yard sale. I also found a few thins that ds might want so I'll wait for him to make those decisions when he gets here this weekend. If he doesn't want them they will go 1 of 2 places, yard sale or salvage yard. Boy does that room look much better. Again, it still has a ways to go but I can walk in it now. I have some molding and that kind of thing that needs to leave but since I need to re-do my 1/2 bath now I don't want to get rid of it until I know I won't need it. I'm thinking that it will all be gone by the end of the year. Felling good about that too.

Now to work on those teaching things after a shower - feeling kinds grimy and spider webby. LOL

Hey y'all! I thought I had posted a TDD before running errands, but it was still up on my screen when I got home so oh well.
Today is gonna wear me out! We already drove-thru McD's - had gift certificates from DSIL and had promised the kids - went to Sam's, drove-thru Starbucks for my free drink, then went to Target. (Very proud of myself, I bought zero washi even though there is all kinds of cute new washi and I had an extra 5% off today. Also, shopping for school supplies is a lot more fun when no one is telling you what you have to get. Just sayin'.) We're home for lunch and to get a few things done, then have swim at 4, and have to grocery shop at the grocery store after that. Oy. Vay.

So TDD:
Pay electrcity, uverse
Start laundry
Get bread out to thaw

Well, I got everything packed that I can this evening. All that's left is my toiletries, camera and stuff like that. I'll put those in the car in the morning.

Now we need to eat, get ready, take the kids to Port aux Basques (to my mom's), and go to my friends party. It won't be too late of a night, since we need to be up and on the road early. The wedding starts at 3:00 at church...and Port au Choix is a 5 hour drive from here. Plus, I need to stop in Corner Brook for a half hour or so. The supper and dance is not until 7:00, so at least we will get to sit for a few minutes at the hotel.
