It is quite beautiful here. We live in the country, so there are lots of trees and fields, and the houses are far apart. Plus, the Grand Codroy River runs right through the town. Lots of scenic things!

So we are picking up a desk tonite and setting up a little area here at the apt for me with a good chair for my back/wrist issues. James got a monitor and keyboard to set up and will use my laptop as the computer. Looking forward to that! So I'll work on moving all the little desky items off the glass table the boss' wife bought for that area and getting it ready! I will NOT be looking down 24 floors when sitting at the desk! I will be keeping the blinds closed! LOL

How are the boys adjusting to normal schedules again?? That was sooo amazing!!!!

But we really need to speak to the planning committee and tell them that Colorado is the best place to have competitions!

So...here's a question for you all....I'm finally getting there with being a Fly Toddler and not flybaby. Of course it's only taken years and both kids moving out! LOL But...I want to get organized in other ways now....like sending out birthday/anniversary cards and blog hopping, etc. Any particular suggestions??

Don't be like me and set yourself up for failure by deciding to suddenly send birthday cards to everyone and only make it through January.

I would try to pinpoint what keeps you from sending cards and work on that. For me it's a combination of not managing my time well, not having addresses readily available, and procrastinating on writing a message.

Btw, my new goal that I thought of today is to send a card a week. More is great, less is not the end of the world, but, seriously, making cards and never sending them is like baking cakes no one eats. Yeah, it might still be fun, but it could be so much more.

I agree! I have so many cards and although I send a few....I send not nearly as many as I'd really like! I do donate and have plans to donate more....but I'd also like to send more out. Having addresses handy is my biggest issue....so I need to come up with an address book thingamajig!

Lee, honestly I've tried to use my iPad calendar and reminders but it only works if you open it. Honestly I think I need an old fashioned paper calendar.

oh am I dragging this afternoon. My eyes are burning - I'd just really like to nap but that won't be happening for a bit yet.

Spent some time at the office this morning. oy. Is it ever a lesson for not hoarding. This man has only his office to pack up but he's overwhelmed and doesn't know where to begin. I'd love to show him the FlyLady way but he's not ready to part with much of anything yet. It's going to be a tough day for him when he finally gets motivated to start going through his files & desk drawers, etc... I have tossed & shredded & packed up as much as I am able (the meeting room & receptionist area) but as for his office, I think he's going to have to do that himself. Today he told me that I could start - but how does one start when it's his personal stuff? I'm stumped on that one. Ideas?

well, I have to run to get some bloodwork done. Back in a few

Luvlee...I have different systems...How's that for being a full fledged SHE?

Long, long ago StampinT made me a card binder for the year, I use this for family/friends birthday anniversary cards (ideally I would stash it throughout the year with fresh cards I make)...I have done well up to June most years!

I have a decorated box that sets on my desk (takes up 1/3 of my desk so how does my desk get messy? ), in this box I recently organized the cards in an order (I would like it to have even more dividers but at least I got it started after 2 years!) so that any of my family that wants to send a card can also use these cards. Envelopes are also kept on the side of this box.

My Flybaby list is a printed off old copy from the early days...it has added names and addresses on it that are hand written...This is folded and stashed on the edge of the card box.

Birthdays/anniversaries are written on my WONDERFUL FlyLady wall calendar in blue at the bottom of each date along with the 'year of significance so that if it is a significant year I can acknowledge that in the card.

My family made me go computerized for an address file a couple years ago, this does NOT work for me and I am slowly working on putting the information back onto hard copy in my CJ ( GraceWorks Purpose Planners ) which I absolutely think is wonderful...and inexpensive also! (No benefits have been granted me in plugging T.Joy's company...I just find it very pleasant and useful...just like GKD paper USA and Canada !)

I would like to think everyone loves the cards I send...but...the truth is not everyone likes homemade...so those people rarely get a card from me! Having discovered putting the cover piece over the embellishments has helped in the cost of sending cards...most cards I send cost one stamp...if it is going to cost an extra 20 cents then I send it in a clear envelope because I already know it is going to cost the 20 cents extra and I let others enjoy the prettiness of the card!!!!

Stamps are located in the drawer directly under the card box.

Do I have a great system...not usually...when I think of sending a card I usually don't have the "right" one so it keeps me from sending a card...cause everyone doesn't like purple...and I seem to make a lot of purple cards because...well...purple makes me smile!

Well, what worked for me in the past was to keep a list of people thumb-tacked to the wall in order of the month their birthdays are in. (I tried the calendar...but I didn't flip through it fast enough and missed birthdays.) Then, every time I did a challenge or DT card I did it with the next person on the list in mind. I also addressed the envelopes in advance. Of course, I have had no time to do anything in the past year or so. Perhaps I will use my own method again and schedule craft time in there.

Kramomma, I LOVE your cards!! I love the fact that they are so pretty and that you took the time to make them. Honestly, though, what I love the most about them are the beautiful messages that you write inside.

Kramomma.....but everyone should LOVE whatever the sender gifts them with! I know I do!!

I love all the ideas!!! I will most likely use at least a couple/three ideas....I'm not one to ever do something just one way!

I am planning a little idea/inspiration board...so maybe next to it a list type/calendar doohicky.

The one year that I sent cards to all my family members I printed off their addresses on labels and stashed them in an envelope pinned to the bulletin board above my desk. That seemed to help get past the procrastination issue of addressing envelopes. However, I still had to work at remembering to make the cards early enough to mail them

Why didn't I keep on? I dunno. I think prob'ly because it seemed that no one really appreciated the time & effort I was putting into making the cards Like kramomma said, not every appreciates hand-made

I also addressed the envelopes in advance. Of course, I have had no time to do anything in the past year or so. Perhaps I will use my own method again and schedule craft time in there.

I like this idea. a.lot.

kramomma, your box sounds like an idea that works really well for you & your family! It's great to have your cards, envelopes, stamps & addresses all in one place!

Yes, you are...you do whatever works for you...and if it doesn't work...well...then you try something different when you realize you need different!

Starting with the name on the envelope I'm certain!

Long, long ago when Kub used to send about 150 cards a year to our church people (adults and children) he made the cards the month in advance, he stamped the inside with a greeting, then I would sign it from "The Amundson 5", someone would address the envelopes (not me or Kub), put our return address on the envelope and the important date where the stamp would adhere...

These cards then got placed in a holder on my desk and twice a week we would check the upcoming dates, adhere a stamp and put it by the back door for krapoppa to put in the mailbox on his way to work!

This was our family ministry for several years...we all miss it...but I think we all miss Kub the most!
