Default JULY Chattering & Fluttering

Welcome to July!

Flylady's July habit is: Swish & Swipe

If you already have that one down, think of something else that you need to work on & try to make it a habit this month.

Good morning!
Happy July!

I would not be functional without AC here. We have a high of 90 today, I was already out and watered my garden and flowers this morning and its hot already.

My family makes Carmel corn and roasts peanuts at our local fire company carnival. Total volunteer work and let me tell you it gets hot around the roasters. I manage to help a few nights during the week, but I can sit and stay outside often, but I don't do the parade. 4 hours of walking the parade route to sell popcorn, peanuts and water is just to much. The pavement makes it feel like 120 degrees!

July already?!?! It's hard to believe! Time is going WAY to fast....

I'm doing a few things around the house this morning "(laundry, dishes, whatever else I am in the mood to do) and then getting ready for the Canada Day celebrations that start at 2. Nicholas is excited because they have rides in the firetruck today! There are fireworks tonight at around 10, so I will be in PAB all day.

HAPPY CANADA DAY, CANADIANS!!!

And Happy July everyone else! Hard to believe! So far today Archer cleaned my living room windows, Amelia and Ezra scrubbed the walls for a little while, and I ordered a couple of gifts on Amazon, scrubbed a few walls, and supervised their cleaning.

Today I have three unpleasant calls to make - insurance company, urgent care, and getting the dog set up at a new vet. (The last one shouldn't be bad, but I don't like making official calls. The first two should be real humdingers. ) I have two to three places I should go - Kroger, Aldi, and maybe HEB but I might save it for tomorrow. And I need to deal with laundry and dishes and declutter 100 things. I want to start working on my shorts, make a birthday card for a friend, and knit. Which is a full day, lol! Probably more full than I can manage. People before projects and to dos.

I cleaned my master bath and washed my sheets and remade my bed.

Ashlyn is bringing home bento boxes for lunch.

Made broccoli slaw with nuts and craisins for a healthy snack.

Sitting and drinking some water until lunch gets here. I'm thinking I'm dehydrated a bit.

Misti, is the sulfur treatment helping your hands?

Joyce, me too. I've been slacking on water the past couple of days. Trying to drink more today.

I was just looking for additional yoga classes in my area and found one that does hot yoga. I'm thinking that's probably not for me. I would be totally dehydrated after that. But maybe this winter when I'm complaining about the cold. Lol

Oh. A little. Basically, when we took our kids to urgent care for strep throat because they got sick after 6pm on a Friday we thought we were taking them to someplace faster AND cheaper than the ER, but we might as well have taken them to the hospital because they charged us LOTS of money just like a hospital. I was calling the insurance company and/or the clinic because I just didn't see how the bill could be right. But it is. Anyway, it was kind of a kick to the gut to see it and I'm not pleased that it is accurate, but it will be okay. It just makes me anxious about money for the future because it is going to use most of our FSA. And knitting and chocolate and essential oils and praying calm me down so I did all those things.

Remember that emergencies are why you have the FSA...yes...it will be gone when it is used but you now know to put more in it for future life with 3 children and 2 adults.

Emergencies happen...accidents happen...the good part is you were prepared because you prepared!

As for the chocolate, knitting and praying...glad all 3 helped calm you...

I need to make a list and fly a bit because I was resting after driving PS into the metro to fly to San Antonio! Cleaning helps calm me...

Editing because it sounded super whiny. Basically it was just a lot more than Jeff or I ever thought it would be and I would not have taken them to that specific place if I had realized it billed through the hospital. But I am very grateful to have the FSA.

You were not even a little whiny...you were stating the facts...and it is a learning experience for people...including myself that today's insurance and billing practices need to be considered...SADLY before you make medical decisions if you don't have finances to pay the unexpected bills.

There are a lot of medical practices that I think cost money that could be avoided as expenses...

One of them is for specialists that do not take into account that they are the chosen representative from a hospitals choice but may not be covered by my insurance company and they will not give a break in their cost.

Also the fact that insurance companies pay less for the same doctor than a person with no insurance...very frustrating to have a low income earner who has no insurance have to pay a higher price for the same doctor and care than someone who has insurance that negotiates the price that the doctor will be paid...

I'm not whining but medical issues are usually an emergency...how many people go in to the doctor to have a social visit? Not me...though I really like my doctor and would enjoy some positive conversations with her outside of medical ones I'm sure!

I'd like to ask her some time what makes her tick...maybe I'll do that at my next appointment when I haven't used my entire 15-minute time slot and see if I can get my full time allotment for my $200!

I enjoy learning from your posts...I was not an informed person when I was your age...I just lived...and some how survived...

Sorry for the chapter...

Now I must find those flylady wings that are attached to me some place...I'm going to set the timer for $15 and see what I can accomplish while RB drives home...

I no longer rock his world...and it is strange to think I'm not the first person he wants to tell about his day...but I want to be ready when I get to be second!!!

I know it was and I appreciate it.

Oh my. I'm grateful for the reminder to cherish these little years of legos and cartoon plots and band aids because it will be wedding bells before I know it. And that will be exciting and sad for me all at the same time.

House in order and even took time to look for the bill from Mustang repair yesterday...can not find it...hmmm...and can't find the notebook for previous repairs...

Me thinks I was charged for some of which was done previously and that stinks because I really like where I go for repairs...going to do some searching...for the facts!

Going to take the last 3 bills in to the repair place and ask a few questions tomorrow! Might get some of the money paid back...I'm only beginning to understand car repairs out of necessity!

For 14 years we have been using this business for all our vehicle repairs...for 12 of those years the service manager was a person who I trusted...sadly he retired!

The last 2 years I have had to learn about repairs, when to rotate tires, when to have filters replaced, what a 100,000 mile service doesn't include...and the list goes on...well...this time it seems I've paid twice for the same repair just 5,000 miles ago on the same vehicle...surely there was a flaw in the service...and I'd like to get a few of my dollars back...

I did get some discounts but should I have been charged in the first place?

Going to ask...

Our hospital here is a monopoly really, they have urgent care centers, but they also bill just like you went to the main hospital even though they don't staff a doctor at the urgent care centers, they are staffed with a nurse practitioner here. The one closest to where Ed used to work often sends people over because they can't treat more invasive issues. Good for the patient because Med Express gets you in and out in an hour and have tiers for charges so you know up front what the cost will be if your insurance doesn't pay. But they aren't that far west yet. Anyway, hope the chocolate is helping.

I had breakfast for dinner because Ed had leftovers.

I could empty the dishwasher, but I'm kinda spent for the day. Maybe after my banana ice cream.......

When are the big events here at Split Coast? Is one in August?

I'm trying to decide if I want to take a scrap room organization class in August. It's only 15 dollars and it might help me get some things more organized in hopes I'll scrap more once I'm not bulged down by all the stuff. I can't stand feeling cluttered.

Lee said DTGD was written in pencil for the first of August... the 2-5 maybe. But there hasn't been anything announced that I've seen yet.

Thanks, I'll put that on my calendar!

I had an awful night. My hands and feet are so swollen they hurt unbelievable. My ring was hurting so bad and I couldn't get it off. Luckily this morning its a little less swollen. Still can't get my rings off but better. I'm thinking I can't eat Japanese. Must be all the crap they use in the sauces. Ugh! My restaurant choices are dwindling

Today

Call the nurse back, she called 2 days ago and I keep forgetting to call until its to late.

Good morning! Blender muffins in the oven, built legos with Ezra, and blogged a card so far today. I couldn't sleep last night and he was up at 5:30. There ya go. Coffee? Don't mind if I do.

Have to go to Kroger, somewhere else for tortillas if Kroger's bread prices hold, and to the library. Besides that I want to get these dishes washed, knit several rows, go by Ulta for a gift card, get a few things baked, and I dunno what else. Oh, figure out my log-in on Dad's study site for one thing. And shorts. I really should start making my shorts. It's July in Houston and I own one pair of shorts. Not good.

Oh no Paula, that is not good. I can't imagine wearing anything else but shorts or light dresses there. You better just make two pair!
