i'm gonna toss like MAD WOMAN on a mission - Feb 2013
you wanna join me...on the toss part, I mean.
one major principle of FlyLady living is decluttering. you cannot deep clean or even do a quick WHB when ya got schtuff sitting around. or visible surfaces are decluttered, but the closets are full. or there's not a place to make a home for something that needs a home.
schtuff slows ya down...be it mental, physical or environmental.
so...this month. ask yourself, do you love it? do you feel good when you see it? do you use it? when was the last time you used it? is it broke? are you gonna fix it in the next seven days?
I have really enjoyed reading Peter Walsh & we did have several Peter Walsh threads last year. We'll be discussing various techniques, processes & methods we use to achieve our decluttering goals. To achieve your goal, gotta have a PLAN. As Hannibal says...I love it when a plan comes together.

It's been years since I watched the A Team and the main thing I remember is Mr T (that is the right show, yes?) so when I read Hannibal, let's just say that's not the Hannibal that popped into my mind!

And, yes, I'm in! I decluttered patterned paper yesterday - about a full iris case of it. I'll probably focus on my craft room and guest/junk room. One of them will be Amelia's room and the other will be my craft room. EVERY room in this house needs it, though!

Well, that won't help because I forget his name is Hannibal.

way deeper and on a slant than a paper cut and i haven't been touching any paper...a little blood, not much. ?????
I have a trunk full of boxes and bags of stuff that I finally loaded into my car today.... only to have my car not start so that I could drop it off at a donation place. Rats!

I'm in. I did my first 15 minutes today. That room has a long way to go. I wonder if I can convince hubby to let go of some really old video games.
I need to keep culling through the craft supplies. If nothing else to make some room for my newer supplies. I have patterned paper I haven't touched in years. I keep saying maybe I'll want it for a project with the children. I need to let some of it go. We can only make so much.
Anyway I am on board. It seems I will get an area cleared and it just gets covered again anyway.

You can donate your old craft stuff to the elementary school. Kindergarten teachers would LOVE to have those fee supplies!!
I just got back to read this thread. WOO HOO I'm not too far behind and will spend my 15 minutes this afternoon decluttering. I soooooo need this in nearly every room in my house. I need to hit my front coat closet (hope dh will get rid of some of his coats), my hall closet (I use it to store gift wrapping, etc but it has overflowed and you have to shut the door quickly dyk), AND we won't even talk about my craft cave (it will take a couple of days of 15 minutes, lol).
Off to teach a class and then home to start those 15 minutes.
Y'all have a great day!

We moved this summer to a house that we love but is 700 sq ft smaller than our last home. With 5 people, we do notice the difference.
I have been listing stuff on ebay and have gotten more than $300 so far with lots more to go. (maybe that will motivate someone)
So, today I will declutter for at least 15 minutes and post when I'm done.

I did 10 minutes in the bathroom closet this morning (one shelf)...I have...back when I was a coupon crazy diva more bottles of shampoo & conditioner and styling products......so...I put all those in a bag...it's good stuff...Garnier, Pantene, V05, Renpure...not sure WHAT to do with them...but they are going O U T! I'm thinking to just put them on the table and if co-workers of clients want one, take one, PIF.
IDK. But they are going o.u.t. I color my hair & have used all the color treated formula stuff. This stuff if for volume, dry / damaged...I don't perm my hair anymore. So I don't need it.

Do you have a women's shelter close by? They would love those things!
cleaned my stamp room after the VSN. whew! lots of stuff everywhere. it took 45 minutes and then i promptly sat down and made the last card for VSN b/c it was so clean and I found the perfect piece for the "recipe challenge" BONUS!
15 minutes in that room upstairs. Can't see much but I did work hard at it. Then I did the window sill over the kitchen sink, hung a rack in my oldests room for his lanyard and watches, cleared room on a bookshelf by putting away some photos that need to be put in albums.
ah the linen closet!! Why was i hiding all that stuff in there, why was it on shelves that did not work for me. i could never reach the kleenex boxes on the top shelf, left it that way for twenty five years. oy!!
There was never room for the toilet paper and it would just get shoved all wonky onto the floor level, it didn't work but that's the way it was.
I tossed or have ready to go to Salvation Army- and Goodwill. Bar Soaps, Deodorants, pillow cases, bandaids, shaving creams, candles (we don't even like to burn candles) Scentsy Scents (for DD) she likes them, we do not! Toilet brush looks brand new, i don't like the shape of it, dish cloths, dish towels. Well because of the stack of new dish towels i found in there, then i went into the kitchen and cleaned the linen drawer in there. Threw out all those stained and nasty hand towels, dish towels, etc. and whatever else was hiding in THAT drawer and put the nice pretty new ones in there. They had already been laundered but never used. they got stuffed under other towels. I found a brand new sheet set queen bed, i have no idea how that got there, it is 60% poly and we have been using 100% cotton for as long as i can remember. it looks cheap. it's still boxed up,says $59.00 on it but i don't think i would have spent that. DH loves the cleaned up look. Likes the kleenex boxes where I can reach them, (i don't have to call him to get them down for me.) Also getting rid of sanitary pads of all sizes and tampons. I kept a few in case we have company and there is an emergency but i don't need 48 of em. All in all, it looks great, i'm surprised what all came out of there. i am happy happy happy

Well today was a bust for me. After spending so long at the college teaching that class I felt like poo when I got home. Then dh wanted to go to town and have dinner and get fuel for the car. And I'd set a goal of finishing a book today. Then fell asleep (have been up since 6:30am) now I'm awake but think I'll go to bed and try it tomorrow. I will absolutely spend at least 15 minutes decluttering.

BTW - I am getting rid of something for the cat. It is one of the square things that is made of fabric that they can crawl in and sleep. Our cat never uses it. However, dd1 brought a tower (the two hole tube things) that he really likes. It takes up less room. Does that count at all?
Tomorrow I'm going to hit the coat closet and see what I can do with the hall closet. Absolutely more than 15 minutes worth each.
