Default Week #1 Closet

This week I will be working in the closet where I store baggies, wax paper, plasticware, paper plates, napkins, extra bathroom items...the closet is at the end of our hallway on the main floor. Here is the picture of what it currently looks like.

I'm going to follow your list for January, Kramomma. This month it will be closets.

January
~Jarod's closet
~Nicholas' closet
~my closet
~Brent's closet
~Coat/boot closet
~Seasonal coat "closet" in basement (not an actual closet...just a closet bar with season item hung on it at the bottom of the basement stairs. Everything has garbage bags over it to keep the dust away (it's close to the wood stove area).

Here is the "clean" closet. Off the top shelf I took out some items to give to the boys, on the second shelf I thought I needed sandwich baggies but discovered a box of 400 on the bottom shelf!

On the third shelf I found the toothbrush attachments that I thought I had bought at some point...and I found a 30 bars of homemade soap that I was going to order more of...

SO...by organizing what I have I added nothing to the list to purchase...

While cleaning the hall closet I refilled items in the master bathroom and decided to clean the cabinet underneath the sink...

Took out 5 puke holders...decided since there are only 3 of us living in this house any more that I don't need 5...and honestly I can't remember the last time I used even one...

I will put one in each bathroom and get rid of 2...never had one in the guest bathroom before but now I will...

No pictures of cabinet underneath the sink!

We use the mop bucket. And that's in the laundry room closet, with a jug of bleach sitting in it. Been a long long time since we needed a puke bucket, too. YAY.

I don't have a mop bucket...but then I don't have a mop either!

I have been known to give a kid an empty ice cream bucket that I can then toss in the garbage...

Now...that is deep cleaning...just so I don't get accused of hijacking this thread...

I'm going to try and hang with this. I to will do closets in January. First up will be pantry closet and checking for expiration dates on food. I know there is some stuff in there that needs to be tossed rather than continually being pushed to the back.

Second will be hall closet and then my bedroom closet. I need to get rid of some cloths I don't wear anymore and actually haven't worn in years.....

I know it isn't Tuesday but I'm ready to tear into these 2 closets...here are the before pictures...the left closet is for company coats & K's dress coats because as you can tell the right closet doesn't have space for her dress coats to hang long...

That is part of the change...the music bookshelf is coming out of the closet and going to be put inside a cabinet in the front room...bookshelf and all! Quite funny...when the second son got married he took the TV that was used for watching videos (we don't get TV channels or have cabel, someone gave it to him as a barter for work he did and it is a very nice TV) so now that cabinet is empty!

A little rearranging...and if it was so expensive to mail items to Canada I would be sending that favorite cousin of ours a couple of homemade baskets! My closet if overflowing between mine and K's...the boys have taken all of theirs...

I have most of Jarod's closet done...all the clothes, anyway. There are the shelves with "stuff" on it that needs to be taken care of. And there are some items on the floor that needs to be sorted too.

I should also say that the bottom shelf baskets have items in them...the top shelf baskets are empty and nicely stacked within themselves.

My goal is to get the vacuum into the right closet on the floor, I can move the stair gates to the laundry room closet and that Portacrib...

That is 26 years old...and hasn't been used in several years for company...so I think it is going to the guest closet...

What you can't see is a strap that I made 24 years ago that I called a "Love Harness"...I had 2 of them for the boys so we could go for walks and they could wander away from me yet I still had them within my reach if they were in the opposite direction of the other one...That will stay hanging in the closet...works great for toddler company also.

So some tweaking still needs doing but looks better.

I cleaned my kitchen plastic closet today. Ash did her bedroom closet and I did the spare closet a week ago so looks like I have 4 closets to go this month.

Master
Master Bath
Hall (linen)
Entry closet

We have been sick at this house and cleaning any thing has not been a priority...

Sorry for the hiccup...

The right side closet did not get finished yet because hubby needs to remove a shelf where we plan to put the music bookshelf.

The next closet is going to be the closet that is in K's sewing room...it is actually storage area for TP & PT...and I have not looked in it for months...and I understand I will be quite surprised when I do...I'll take a picture at that time!

That will be maybe Friday...

Came home and found the mess had been moved from inside the closet to the floor!

Sorted through, have a few things for the boys and this is the final look...

The last closet for January 2015

This closet is in the laundry room...it is where I keep our paper sacks, plastic bags, reusable bags...and a pile of "stuff" on the top shelf...

What I know needs to go is the empty ice-cream bucket...obviously someone doesn't know where those "really" go because I have a place for them in the pantry on a top shelf!

The maps appear to need straightening also, not sure there is any other place for them (they are for states other than MN, the MN maps are in the vehicles where they belong!)

This is now clean...kept one bin, it has extra scarves, hats and mittens...some of them "family heirlooms"!

Water bottle holders gone...each child had one for biking...2 of those 3 no longer live here...

Lunch bags bin gone...only 1 lunch bag and it sets by fridge.

Plastic bottles from honey purchase YEARS ago...gone...will give to someone who raises bees.

Plastic bags by door to take next time to grocery store for recycle.

Window washing tubs on top shelf where they belong.

Also straightened the food pantry side of closet...and next is going to be cabinets above the coat hangers...just need to tidy...

So what is on the menu for February Kra?

My closets are in good shape, I don't have a deep freezer, my laundry room gets done every other week, and it's kinda empty anyway.

Mine will be blinds and curtains...

I have LOTS of windows...but only curtains in 2 bedrooms, K's sewing room has a make shift valance (really just a piece of fabric that she folded over a curtain rod!) and the bathroom...so...

I will also add wash rugs & take comforters to laundry mat as my plan...

I'd like to add wash windows but it is too cold to wash the windows outside...the water freezes on them!

No need for pictures this month...

Oops, I see the first post has the monthly list. OK will do window treatments when I do my hour house blessing later today. I'll start with the dining room as I planned on doing the wood in there anyway.

All curtains were washed, ironed and rehung last week!

This week I will wash rugs unless there is a nice day that I can get windows washed at above 32* outside!

Did not get to the laundry today...and probably not tomorrow or Thursday either...

Iced-in today...tomorrow is music lessons at our house all day...Thursday I have some people coming for a card class...SO...

No housework for at least 2 days!!!!!

Thankful for FlyLady Living because as long as I do the basics the house stays in good shape for all the people coming and going the next 2 days...
